Read the sentences in the box and try to find what kind of describing word comes after the verb in the box, an adjective or an adverb
Most verbs are followed by an adverb but these are followed by an adjective.
英语动词中,有的动词后面要接名词或代词等作宾语,有的可以单独作谓语,而有的则要接形容词或名词等作主语的补充成分。
我们把后面接主语补充成分的动词称为系动词,同学们最熟悉, 最常用的系动词就是be。除be以外,很多感官动词,如feel, taste, look等也可以当系动词使用。
表示感觉或感知的系动词
This bed feels hard.
The cookies taste sweet.
You look tired.
The milk smells sour.
The idea sounds good.
这张床摸起来硬邦邦的。
饼干吃起来甜甜的。
你看上去累了。
牛奶用起来有股馊味儿。
这主意听起来不错。
上面用到的系动词 feel, taste, look,smell,sound 相当于汉语中的 “摸起来”“尝起来”“看上去”“闻起来”和“听起来”的概念。
要注意这类系动词与系动词be不同,其否定形式和疑问形式的构成要借助助动词 do。
这些菜肴闻起来不是很好。
