Grammar
【知识精讲】
“sth. + be + 数词 + 表单位的词 + 形容词（长、宽、高、深等）”表示“某物……长/宽/高/深”。
hundred：“百”，前面可以用基数词修饰，表示具体数字。
hundreds of“几倍，成百上千的”，表示模糊数字。
square：n.“正方形；广场”； adj.“平方的；方形的”。
square metres“平方米”。
in size：“大小，规模”。
→询问尺寸：what size。
→ in colour“在颜色上”。
in age“在年龄上”。
in weight“在体重上”。
in length“在长度上”。
in area“在面积上”。
area：n.“面积”；“领域，方面，地区”。
have an area of = be...in area/size“有……面积”。
over：prep.“超过”= more than。

【单元语法】
基数词
基数词的构成：
（1）1~12为独立的单词,有其各自的形式。
（2）13~19都以teen结尾,都有两个重读音节。
（3）20~90之间的整十数都以ty结尾。
（4）表示20~99之间的非整十数时，先说十位数，再说个位数。书写时十位和个位之间要加连字符。
（5）表示101~999之间的数时，先说百位数，再加and，再加末两位数(或末位数)。
（6）表示1000以上的数时，首先从右往左数，每三位用一个逗号隔开，第一个逗号表示thousand，第 二个表示million，第三个表示billion，然后再一节一节表示。
基数词的用法：
（1）表示数量的多少。
（2）表示年份、年代、年龄。年份要用基数词，每两位一读。
（3）表示时刻。
（4）表示编号。
①简单的编号(一位数或两位数)，一般用普通的基数词表示即可。
No.16读作number sixteen 第16号
②较长的数字，就用简化的方法读。例如：
Page 135读作page one three five 第135页
（5）表示人的不确切岁数或年代，用几十的复数形式表示。
表示倍数、加减乘除等用基数词。
百分数用基数词表示，百分号读作percent。
小数用基数词表示。小数点前面的整数按基数词的规则表示，小数点写作point，小数点后的数字应将数字直接表示出来。
“基数词+单数名词”作定语，相当于复合形容词，中间用连词符连接。

序数词
序数词的构成：
（1）大多数序数词都是在基数词词尾加上th构成的，而first，second，third需要特别记忆。
（2）表示4~19的序数词，除fifth，eighth，ninth，twelfth的拼写特殊外，其余都在相应的基数词词尾加th构成。如seventh，thirteenth，nineteenth。
（3）表示20~90之间的整十的序数词，将基数词词尾的y变为ie，再加上th构成。如twentieth，seventieth，ninetieth。
（4）几十几、几百几十几或更多位数的序数词只需将个位上的基数词变为序数词，中间用连字符连接。如twenty-first，sixty-eighth。
序数词的用法：
（1）表示编号。
the sixth lesson = Lesson Six 第六课
（2）表示日期。
20 October/October 20读作October the twentieth或the twentieth of October 10月20日
（3）分数用“基数词+序数词”表示，其中基数词表示分子，序数词表示分母。
One fifth of the students here are from the country. 这儿1/5的学生来自农村。
注意：如果分子大于1，分母要用复数形式。 3/4可以说three fourths。
（4）在英语中，使用序数词时前面要加定冠词the，但是，在下面的情况则不用加the。
①当序数词前有形容词性物主代词或名词所有格修饰时，序数词前不用the。
②当表达“又一，再一”时，序数词前不用the，但可以加不定冠词。
③当表达“年月日”，尤其在朗读时，序数词前要加the；但书写时，序数词前不用the。
④当序数词在句中作状语时，序数词前不用the。

序数词
