The International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) has changed in recent years because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, an online version of the event was held for the first time. This year, the physical show returned to Las Vegas, Nevada. But the number of attendees decreased by about 70 percent. CES is produced by the Consumer Technology Association. It's known as the place where many companies across the globe show their most up-to-date technology offerings. Here is a look at some of the top products presented at CES 2022.
Labrador's assistive robot
Robot maker Labrador announced the launch of its Retriever robot. The small, self-driving machine is designed to hold things and, as its name suggests, also retrieve (取回) things. The robot can be controlled by voice commands or from an app on a phone. It can also be programmed based on an exact map of a user's home. The company says the Retriever is designed to serve as an extra pair of hands and lighten the load of everyday tasks in the home.
AirSelfie camera
Electronics maker AirSelfie launched its up-to-date self-flying camera designed to take “selfie” pictures. The new device, called AirPix, is a small, light camera that flies through the air and takes high-quality photographs and videos. A video on the company's website explains that Air Pix can fly, frame and take pictures all by itself before landing back on the user's hand.
Self-driving tractor
American-based farm equipment producer John Deere presented a fully self-driving tractor. The company says the vehicle is equipped with six different cameras and a series of sensors to guide the tractor through the fields. Farmers can control the vehicle and see the tractor's progress in real time through a mobile device. John Deere says the concept is to help farmers do more work with fewer tools and other people.

When Ryad Alsous arrived in England, he knew one thing: he wanted to keep bees. The insects had been a major part of his life in Syria, and fleeing his war-torn homeland. It was a precious certainty amid so much chaos.
As a lecturer at the University of Damascus,Ryad had built a respected reputation for his research on Syrian bees. With over 500 hives, he produced over ten tons of honey every year. Fleeing his country in 2013, he lost everything.
Yet even with all his knowledge and experience,Ryad didn't know if his dream would be possible in the UK. “I found that there is a lot of rain and the temperature isn't very high. All the time I was thinking ‘How can I set up another project here?’”
The wet weather wasn't Ryad's only challenge. The language barrier and a vastly overqualified CV made it difficult to find work. Eventually, Ryad volunteered at the Huddersfield Beekeepers' Association, but he was still without a colony of his own. Finally, Facebook brought him into contact with a woman in Manchester who was willing to donate an entire colony of rare British black bees.
“In one year, I was able to split the colony she gave me into seven. I realised that the beekeeping project could become very profitable and successful in the UK.”
Soon,Ryad found himself with 17 hives, but he wasn't finished yet. His inner__teacher__was__itching__to__get__out. Through City of Sanctuary, a British refugee charity, Ryad began to run beekeeping workshops for refugees and job seekers. The Buzz Project was born.
Today, the Buzz Project houses 14 hives, where Ryad shares his expertise. It has started to bear fruit. Last year, they produced-half ton of honey (around 1,000 jars). But for Ryad, the most important thing is bringing people together.
“We have local people, job seekers and volunteers, in addition to refugees. All of them work together doing the same job. The exchange between the groups, the information and skills, helps them integrate very well and improve their language skills” he says.
24.Why did Ryad come to England
A.To keep bees. B.To do research. C.To seek shelter. D.To run business.
25.Which factor posed a challenge to Ryad at first
A.The hot weather. B.His poor English.
C.His inadequate qualification. D.The cultural differences.
26.What's the meaning of the underlined part
A.He wanted to share his beekeeping skills. B.He decided to establish a beekeeping school.
C.He wanted to expand his business. D.He decided to find a teaching job.
27.Which of the following can best describe Ryad's character
A.Persistent and charitable. B.Ambitious and reliable.
C.Curious and responsible. D.Independent and respectable.

