67.I thought how I ought to use the money I had earned. The bus drove off without me. Across the street from the bus stop was a big grocery store. I went into the store and bought a turkey, ham, oranges and other goodies. I spent every dollar of my hard-earned money. The owner of the grocery store said, “Girl, the groceries have packed up like a mountain, and you can’t carry them home by yourself.” So I asked two boys with carriers on their bicycles to run them the half-mile down to my house.
Soon I got to my house with the groceries ( 食品杂货 ). With great excitement and tears in my eyes, I knocked on the door. When Mum opened the door, she surprisingly found that some of the groceries fell inside onto the floor. Holding back the tears I whispered “Happy New Year! A big surprise!” “Can you tell me what happened ” Mum was so excited that she cried out. I had a lot of explanation as we unpacked all the food and put it away. That day I got enough hugs and kisses from Mum. Even though I failed to get a new pair of gloves, the smile on Mum’s face made it all worthwhile. It was an unforgettable New Year for us after all!

When I was eight, I moved from my family’s farm to live in the city. We moved because my mother got a new job, and it made sense to move to the city. I think it was good for my parents. They wanted to live in the city and our town was very poor, but I didn’t want to move. At first, I hated it so much. There were too many people and it was always so noisy. Worst of all, I had to leave all of my friends! For almost two years, I was mad about having to live there. Three years later I started to like the city. I realized that I should just enjoy what I had and stop thinking about what I didn’t have. What really changed my mind about the city were all the new things to try. I was able to do some new activities in the city. I met so many amazing people along the way!

While most TV stations and video-streaming platforms try to attract viewers by producing star-studded (明星荟萃的) reality shows, Henan TV has gone viral by promoting traditional culture through Chinese dance.
This year, Henan TV produced seven dance pieces highlighting traditional culture, such as Rhapsody on the Luo River Goddess (《洛神水赋》), a two-minute underwater dance, and Dragon Boat Festival and Guardian Warriors of Longmen (《龙门金刚》), a dance piece supported by AR technology against the backdrop of the Longmen Grottoes. “The seven dance pieces have gained nearly 30 billion hits on social media platforms,” said Yao Wei, director of the TV station’s Innovation Center. “It’s a huge success for Henan TV.”
Last month, Yao was invited to talk about how the TV station had produced the hit dance pieces at a three-day forum (论坛) centering on the research of Chinese dance. The pieces made an emotional impact on audiences, most of whom are members of Gen Z (people born between 1995 and 2009), Yao said. “It’s been over forty years since the country’s reform and opening-up and the younger generations have grown up with a more open mindset. With plenty of resources and opportunities, they embrace Chinese culture and are proud of it,” said Yao. “What we need to do is present Chinese culture and tradition in interesting ways for those young people.” Yao added that Henan TV has been producing shows highlighting traditional culture, such as traditional operas and kung fu, for nearly 30 years. “To appeal to younger audiences, we are also changing our shows. One of the keys is to produce content with strong visual (视觉的) creativity,” Yao said. “For example, the latest technology and unconventional (新奇的) stage settings, like underwater scenes, have become our new ways of telling stories about traditional Chinese culture, rather than simply narrating (讲述) history with traditional video content.”
Another key to successfully reaching younger audiences is using social media platforms to promote their shows. “Social media is being shaped and driven by young people. It’s a powerful form of communication. When they take a quick scroll (滚屏) through their phones, they easily become interested in an eye-catching video,” Yao said.

Letting me move into my university dormitory wasn’t an easy decision for my parents. However, they knew if I wanted a good education, I’d have to live away from home. I’d always dream of living alone the life of no rules and regulations and being independent. So I was delighted about this new stage in my life.
Unexpectedly, during the first few months of living alone, I would find myself crying every day. I would call my mum every day. Coming from a big family, I was used to noises surrounding me. Therefore, the scary silence at night was the worst. I couldn’t even sleep without keeping the lights on.
As time went by, I started enjoying the freedom that came with living alone. I could do things in my own time: eat whenever I want, wake up whenever I want. The space of loneliness was also then filled up by friends who became like family, so I started missing my family less.
When it was time to say goodbye and go back home after my graduation I was bittersweet. I’d enjoyed my time alone, learning things which wouldn’t have been possible if I had never moved away from home. But I’d also missed my family too much.
I’d learned a lot from this experience. Living alone made me value family time even more. I realized every second with them was important though I might not get the freedom while living alone.
I guess it’s different for everybody, but for me, there is no warmth in a house unless it’s filled with loving members and people you love.
28.How did the author feel before moving into the university dormitory
A.Sad. B.Happy. C.Nervous. D.Cold.
29.What can we know about the author from paragraph 4
A.He had mixed feelings.
B.He didn’t enjoy his time alone.
C.He has been used to the life in school.
D.He found living with his family was better than in the school.
30.What can be inferred from the last paragraph
A.The author felt cold living in school.
B.The author’s dormitory was the warmest place.
C.The author felt warm living with his beloved ones.
D.Everyone felt warm when living with his beloved ones.
31.What does the author want to tell us
A.Family is the most important place in people’s life.
B.As time goes by, people can get used to what happened.
C.People can find freedom only when they leave their family.
D.People need to grow up on their own, but family plays an important role.

