Students: 50 junior high school students, grade 1, 26 girls and 24 boys
Lesson duration: 40 minutes
Type of lesson: Listening and speaking
Teaching objectives:
At the end of this lesson, students should be able to:
1. describe clothes with colors, big/small and short/long.
2. talk about price when they buy clothes in a store.
3. use some sentences politely in a shop.
4. be interested in learning English daily language.
Teaching contents: descriptions of clothes
1. important words: big, small, short, long, need, look, pair, take
2. important sentence patterns:
—How much is this hat
—It’s two dollars.
—How much are these trousers
—They are nine dollars.

Teaching model: Task-based Language Teaching
Teaching aids: whiteboard, blackboard, chalk, PPT, pictures
Teaching procedures:
Step 1. Revision(3 minutes)
Review the vocabularies of clothes and colors.
Review “—How much is this hat , —It’s eight dollars.”and “—How much are those trousers?”,—They’re nine dollars.” sentence patterns.
Step 2. Learn the new words.(8 minutes)
Learn the pronunciations.

Link the words to the pictures.(2minutes)

Finish the task in 1a
Pick 2 students (a girl and a boy ) to read the colors, ask them read loudly and clearly.
Describe the things in 2a with colors and long/short and small/big.

While-listening(7 minutes)
The teacher play the tape and students circle the thing in 2b.
Pick one student to show his answers.
Answers
Play the tape again then pick one student to show her answers.
Check out the answers.
After-listening(2 minutes)
Read the tapescripts together.
Step 4. Pair-work(3 minutes)
Separate the students into two groups then one group role plays “woman” and the other role plays “Mary”.
Step 5 Practice(6 minutes)
Pick 13 students to translate the sentences into Chinese one by one.
Fill in the blanks.( The underlined words are keys. )