For some children, handwriting can be a difficult skill to learn but it is very important. Often their teachers offer extra support to the children who find handwriting very difficult. Recently researchers have developed a system designed to help children to have good handwriting. The system involves the use of a robot in one-to-one learning process with children.
“Based on this, robots are invented to provide existing handwriting intervention(介入) methods for children,” Shruti Chandra, one of the researchers said.“Our research aims at exploring how a robot can independently help children with the learning of handwriting with an approach where the children take on the role of teachers, assessing the robot's handwriting skills.” The learning system is fully self-controlled,so it doesn't require any additional work during the child-robot interaction.
“The interaction begins when the robot asks for help from the child in correcting shapes of a few letters,” Chandra said,“First, the robot writes a deformed (变形的) letter on the screen and asks the child to correct it using the computer screen. The child performs correction by changing the shape of the letter through a writing tool on the screen.”
During the child-robot tutoring sessions (辅导课),the robot makes some of the most common handwriting mistakes observed in 4-to 8-year-old children. This allows the child to think over some of his/her own mistakes while correcting errors made by the robot.
The researchers analyzed the data they collected and found that the handwriting skills of children in the personalized learning condition improved greatly after the tutoring sessions. On the other hand, the handwriting of children in the non-learning condition did not improve noticeably.
28.Why do the researchers develop the robot
A.To help children with their lessons. B.To improve children's handwriting.
C.To have communication with children. D.To arouse children's interest in handwriting.
29.How does the robot work
A.By ordering children to write letters first.
B.By teaching children the right shapes of letters.
C.By showing the right and wrong shapes of letters.
D.By presenting handwriting mistakes for children to correct.
30.How does the author show the effect of the robot
A.By making a comparison. B.By listing data.
C.By giving an example. D.By stating arguments.
31.In which part of a newspaper can we read this article
A.History. B.Stories. C.Education. D.Society.
D
Like most robots, social robots use artificial intelligence to decide how to act on information received through cameras and other sensors. The ability to respond in ways that seem lifelike has been informed by research into such issues as how perceptions (知觉) form, what constitutes social and emotional intelligence, and how people can infer others' thoughts and feelings. Advances in AI have enabled designers to translate such psychological and neuroscientific insights into algorithms that allow robots to recognize voices, feces and emotions; interpret speech and gestures; respond appropriately to complex verbal and nonverbal cues; make eye contact; speak conversationally; and adapt to people's needs by learning from feedback, rewards and criticisms.
A 47-inch humanoid (类人物) called Pepper (from SoftBank Robotics) recognizes faces and basic human emotions and engages in conversations via a touch screen in its “chest,” About 15,000 Peppers worldwide perform such services as hotel check-ins, airport customer service, shopping assistance and fast-food checkout. Temi (from Temi USA) and Loomo (Segway Robotics) are the next generation of personal assistants—like Amazon Echo and Google Home but mobile, providing a new level of functionality. Loomo, for instance, is not only a companion but can also transform on command into a scooter (小型摩托车) for transport.
Social robots have particular appeal for assisting the world's growing elderly population. The PARO Therapeutic Robot (developed by Japan's National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology), which looks like a seal, soft and cute, is meant to stimulate and reduce stress for those with Alzheimer's disease and other patients in care facilities: it responds to its name by moving its head, and it cries for petting.Mabu (Catalia Health) engages patients, particularly the elderly, as a wellness aide, reminding them to take walks and medication and to call family members. Social robots are also gaining popularity with consumers as toys. Early attempts to include social behavior in toys, such as Hasbro's Baby Alive and Sony's AIBO robotic dog, had limited success. But both are resurging (复活), and the most recent version of AIBO has advanced voice and gesture recognition, can be taught tricks and develops new behaviors based on previous interactions.
Worldwide sales of consumer robots reached an estimated $5.6 billion in 2018, and the market is expected to grow to $19 billion by the end of 2025, with more than 65 million robots sold a year. This trend may seem surprising given that multiple well-funded consumer robot companies, such as Jibo and Anki, have failed. But a wave of robots is lining up to take the place of old robots, including BUDDY (Blue Frog Robotics), a big-eyed mobile device that plays games in addition to acting as a personal assistant and providing home automation and security.
32.What does the first paragraph mainly talk about
A.How social robots receive information.
B.What research has been conducted about social robots.
C.Why social robots can respond in lifelike ways.
D.How designers translate insights into social robots.
33.Examples are used in Paragraph 2 to show that social robots are ________.
A.filling an expanding variety of roles B.getting higher intelligence
C.interacting with people D.learning to respond in lifelike ways
34.According to the passage we know that ________.
A.social robots can have various forms and appearances
B.PARO can interact with people by moving its head like a dog
C.the most recent version of AIBO has achieved as great success as before
D.the sales of consumer robots have been increasing as ever expected
35.What is the best title for the passage
A.More companies will invest on social robots
B.Social robots play nicely with human beings
C.Social robots have great effects on elder people's life
D.Artificial intelligence enables social robots to make decisions

