Dear students,
It’s my great honor to stand here to deliver a speech with the theme of “I Love Dalian”.
Dalian is a place that has stolen my heart in many ways. The crystal-clear sea water,
pleasant weather and the distinctive urban architecture never fail to captivate me. Every corner
of this city is a treat to the eyes. Furthermore, it has undergone significant development in
many fields, especially its commitment to environmental protection, ensuring sustainable
development for future generations.
In conclusion, Dalian is a city full of energy and hope, which I am proud to call home and
always cherish. And I do hope more people can fall in love with Dalian and realize their dreams
here, leading Dalian into a new era of prosperity.
That’s all. Thank you for your listening.
第二节(满分 25分)
That evening, Alex told Grandma about what had happened. Grandma listened attentively,
her wise eyes filled with understanding. She gently placed her hand on Alex’s shoulder and said,
“My dear Alex, anger is a normal emotion, but it’s important to learn to manage anger and
express feelings without hurting others.” Grandma taught Alex a simple technique — take
slow, deep breaths whenever he felt anger creeping up inside him. She also encouraged him to
take a moment to reflect on his feelings and put himself in others’ shoes before reacting
impulsively.
Alex made up his mind to change. The next day, Alex encountered many situations that
would typically trigger his anger at school. But he chose a different approach. His newfound
ability to manage his anger made a noticeable difference. His friends noticed the positive
change in him and began inviting him to join activities. With each passing day, Alex’s
relationships with his family and friends grew stronger. Looking back, Alex felt it was wise to
learn to manage his anger with the help of his Grandma and create harmonious interpersonal
relationship.

Text 1
W: Can you sign your name here for me I love this book and I’ve learnt a lot from it.
M: Really That’s my honor. I’m done. Oh, I have to leave now. The reporters are waiting for me over there.
Text 2
W: I’m glad that I’ve passed all the tests.
M: Don’t count your chickens before they hatch. We still need to finish an essay and a project. It is said that the
exam results account for 50% of our final grade, and the essay 30%. The other 20% depends on the project.
Text 3
M: Look, our school issued a notice about the holiday.
W: What does it say
M: Well, during the vacation, the library and the gym will be closed, and only the dining hall will still be open.
Text 4
W: Richard, listen! I heard some footsteps upstairs.
M: Don’t worry. Maybe our neighbors have come back from their trip.
W: That’s impossible. They told me they wouldn’t be back from Hawaii until next month.
Text 5
M: Good morning, Ann. You’ve been cycling to work for a month. Don’t you get tired
W: No. You can have a go. It’s good for the environment.
M: But driving to work is more comfortable for me.
Text 6
W: Jerry, you shouldn’t hit your sister on her back like that. She’s only 2 years old.
M: She started it. And she threw my toy gun into the trash can.
W: OK. I’m sorry. I didn’t see that.
M: I’m sorry, too. I was too angry just now.
W: It’s okay. I won’t punish either of you. Hey, do you remember you used my lipstick to draw pictures on the
wall when you were little It takes time for you to grow up and become a polite boy.
M: You’re right, Mom. I won’t do that to little Niki anymore.
W: That’s my boy.
Text 7

to Philadelphia. We’ve got a new coach for you.
W: Sorry to interrupt, Barry, but why is everything so sudden
M: That’s all I got from Ms. Brown. If you want to know more, you can call her yourself.
W: Alright. Please introduce the new coach to us.
M: The new coach is Ben Evans from Chicago. He has more than 10 years of teaching experience in yoga. He
worked as a private trainer for a famous star before.
W: Really That’s cool. I can’t wait to take his classes.
Text 8
M: Lily, are you free at the moment I need you to send a notice for me.
W: What kind of notice Is there a meeting this afternoon
M: No. Our company holds a fire practice every six months.
W: Okay. What time does the practice start
M: Usually, it starts at 2:00 p.m. But this year we decided to move it forward to 9:00 a.m.
W: Okay. There’s only 45 minutes left.
M: Yeah. And to avoid accidents, we decided to do it department by department. The marketing department
will go first, then the e-commerce department, and finally the customer service department.
W: Copy that. But what about our personnel department
M: There’re only two of us, so we’ll do it with the customer service department.
W: OK. I’m going to draft the notice right now.
Text 9
M: Joyce, our dinner is all served. Let’s start.
W: Okay, Oliver. My mouth has been watering. Which dish should we try first
M: Fish. I highly recommend the fish. It has no fish bones. How is it
W: Yummy. But in my country, we don’t cook fish this way, with sweet and sour flavor. We eat sashimi, which
consists of raw fish, served with sauce.
M: I know. I once tried it, but I couldn’t swallow it. To be polite, I kept the food in my mouth.
W: That’s funny. Anyway, I rate the fish 8.5 out of 10.
M: Great. Let’s try the duck. It’s one of the most famous dishes in Beijing.
W: Peking duck. I’ve heard about it. Many of my friends who have been to China love this dish. Hmm, I think
it’s a little bit oily for me. I seldom eat fat. So, I’d rate this dish 7 out of 10.
M: OK. But when you go home this summer break, you can bring some back for your friends.

M: Braised pork ball in brown sauce.
W: It looks delicious. Wow, I like it. I’ll give it 10 out of 10, honestly. I’d like to take a photo of the meat balls.
I’m going to share the photo on my WeChat Moments tonight.
Text 10
M: A gentleman was walking through an elephant camp, and he spotted that the elephants weren’t being kept
in cages or held by the use of chains. The only thing that held them back from escaping the camp was a small
piece of rope tied to one of their legs.
As the man gazed upon the elephants, he was completely confused about why the elephants didn’t just
use their strength to break the rope and escape the camp. They could easily have done so, but instead, they
didn’t try at all. Wanting to know the answer, he asked a trainer nearby why the elephants were just standing
there and never tried to escape.
The trainer replied, “When they were very young and much smaller, we used the same size rope to tie
them. At that age, it was enough to hold them. As they grow up, they are conditioned to believe they cannot
break away. They believe the rope can still hold them, so they never try to break free.” The only reason that the
elephants weren’t breaking free and escaping from the camp was that over time they adopted the belief that it
just wasn’t possible. No matter how much the world tries to hold you back, always continue with the belief that
what you want to achieve is possible. Believing you can become successful is the most important step in
actually achieving it.
