In Switzerland, it’s very important to be on time. We’re the capital of clocks and watches, after all! If someone invites you to meet him or her at noon, then you’re expected to be there at noon. If you’re even 15 minutes late,
your friend may get mad. So I make an effort to be on time when I meet my friends. I always leave the house early to avoid heavy traffic because I think it’s impolite to keep others waiting. Also, we never visit a friend’s house without calling first. We almost always make plans to see friends. We usually plan to do something interesting, or go somewhere together.

如果表达“过去某时应该(不应该)做”时,用was (wasn't) / were (weren't) supposed to do, 相当于should (shouldn't) have+动词过去分词。
be supposed to意为“应该;被期望/期待; 理应”,
用来表示根据规定人们不得不做某事,或期待
发生某事,时态、人称和句式的变化在be上体现,to为不定式符号,后接动词原形。相当于
should do sth 或者是be expected to do sth.
用法 示例
当be supposed to 的主语是人时,意为“应该…”表示劝告、义务、责任等 You are (not) supposed to bow when you meet someone for the first time. 你第一次见到某人时(不)应该鞠躬。
当be supposed to 的主语是物时,表示“本应;本该”。表示“某事应该发生却没有发生” The train was supposed to arrive half an hour ago.
火车本应在半小时之前到达。
