What are the astronauts' bedrooms like in a space station Do water drops fly away when astronauts have a drink Let's take a look at some scientific facts in space.
Use it or lose it
The human body grows with the pull of Earth's gravity (重力). But in space, our bones and muscles don't need to support our body's weight. This will cause bones and muscles loss. That is dangerous for astronauts because they will be too weak to work.
Astronauts have different ways to prevent this. One of them is a special uniform. It's called a “penguin suit”. There are many elastic(弹力) bands inside the suit. Wearing it, astronauts use their muscles to stretch (拉伸) the bands. This keeps their muscles strong.
Space water is different
During another experiment, Wang made a water film (膜). Then she added more water drops onto the film to make a water ball. This can never happen on the earth. Why
We need to first understand the surface tension (表面张力) of water. Surface tension is like a “skin”of water. The “skin” is there because water molecules (分子) are drawn to each other.
Water in space acts differently from water on the earth in other ways. For example, water will not flow downward if you try to pour it into a cup. That's why astronauts usually drink water through straws in sealed (密封的) bags. If astronauts cry, the tears will stay on their eyeballs instead of falling down. They have to wipe them away!

四、阅读理解(2021·江西)
Eight hundred years ago, a man in southern Turkey invented an amazing clock. It was more than 7 meters high. At its base (基座) was a life-size model elephant. Every half hour, something amazing happened. The whole clock came alive: Model birds, dragons, and people started to move.
The clock's inventor was an engineer named al-Jazari who lived in Türkiye. Al-Jazari was probably one of the greatest engineers in history. Some historians call him “the father of modern-day engineering”.
We know about al-Jazari mostly from a book that he wrote. They include clocks and hand-washing machines. The book also has drawings that show how each machine works.
Many everyday things today—from toys to car engines (发动机)—still use al-Jazari's ideas. Without his machines with moving parts, we might not have modern-day robots.
Today, it is still possible to see what al-Jazari's elephant cock looked like. A full-size working mode is in Dubai's Ibn Battuta Mall. There, every half hour, al-Jazari's most amazing invention comes to life once again.
How Does the Elephant Clock Work
A bowl with a small hole floats (浮) in a water tank (水箱) inside
the elephant's body. As the bowl slowly sinks (下沉), it pulls a rope that moves a human figure. His moving pen shows the number of minutes past he hour.
Every half hour, the water bowl becomes full and sinks completely. This causes a ball to fall from the top of the clock. The movement of the ball causes a phoenix to move and make a sound.
The ball then drops out of a falcon's mouth into the mouth of a Chinese dragon. The weight of the ball causes the dragon's head to move down and the dragon's tail pulls the water bowl back up.
Finally, the ball drops out of the dragon's mouth and into a vase. As the ball lands in the vase, the elephant driver moves and makes a sound. The cycle begins again until there are no more balls in the top of the clock.
( )16.Why is al-Jazari called “the father of modern-day engineering”

四、阅读理解
DNA is the whole “map” of the human body. It is something that all humans have, and it tells the body what to do. DNA is the reason that we look like our parents, because we get some of their DNA to make our own.
People have been trying to understand the human body for a long time. In 1860, Mr. Mendel discovered why we look the same as other people in our family. It is because of small things called “genes” in our body. In 1953, two scientists, Watson and Crick, found out that those small parts are really messages. They're written in the DNA with a special language.
In 1961, another two scientists found the first “word” that they could understand in that language. It shows how DNA tells the cell to build its parts, so scientists have found the words in the DNA map, but we still do not understand what they all do. By understanding what just one “word” means, we can help to save people from several illnesses. So the more we understand, the more doctors will be able to do.
Most people hope that this will help to make better medicine and help sick people. Other people worry that when we learn more “words” and find out more information, we will use it in the wrong way, just to make people more attractive, or stop sick people getting jobs.
