Years ago, I could not stick to exercising until I bought a CD called I Enjoy Exercise. I listened to it every day. I bought the CD because I wanted to run in a race and hopefully win!
I had promised my 10-year-old son Todd that I would run in a race with him. Unfortunately, however, when that race came about, his left leg was hurt in a car accident. Without him running with me, although I took part in that race, yet I didn't do quite well in it.
While Todd couldn't run together with me because of his injury, he never forgot the promise I made for him. He was always asking me whether I would keep my promise when he recovered in the future. So I decided I was going to train and go all out to win the next race. What I needed was motivation(动力).It happened that one of my friends mentioned the CD which he liked very much, saying that he got a lot from the music in it when feeling down. So I bought it and listened to it while exercising every day.
It was amazing what happened to my thinking as I listened to it daily. I started to think about the repeated words on the CD-"I enjoy exercise". Instead of dreading exercise, I was thinking, "I enjoy exercise."
I found out how important words are that we play in our minds every day. I went from a person who seldom exercised to someone who started to exercise daily. Just think how our lives will improve if we reflect on the motivating words of the famous works. I have found the positive messages have greatly improved my thinking and then changed my life.
How did I do in that race, you might be thinking I actually won the gold medal in my age group.

A.She would like to win the race.
B.She had a good talent for running.
C.Her son got injured in a car accident.
D.Her son was unwilling to run with her.
2.How did the author get the motivation for training
A.By recalling some inspiring stories.

A.Fearing. B.Improving. C.Preferring. D.Taking.

The Colorado National Monument, a national park, is an area of great extremes. The ground rises very sharply from the surrounding flat desert area. At first, it seems to be nothing more than huge and very colorful rocks shaped by nature. But if you spend a few hours walking slowly on its many paths, you soon learn that it is very much alive.
Scientists have found seashells high in these mountains and the fossils(化石)of ancient ocean creatures. Near the Colorado National Park researchers have found the huge fossils of ancient reptiles(爬行动物)called dinosaurs(恐龙). One fossil found early last century was the largest fossil dinosaur ever found at that time.
It was huge and it surprised scientists around the world. Scientists are still busy looking for remains of these creatures that died millions of years ago. However, not all of the animals found in or near the park are fossils. Because the area is desert, it is easy to believe that nothing is living here. But if you are very quiet and stay very still, you can see much life in the park. Mountain lions live here. It is very difficult to see them. However, visitors sometimes see the foot marks these big cats left in the soft sand.
If you look closely, you can see small rabbits searching for food or water early in the morning. On hot days you might see deer resting in the shade of trees. The deer are protected from hunters. Often they show little fear of people. Visitors must be careful not to surprise a small reptile called the rattlesnake. The bite of this snake can be very painful and make the injured sick.
4.What does the underlined sentence in the first paragraph mean
A.The national park is home to many living things.
B.The national park attracts many visitors to it.
C.Animals in the national park live an active life.
D.Scientists are excited to find such a national park.
5.What can't you find in the Colorado National Monument
A.Deer. B.Seashells. C.Rattlesnakes. D.Cats.
6.What is TRUE about the Colorado National Monument
A.It is an area filled with various living reptiles.
B.It was under the sea millions of years ago.
C.It is a place rich in fossils of ocean dinosaurs.
D.It is a green mountain covered with many trees.
7.What can we infer from the passage
A.No living things can be found in the mountains.
B.It is dangerous to travel across the mountains.
C.Visitors can go there for hunting animals freely.
D.Mountain lions have eaten up most animals there.

