Christopher Reeve was an American actor, best known for playing the leading role in the film Superman and its three sequels. However, he was paralyzed by an accident from the neck down and had to depend on a wheelchair to walk and a ventilator to breathe.

He was thrown off his horse and broke his neck. His injuries were so severe that he had no movement or feeling in his body at all and even needed a machine to help him breathe. He was unable to continue with his charity work and his career.

1.Explain the meaning of the sentence “ What I do is based on powers we all have inside us...and you don’t have to be a ‘superman’ to do it.”
2.What’s your understanding of the title “The Superhero Behind Superman ”
The sentence means that normal people can do extraordinary things; we are all talented and gifted and can use these strengths to change the lives of others.
This title suggests that Christopher Reeve is a Superhero, not just in the movie but in everyday life. He showed extraordinary courage when faced with being paralysed for life. Even though he lived in pain, he committed himself to charity and inspired many people.
