Some time ago I discovered that one of my chairs had a broken leg. I didn’t think there would be any difficulty in getting it repaired as there are a whole lot of antique (古董) shops near my home. So I left home one morning carrying the chair with me. I went into the first shop expecting a friendly reception. I was quite wrong. The man wouldn’t even look at my chair.
The second shop, though slightly more polite, was just the same, and the third and the fourth, so I decided that my approach must be wrong, and I should try another way.
I entered the fifth shop with a plan in my mind. I placed the chair on the floor and said to the shopkeeper, “Would you like to buy a chair ” He looked it over carefully and said, “Yes, not a bad chair. How much do you want for it, sir ” “Twenty pounds,” I said. “OK,” he said, “I’ll give you twenty pounds.” “It’s got a slightly broken leg,” I said. “Yes, I saw that. It’s nothing.”
Everything was going according to plan and I was getting excited. “What will you do with it ” I asked. “Oh, it will be easy to sell once the repair is done.” “I’ll buy it.” I said, “What would you mean You’ve just sold it to me,” he said. “ Yes. I know but I’ve changed my mind. I am sorry. I’ll give you twenty-seven pounds for it.” “You must be crazy.” he said. Then, suddenly the penny dropped. “I know what you want. You want me to repair your chair.” “You’re right,” I said. “And what would you have done if I had walked in and said, ‘Would you repair this chair for me ’ ” “I wouldn’t have agreed to do it,” he said. “We don’t do repairs, not enough money in it and too much trouble. But I’ll repair this for you, shall we say for five pounds ” He was a very nice man and was greatly amused by the whole thing.

Sure, it’s good to get along well with your teacher because it makes the time you spend in the classroom more pleasant.
And yes, it’s good to get along well with your teacher because, in general, it’s smart to learn how to get along well with the different types of people you’ll meet throughout your life.
In fact, kids who get along well with their teachers not only learn more, but they’re more comfortable with asking questions and getting extra help. This makes it easier for them to understand new materials and makes them do their best on tests. When you have this kind of relationship with a teacher, he or she can be someone to turn to with problems, such as problems with learning or school issues(问题).
Here is a question:What if you don’t get along with your teachers In fact, teachers want to get along well with you and enjoy seeing you learn. But teachers and students sometimes have personality clashes(个性冲突), which can happen between any two people. If you show your teacher that you want to make the situation better, he or she will probably do everything possible to make that happen. By dealing with a problem like this, you learn something about how to get along with people who are different from you.
However, if a certain teacher isn’t your favorite, you can still have a successful relationship with him or her especially ________. Here are some of those responsibilities:
Attend class ready to learn.
Be prepared for class with the right stationery, books, and completed assignments(作业).
Listen when your teacher is talking.
Do your best, whether it’s a classroom assignment, homework, or a test.
28. According to the passage, getting along well with your teachers will make you ________.

B. get a better seat in the classroom
C. get the best scores in the exams
D. have more pleasant time in the classroom

Are you aged between 14 and 19 years old Do you care about your local environment Would you like to help make the area you live in better, cleaner, safer and friendlier If your answers are “yes”, “yes” and “yes”, then read on! A local organization is carrying out a project, giving money to groups of teenagers who want to become active citizens. Here are a few easy things you could do to get started.
Meeting the neighbors. Everybody needs good neighbors. Knock on people's doors and find out what they would like to improve in your area. Set a date for a meeting and then make some plans together. If you don’t want to go round to their houses, then you could always put a note through their doors.
Neighborhood watch. It is very popular in the UK. If you go away on holiday and leave your house, it’s very nice to know that a neighbor is keeping an eye on it. It’s a good way to make the area you live in safer.
Lending a hand. There are often elderly people living in the neighborhood who may not be able to do the things that you can. Offer to do their shopping once a week, look after their gardens for them or maybe walk their dogs!
No littering. Nobody likes picking up other people’s rubbish, but a clean street can make all the difference. Go out once or twice a week and see what you can find. You never know, one day you might find something valuable!
Just tell us what you want to do. Then we’ll send you more information.

We usually get together to have a family reunion on that day, especially those who live far away would like to go back home to meet their family members. In the evening, we often eat moon cakes and watch the full moon. At that moment, we can not only enjoy the delicious food and the beautiful bright moonlight, but also have a pleasant time with our family members.