When I first landed at Ferihegy Airport in Budapest, I had no idea what was awaiting me. I was tired when our driver picked us up, but the view of graffiti(涂鸦)written in German, Russian, and Hungarian just blew me away. As we got closer to the city, I felt like I was in a place that was magically changed through time and none in the city had noticed.
I felt as if it was a forgotten place, but it really shouldn't be. I found that the air of Budapest was welcoming and nearly everyone was friendly. Most younger people there spoke English, but the non-English speakers were helpful in trying to explain to me that I had given them the wrong amount of forints in paying for an item. If you're interested in shopping, there is the Mammut which is a nice sized mall on the Buda side of the Danube. The locals explained to us that we should not shop at the mall because it is expensive.
When I checked out at a great store called Jazz, I found the opposite. I got a formal gown for $ 14!!! Looking back, I'd like to go to the places where the locals shopped. I stayed at the Mohdcsi Panzi6.It was $ 50 a night and the breakfast was wonderful. Our room overlooked a garden and was on the second story of the house, where you could see the hills in the distance.
When I was there we played "futbol" with a plastic piece of tubing we found near the waste bin. Margit Island is a huge park just inside the city. A lot of activities can be found on that island, from playing football to riding around on really strange-looking bikes. If you ever decide to take a trip to Budapest, you may never want to come back.
8.How did the writer feel when the writer noticed the graffiti
A.Surprised. B.Scared. C.Disappointed. D.Puzzled.
9.Budapest is a place according to the text.
A.where people have no idea of time
B.which attracts little attention
C.whose history isn't very long
D.that is both old and dirty
10.What did the writer find in Jazz
A.Young people spoke English better.
B.Almost everyone was very kind.
C.The goods were very cheap.
D.The locals bought things free of charge.
11.Why did the writer write the passage
A.To expect people to visit Budapest.
B.To recall an unpleasant experience in Budapest.
C.To remind travelers of safety in Budapest.
D.To warn people not to shop in Budapest.

Sport is not only physically challenging, but can also be mentally challenging. Criticism(批 评) from coaches, parents and other teammates, as well as pressure to win can create too much anxiety or stress for young athletes. Stress can be physical or emotional and research has showed that it can lead to burnout(精疲力竭). Burnout has been described as dropping out of or quitting an activity that was at one at time enjoyable.
The early years of growth are important years for learning about oneself and the sport setting is one where valuable experiences can take place. Young athletes can, for example, learn how to cooperate with others, make friends, and gain other social skills that will be used throughout their lives. Coaches and parents should be aware, at all times, that their feedback(反馈)to youngsters can greatly affect them. Youngsters may take their parents and coaches' criticisms to heart and find faults in themselves.
Coaches and parents should also pay attention that youth sport participation does not become work for children. The outcome of the game should not be more important than the process of learning the sport and other life lessons. In today's youth sport setting, young athletes may be worrying more about who will win instead of enjoying themselves and the sport. Following a game, many parents and coaches focus on the outcome and find faults with youngsters' performances. Positive support should be provided regardless of the criticism. Research shows that positive support encourages and has a greater effect on learning than criticism. Again, criticism can create high levels of stress, which can lead to burnout.
12.What is the main idea of the first paragraph
A.Stress should be made less.
B.Sport can be mentally challenging.
C.Mental stress should be reduced.
D.Sport should be made less competitive.
13.Why is sport important for young people according to the passage
A.It enables them to criticize themselves.
B.It can help them learn more about society.
C.It can provide them with valuable experiences.
D.It teaches them how to set realistic goals for themselves.
14.What should parents and coaches do according to the passage
A.Make sure children enjoy sport.
B.Help children to win every game.
C.Train children to deal with stress.
D.Understand the meaning of sport.
15.What's the author's purpose of writing the passage
A.To teach young athletes how to avoid burnout.
B.To persuade young children not to worry about criticism.
C.To stress the importance of encouraging children in sport.
D.To discuss the skill of combing criticism with encouragement.

Peter woke up early in the morning. He went downstairs in a hurry and started to have his breakfast as quickly as possible.
"Why are you in such a hurry, early bird " Mom asked him. "We will have an English spelling test today, Mom," Peter said. "Mr. White promised to offer prizes to those who get 100 scores. I've been studying the word list since last week. Although the words are difficult, I am well prepared for them."
Peter reviewed the spelling of each word once more carefully when Dad drove down.
Thirty words later, the test papers were collected by Mr. White. "I am to mark your papers now," he told the class. After marking the test papers, Mr. White said, "Three of you won a prize today for excellent test scores. Peter, David and Mary got l00 percent on the spelling test!" Mr White praised them. Meanwhile, he gave the three students each a dictionary. Peter's was an English-Chinese dictionary-the one he liked best. Peter was so excited that he held it high when his classmates cheered. "This is my happiest moment," Peter thought
After Mr. White gave the test paper back, Peter had a look at the words, feeling proud of his spelling. All of a sudden, the word "contribution" confused him. It didn't seem right. Peter began to compare them after taking out the word list. "C-o-n-t-r-i-b-u-s-i-o-n," he whispered. He had spelled it wrong
"What am I to do " Peter said to himself. "I expect my classmates to think I'm a master in spelling. If I tell Mr. White one of my spelling words is wrong, I'll have to give my prize back, or I will become an example for telling a lie. "Staring at the red sign "100%" which was written at his test paper, Peter was lost in thought. After a while, he remembered a lesson Mom used to teach him-"We should be an honest person."
Paragraph 1:
Slowly, Peter raised his hand.
Paragraph 2:
Peter looked around and found many of his classmates were smiling at him.

