Language points
1. help sb. with sth. 帮助（做）……
help sb. (to) do sth. 帮助做……
He often helps me with my English.
= He often helps me study English.
他经常帮助我学习英语。
2. It takes / took / will take sb. some time to do sth.
某人花了……时间做某事(时态根据具体情况决定）
eg. It takes me an hour to get to my office.
我花了一个小时到办公室。
It took me quite a long time to understand.
我花了很长时间才弄明白。
3. hundreds of 许多；大量
hundred 数词, “百”, 用于a、one或含有数量意义的词之后,
其后接可数名词的复数形式。
eg. There are four hundred students in our grade.
我们年级有400名学生。
当这类数词前面有具体的数字时, 数词不能用复数形式。如:
We have more than five hundred this kind of books.
我们有500多本这种书。
three hundred 三百 five thousand 五千
a few hundred 几百
类似的数词还有thousand , million, 当数词前没有具体数字时, 数词用复数形式, 后面接短语, 再加可数名词的复数形式。
4. make sb. (代词为宾格）do … 让……做……
eg. He made Tom laugh.
他使汤姆发笑。
I couldn't make my car start this morning.
今天早晨我的汽车发动不起来了。
5. the same as … 和……一样
— She looks the same as Lucy. 她看起来和露西长的一样。
— They are the twin sisters. 他们是双胞胎姐妹。
反义短语： be different from
6. be able to do sth. 能够做某事
We hoped that we should be able to do that.
我们希望我们能这样做。
They may be able to give me some ideas.
他们会给我一些建议的。
be able to 和 can 的区别
(1) be able to 用于表能力，并可用于多种时态和非谓语动词短语，而can 只有一般现在时和一般过去时两种时态。
(2) can 可用于人或物作主语的句子中；而be able to 的主语只能由有生命的名词充当。
(3) can 常指客观上能够；be able to 更侧重于“克服一定困难”、“经过努力”、“有能力”做成某事。