Could you remember what the first thing you do each day The first thing I do when I wake up in the morning is check my phone. And I'll keep doing that throughout the entire day until I go back to bed. If, like me, a lot of your technology habits are automatic, you may not even be aware of your behavior.__36__ But with some efforts, you can engage with the digital world in a way that's appropriate for you. Here's how to get started:
__37__ Try turning off push notifications and deleting social media apps from your phone to create natural obstacles to access them. Of course sometimes there are people you know you want to keep up with and usually connect with on a particular platform. In this case, let them know how they can stay in touch.
Whatever you do, don't go to bed with your phone.__38__ Sleeping without smart phones improves sleep, relationships, focus and well-being, and increases happiness and quality of life. So charging your phone somewhere else could help you experience those benefits.
Get to know yourself again by reinvesting in your hobbies. You can start by shutting down your social media for about a week, and then slowly find your favorite apps one at a time over the following weeks. This will help you figure out which apps are contributing to your life and which aren't. Make a list of activities you enjoy and people you like hanging out with. __39__

In 1945, a 12-year-old boy saw a beautiful brooch (胸针) in a shop window that set his heart racing. But the price—five dollars—was too high for Reuben Earle. Five dollars would buy almost a week's food for his family.
Reuben couldn't ask his father for the money. Everything his father made through fishing went to his mother, Dora. Slim and beautiful, she was the center of the home, the glue that held it together. The housework was never-ending, and she struggled to feed and clothe their five children, but she was happy as her family and their well-being were all she cared about.
Nevertheless, he opened the shop's weathered (风化的) door and went inside. Standing proudly and straight in his flour-sack (面粉袋改做的) shirt and washed-out trousers, he told the shopkeeper what he wanted, adding, “But I don't have the money right now. Can you please hold it for me for some time?”
“I'll try,” the shopkeeper smiled. “People around here don't usually have that kind of money to spend on things. It should be kept for a while.”
Reuben respectfully touched his worn cap and walked into the sunlight. He would raise the money and not tell anybody, for he thought his mom would get surprised when she saw that brooch. On hearing the sound of hammering from a side street, Reuben had an idea—he could raise money by selling used nail bags. He ran towards the sound and stopped at a construction site. People built their own homes in Bay Roberts, using nails bought in bags from a local factory. Sometimes the used bags were thrown away at the construction site, and Reuben knew he could sell them back to the factory for five cents a piece.
That day he sold two nail bags and hid the money in a rusty soda tin (汽水罐).
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式作答。
Every day after school, Reuben started his plan.

Text 10
Well, I remember the first time I went abroad. I was eleven years old at the time, and we had a school trip to Paris. We took a coach to London airport to catch the plane, and it was about a three hour drive, down the motorway, and about halfway we stopped at a service station and had lunch. And then we got back on the coach and continued our journey to the airport and when we were nearly at the airport, the teacher suddenly remembered she had left our passports in the service station. So we went all the way back there. Finally, we got on the plane, and arrived in Paris. After we got to Paris, I bought some cream cakes. They were so good that I ate five cream cakes... and I was sick. Then I didn't get out of bed for three days... I was so ill.
