三、阅读理解(原创)
(掘地一万米)At 11:46a.m. on May 30, 2023, with a giant drill (钻头) going through the desert, China's first 10,000 meters deep geological exploration well was officially drilled in the Tarim Basin (塔里木盆地), Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
This is a great event for our country to explore nature in the deep field. The hole will be 10,000 m deep when it is completed, and it will be the deepest hole ever dug in China and the second-deepest in the world. It is expected to take 457 days to dig the hole through the Tarim Basin's tough ground.
The company leading the project, China's National Petroleum Corp, said the hole will provide useful information on the Earth's internal structure (结构) while testing drilling technologies. The hole is being dug in a part of China that is rich in oil. Sun Jinsheng, a scientist at the Chinese Academy of Engineering said the hole would be very difficult to dig. “The difficulty of the drilling project can be compared to a big truck driving on two thin steel electric lines,” he said. But it was important to explore deep in the earth because it could help in finding mineral and energy resources. It could also help scientists study the risks of environmental disasters such as earthquakes and volcanic eruptions (火山喷发).
While some people joke about being able to dig to China from Australia on the other side of the world, we know this is not possible. The earth is made of three main layers: the core, the mantle and the crust. The crust is the outer layer or “skin” of the planet. It is about 40 km deep, meaning a 10 km hole will go through only one quarter of the crust.
The world's deepest man-made hole, the Kola Superdeep Hole is in Russia. This is 12,263 m deep, and it was completed in 1989. They stopped digging when the heat and pressure made drilling really difficult.
( )1.When will the 10 km hole be finished
A.On about August 30, 2023.
B.On about May 30, 2024.
C.On about February 29, 2024.
D.On about August 31, 2024.
( )2.What is the main purpose of Paragraph 3
A.To list the difficulties of the project.
B.To describe the process of the project.
C.To offer some suggestions on the project.
D.To explain the advantages that the project will bring.
( )3.What do the numbers in Paragraph 4 show
A.The 10 km hole can reach the mantle of the earth.
B.The 10 km hole is still far from the center of the earth.
C.The 10 km hole will reach about halfway to the core of the earth.
D.The 10 km hole couldn't even reach one quarter of the earth's crust.
( )4.What can we learn from the text
A.The Tarim Basin is rich in oil.
B.It is not difficult to dig the 10 km hole.
C.The 10 km hole will be the deepest hole ever dug in the world.
D.A big truck will be driven on two thin steel electric lines when digging the hole.
( )5.What can be the best title for the text
A.Use a new technology
B.Dig the first 10,000-meter-deep hole
C.Explore nature—the plant

四、
Have a better living environment
Recently I've found lots of rubbish in our neighborhood. The rubbish smells so bad that I want to leave the place as quickly as possible. In the past, there were trees and flowers on this piece of land. But now the environment is polluted. It has a terrible effect on people's life.
In my opinion, the government should clear out the rubbish as soon as possible. The rubbish pollutes the air. It's bad for people's health. Plants such as grass and flowers should be grown on the open ground. Everyone that lives there should throw rubbish in the right place, so that we can be in good health and have a better living environment.