I had promised my 10-year-old son Todd that I would run in a race with him. Unfortunately, however, when that race came, his left leg was hurt in a car accident."
It happened that one of my friends mentioned the CD which he liked very much, saying that he got a lot from the music in it when feeling down. So I bought it and listened to it while exercising every day. I started to think about the repeated words on the CD — ‘I enjoy exercise'. Instead of dreading exercise, I was thinking, ‘I enjoy exercise.'"
I started to think about the repeated words on the CD — ‘I enjoy exercise'. Instead of… I was thinking, ‘I enjoy exercise.'"
【答案】4.A
5.D
6.B

It is very difficult to see them. However, visitors sometimes see the foot marks these big cats left in the soft sand."

Visitors must be careful not to surprise a small reptile called the rattlesnake.

Sport is not only physically challenging, but can also be mentally challenging. Criticism (批评) from coaches, parents and other teammates, as well as pressure to win can create too much anxiety or stress for young athletes. Stress can be physical, emotional, or psychological and research has indicated that it can lead to burnout. Burnout has been described as dropping out of or quitting an activity that was at one time enjoyable."
The early years of growth are important years for learning about oneself and the sport setting is one where valuable experiences can take place. Young athletes can for example, learn how to cooperate with others, make friends, and gain other social skills that will be used throughout their lives.
In today's youth sport setting, young athletes may be worrying more about who will win instead of enjoying themselves and the sport. Following a game, many parents and coaches focus on the outcome and find faults with youngsters' performances. Positive support should be provided regardless of the outcome." 故选A。
Positive support should be provided regardless of the outcome. Research indicates that positive support encourages and has a greater effect on learning than criticism. Again, criticism can create high levels of stress, which can lead to burnout."

1.Why did the author take part in the race by herself
A.She would like to win the race.
B.She had a good talent for running.
C.Her son got injured in a car accident.
D.Her son was unwilling to run with her.
2.How did the author get the motivation for training
A.By recalling some inspiring stories.
B.By listening to the CD while running.
C.By getting timely help from her friend.

3.What does the underlined word"dreading"in Paragraph 4 mean
A.Fearing. B.Improving. C.Preferring. D.Taking.
【答案】1.C
2.B

【答案】4.A
5.D

At first, it seems to be nothing more than huge and very colorful rocks shaped by nature. But if you spend a few hours walking slowly on its many paths, you soon learn that "但如果你花几个小时在它的许多小路上慢慢走,你很快就会了解到……。 故选 A。
Scientists have found seashells high in these mountains and the fossils (化石) of ancient ocean creatures. On hot days you might see deer resting in the shade of trees. Visitors must be careful not to surprise a small reptile called the rattlesnake." Mountain lions live here. It is very difficult to see them. However, visitors sometimes see the foot marks these big cats left in the soft sand."
Scientists have found seashells high in these mountains and the fossils (化石) of ancient ocean creatures."(科学家们在这些高山上发现了贝壳和古代海洋生物的化石。
Visitors must be careful not to surprise a small reptile called the rattlesnake.

"I spelled contribution with ‘s-i'instead of ‘t-i'." Peter could feel his classmates looking at him with surprise as he walked back to his desk. Mr. White held up Peter's test paper."Class," he said, "Peter did something even more important than spelling every word correctly on a test." Mr.White smiled at Peter."He taught us all a lesson on being honest."
Peter looked around and found many of his classmates were smiling at him. "Peter, I want you to have this dictionary because you set a good example for all of us," Mr. White said. Peter took the dictionary from his teacher and expressed his thanks to Mr. White. Meanwhile, he couldn't wait to show it to Mom and tell her one of his best days ever.
