一、单元整体概览
（一）单元主题
本单元学习的主题是Biographies，涉及“人与社会”“人与自我”两大主题范畴。本模块紧紧围绕人物传记这一主线，学习用一般过去时介绍人物的生平事迹，通过了解杨利伟和Helen Keller的生平事迹，帮助学生进一步复习一般过去时态的运用。理解和运用相关语言介绍中外名人的情况，乐于接触外国文化，增强祖国意识。

学情分析
学生在五年级已经学过一般过去时，这时态对学生来说并不陌生。但学生在灵活运用一般过去时描述榜样人物的故事方面还有困难。本课时的主题是杨利伟和神舟五号的故事，由于六年级的学生没有亲身经历神州五号发射这一历史壮举，只有通过上网查询资料对这一事件进行了解。如果学生在课前没有做好充分的准备，在课堂上很难与老师产生情感共鸣。这就需要教师在课前对学生的学习准备提出细致明确的要求，以达到更好的课堂教学效果。
二、单元内容分析
本模块内容是学习用一般过去时介绍人物的生平事迹，设计了两个语篇，包括U1 He spent about twenty-one hours in space. 和U2 She couldn’t see or hear.
语篇一是一篇短文，杨利伟的儿子撰写的关于杨利伟事迹的文章。2003年10月，杨利伟乘神舟五号载人飞船进入太空，在太空中飞行约21小时。他在太空中做了很多事情，还拍摄了视频，然后返回地球。杨利伟的儿子为自己的父亲感到骄傲，并希望自己有一天也能去太空。
