Mark is leaving, and I’m feeling kind of sad.
You probably don’t know Mark, but you might be 41 enough to know someone just like him. He’s been the heart and soul of the office, combining professional skills with a sweet nature. He’s never been all that interested in getting praise for the 42 work he does.
And now he’s moving on to an exciting new opportunity which sounds like the chance of a lifetime, and we’re 43 pleased for him. But that doesn’t make it any easier to say goodbye to a dear friend and 44 colleague.
Life has a way of throwing these curve balls (曲线球) at us. Just when we start to get comfortable with a person, a place or a situation, something comes along to 45 it.
But how do we deal with change There’s Chris, who once told me that the answer can be expressed in four words, “Go_ 46 _the flow.”
“It is like surfing, “Chris explained. “You can’t organize the ocean. 47 just happen. You ride them 48 they take you, and then you go back out there and catch the next one. Sure, you’re always hoping for the perfect wave. But 49 you just take them the way they come.”
That doesn’t 50 that you don’t keep trying to make all your dreams come true. It just means that when things that aren’t exactly in your plan 51 , you work around them and then you move on. Of course, some barriers (阻碍) along the 52 of life are easier to take than others. A rained-out picnic, for example, is 53 to deal with than the sudden death of a loved one. But the principle is the same.
We’re going to 54 Mark. But rather than on the sadness of our 55 , we’ll focus on our hopes for a brighter future.

Most people think fashionable lifestyles have little to do with China’s seniors. They are simply considered as the ones who dress in flowery clothing and dance together in squares, or the ones rushing to be the first to buy vegetables at low prices.
However, Qin Xiao, a photographer is discovering a seniors’ world which is quite different from the one most people commonly see. In photos taken by Qin, the fashionable seniors show their attitude toward life and their understanding of fashion. They are not professional models or well-known people.
In his photos, some seniors are dressed casually (休闲地), but fashionably, while others are carefully dressed. In a July photo, an old man wears blue silk pajamas (睡衣论) with white roses to walk his dog. He matches his clothes with red-and-blue sports shoes, a white baseball cap and a red dog leash (链条).
In 2018, he began to record the outfits of seniors and opened an account called Senior Fashion Club on Sina Weibo. When he posted pictures as such on it, comments (评论) below read: “How is he able to look so fashionable in pajamas “I am going to dress like this when I am old”; and “Fashion has nothing to do with age. They are just boys and girls with wrinkles (皱纹).”
As follower numbers rose, Qin’s account received attention from a number of photo magazines, and then other local and national media began to report the fashion of seniors. Many reporters asked why he chose to record senior people’s daily outfits.
“I take photos of them just because they are beautiful, not because I’m reflecting on the fashion of an aging society or anything big. I hope my photos can show people the beauty they may pay little attention to in daily life and that old people can lead the fashion, too. That’s it,” he said.