With the recent discussion about the health benefits of fish oil and other wellness plans, it can make you feel less worried to know that one thing never changes: Exercise is good for your health. Any movement, even walking, brings about a host of cardiovascular(心血管的)effects that can help you live longer, feel better, and not run out of breath when chasing children or small animals.
The question of how much exercise is best, though, is open to discussion. The answer often depends on your goals. For heart health, sessions four to five times weekly might be perfect. For mental health As The Independent reports, scientists believe there’s a pretty specific prescription(处方): Exercising for 45 minutes three to five times a week.
Researchers at Yale University and the University of Oxford made the study. They examined 1.2 million subjects(实验对象)who filled out the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance Survey at two-year intervals(间隔时间)between 2011 and 2015.
Subjects who didn’t exercise at all had an average of three-and-a-half days per month when they felt mentally unwell — stressed, depressed, or suffering from emotional problems — while those who exercised regularly reported an average of just two days.
The study found that having three to five 45-minute sessions of exercise a week was best for reducing the reported problems of feeling stressed or depressed. Exercising for longer periods — some subjects reported more than 90 minutes in the gym — was connected with a drop-off in mental health benefits. Subjects who spent three hours at a time exercising actually reported an increase in depressive symptoms(症状).
Researchers also found that the kind of exercise undertaken made a difference. While all kinds of exercise helped, people who took part in team sports promoting social communication and gym classes like cycling described greater self-satisfaction with mental health.
Because the study included self-reported outcomes and exercise wasn’t monitored, it’s possible that the subjects could have misread the amount of exercise performed. The study, however, makes a convincing case for a popular opinion: If exercise were a pill, doctors everywhere would be prescribing it.
32.The perfect amount of exercise for a person is usually decided by ________.
A.his exercise routine B.his physical condition
C.what sports he prefers D.what he expects to improve
33.What do the numbers in paragraphs 4 and 5 show
A.The health benefits of exercise.

D.Why positive attitudes promote one’s exercise.
34.Which of the following sports may bring people more pleasure
A.Tai chi. B.Volleyball. C.Climbing. D.Diving.
35.What may be the reason for the disadvantage of the study

My family had a hard time when I was in Grade 11. My parents lost their jobs during the Depression. Dad was too ill to work outside, while Mum had a tough time raising us kids on her own in our small community. We relied on our community assistance to keep us clothed, and although our clothes were secondhand, we thought they were beautiful.
Looking back, I realize what Mum went through for sending us kids to school. Every morning she would put a new piece of cardboard in our shoes, because our shoes were worn out. Moving house constantly was typical for my family during the period. Rent was twenty-five dollars a month, but Mum couldn’t pay it. These were hard and sad years, but we never complained.
The new year was approaching, and we were entitled (享有)to a twenty-five dollar fund for social services. Mum said that instead of buying food, she would use the money to pay back rent, making sure we all had a roof over our heads for a little while longer. She told us then there would be nothing for the new year.
Unknown to Mum, I had been removing snow and doing odd jobs to earn enough money to buy a new pair of shoes. I knew exactly which shoes I wanted. They were made of genuine leather and they had a price of twenty-three dollars. Well, the big day came on the last day of that year. I was very excited, as I was hurrying up to catch the bus. It was only a half-a-mile walk, but on the way I noticed a house with lights and decorations. It was then that I realized in our house, we had no lights, no decorations, nor any money for goodies (好吃的东西). I knew then that we would have no delicious food for the new year, and I felt sad.
As I continued walking, I began to feel confused. I was sixteen years old, and I was feeling a strange sense of guilt. Here I was going to buy a new pair of shoes while Mum was home in tears. She would be trying to explain to us why there were no presents.
