1.定语从句基础知识
定义:定语从句是由关系代词或关系副词引导的从句,其作用是作定语修饰主句的某个名词性成分,一般紧跟在所修饰的先行词后面。
关系词:引导定语从句的关联词称为关系词,关系词有关系代词和关系副词。
关系代词有that、which、who、whom、whose、as等;关系副词有where、when、why等。
关系词有三个作用:(1)引导定语从句;(2)代替先行词;(3)在定语从句中担当一个成分。
先行词:被定语从句修饰、限定的词或短语,称为先行词。定语从句分为限定性定语从句和非限定性定语从句。

1.预习Grammar,用适当的关系代词合成句子。
(1)I am reading a book.The book was written by Bill Gates.

(2)I don’t like the man.He is smoking.

(3)Where is the picture? You bought it last week.
Where is the picture that you bought last week?

2.小组调查
比一比,看看谁写出的定语从句最多。
The elderly couple were very sad to hear that their only son was murdered.这对老夫妇听说他们唯一的儿子被杀了,他们感到非常难过。 
◎观察思考:
The couple have a daughter and a son.这对夫妇有一双儿女。
We went there a couple of years ago.我们几年前去过那儿。
◎用法总结:
couple意为“夫妇”,表示复数,作主语时谓语动词用复数形式;还可以意为“几个,一些”,常用于固定搭配a couple of,意为“两个(人或事),几个(人或事)”。
 用括号内词的适当形式填空。
1.The couple  are walking  (walk) their dog now in the park.
2.I bought a couple of  oranges   (orange) yesterday.

He was in a hurry to catch a bus.他正在匆忙地赶公交车。 
◎观察思考:
She dressed herself for the party in a hurry.她为赶去聚会而匆忙穿衣。
I hurried to catch the bus this morning.今天早上我匆忙地赶公交车。
◎用法总结:
in a hurry 意为“匆忙,急忙”,是固定搭配, in a hurry to do sth.意为“匆忙做某事”,此处hurry 是名词; hurry to do,此时hurry为动词。
 根据括号内所给的汉语提示,完成句子。
1.He had his breakfast  in a hurry  (匆忙地) and then went out.
2.   Hurry up  (赶快), or you will be late.
