Part 1
Jenny was very happy.
Jenny couldn't resist her inner joy, flying into the door like a bird.
(Jenny
Part 2
Part 3
(明喻) Shenzhen is like a melting pot where new ideas are mixed.
(暗喻) Shenzhen is a melting pot where new ideas are mixed.
经常有:like, as, as…as, as if。
Finally I managed to put my whole head into it, like a cork forced into a bottle. 这个句子中,就用到了明喻,“like a cork forced into a bottle”像软木塞进了瓶子里。
Paul looked out the back window and saw the wolf standing over Mac’s bike as if it were a kill.
The smile on her face shone like a diamond.
I feel like I am floating in an ocean of sadness.
你可能会用His face was cold.在这里,我们可以用上之前讲解过的“动作细化”原则,再加上今天学习的比喻,我们看看这个句子的效果如何?I reached out to touch her face, which was as cold as the ice.
Her hair was a flowing golden river streaming down her shoulders.
Part 4
Stars winked at me in a darkening sky.
The forest is very dark.或者It’s dark in the forest. Immediately, an absolute darkness ruled the forest.
The church has witnessed the city's changes in the past 20 years.
Birds on the tree are singing a beautiful song.
Part 5
第一句:My heart was broken 我心碎了。
My heart broke in about a million pieces.
好了,我已经猜到了,难道是it’s very cold. It was so cold that…When the men spoke, their words froze in the air. Everything they said remained frozen all winter long, and did not melt until spring.
The rabbit made me jump out of my skin. 我的“魂”竟然从皮肤里跳了出来jump out of my skin,是不是很夸张!
①My heart almost stopped beating when I heard my daughter's voice on the phone.
②I was so hungry that I could eat a horse.
③When she heard the bad news, a river of tears poured out.
Part 6
举个例子:I love everybody. My love goes to everybody.
My love goes to everybody.
We don’t think so.If we want light,we must conquer darkness.
We don’t think so.If we want light, darkness must be conquered.
比如:I forgot his name. His name was forgotten by me.
His name slipped my mind.
His name didn't take root in my mind.
He was so nervous. A wave of nervousness washed over him.
He was excited.
Life has told us that-...
Motherland, always,is drawing the heart of overseas Chinese.
与之对应的动词有:seize(侵袭,突然控制), choke(使哽咽),flood(使大受感动,充满),creep(不知不觉地产生), grip(紧抓),give way to(被…
(1)Panic seized her.
(2)Despair choked her words.
(3)A great sense of relief flooded over him.
这类名词有:the town(镇),the following year(第二年)等。
与之对应的动词有:witness(见证), find, see, boast(有引以为荣的事物)等。
(1)Beijing has witnessed great changes in recent years.
(2)The following year saw the death of his mother.
(3)The town boasts a beautiful lake.
(1)The thick fog blanketed the field.
(2)An earthquake came like a thief in the night, without warning.
(3)The rain prevented tourists from enjoying the full moon.
与之对应的动词有:light up(照亮), brighten(照亮), linger(继续存留), well up(涌出), flash等词。
(1)Her face lit up/brightened when I gave her the present.
(2)Laughter lingered around the room.
(3)When he saw the familiar handwriting, tears welled up in his eyes.
与之对应的动词有:strike(打), arouse(唤起),remind, delight, frighten,overwhelm(压倒)等词。
(1)A terrible thought suddenly struck me.
(2)The sight of the scene filled me with horror.

Ella’s First Fashion Creation
Ella was wearing a new dress and she felt like a famous model, Even better, it was a dress she made! Her very first piece of fashion!
“What do you think ” she asked her family. They were all gathered at the kitchen table for breakfast. “It’s very pretty. I can’t believe you designed and sewed that all by yourself!” Mom said.“I’m so proud of you! How long did that take ”Dad asked. Ella pulled out her chair and sat down.“Two weeks! But I think I could make the next one faster. I had a few problems.
Ella smiled. She had so many problems making the dress, but right now it was all worth it. It was going to be a great day.
The kids at school weren’t quite as excited about her dress as she thought they would be, but she did get some nice comments from some of the girls, so she was happy about that. The day went by quickly, and before she knew it, she was outside for the last break of the day. What a perfect day, she thought to herself as she swung on the swings.
The school bell rang and the break was over. When the swing was close to stopping, Ella jumped off. When she landed, she heard a loud rip (撕裂). She moved her hand to the back of her dress. It was ripped all the way down the back! Her very first fashion creation fell apart! Ella was so embarrassed.
Ella spotted her teacher, Miss Miller, near the door. Ella took one hand from her dress and waved for Miss Miller to come to her. Miss Miller came up and looked at the back of Ella’s dress.“Oh no! And it is such a beautiful dress!” “I made it myself,” Ella said. “You must be very proud! You did a great job!” “Not really. Or it wouldn’t have ripped.” “Well, that happens sometimes. Even with clothes you buy in the store!”

It was dark, cold and raining on December 24. James left his office and walked slowly across the street to the parking place. He was very tired. He took out his car key and put down his umbrella. He put the key into the lock and turned it. Nothing happened. The door would not open. Then James realised that it was the wrong car. His car was red, but this one was dark blue. “Oh dear! I must have parked in a different place this morning,” thought he. Putting up his umbrella, he set off to look for his car. The rain poured down and the evening got colder and colder.
Having walked round all the side streets, James didn’t find his car. He was exhausted and angry. “Someone must have stolen my car,” he thought. “Now I shall have to go to the police station and report it.” The policeman there was very helpful. He wrote down a description of James car and then took his address and telephone number. As James was leaving, the policeman wished him a merry Christmas.
“Christmas!” thought James. “Oh no! I’ve forgotten all about Christmas. I haven’t bought my wife a present and now all the shops are shut. What shall I do ” When waiting for the bus, he got wetter and more miserable (难受的). He had no umbrella and the rain flowed down into his collar. He felt like bursting into tears.
When James got home, he found his wife standing on a chair and looking for something in a very high cupboard. “What are you doing, Jessica ” he asked. “The big gold star for the Christmas tree,” Jessica replied. “Just a moment. I’ll go into the garage (车库) and fetch the stepladder (梯子) for you,” said James. When James saw .the well-decorated Christmas tree and lots of presents under it, he felt even more unhappy. “What a lovely tree!” he thought as he went downstairs, “I haven’t even got one present for Jessica. I’ve lost my car and I’m completely wet. I must have lost my umbrella, too.”

DRUMMING WITH GRANDPA
Roger was filled with excitement as his mother told him his grandfather was on his way over. He always had fun together with his grandfather who once drummed in a band. They could make the whole house shake with their joyful music. Roger got excited and practiced drumming all morning.
Finally, Dad's car pulled up in front of the house. Upon hearing the car door opened. Roger shouted for joy from his bedroom window, "Hi, Grandpa! Listen to this!” Taking a deep breath, he raised his drumsticks and began rocking and rolling, just like Grandpa had taught him. Jumping up. he raced outside to his grandfather and asked, "Grandpa. what do you think Are you ready to drum together " Grandpa, giving Roger a hug, said. "It was wonderful, but I'm afraid I can't play right now.” Dad smiled at Roger, telling him some of Grandpa's finger joints were hurting him and that maybe he would want to play after a short rest. Roger didn't ask again.
After lunch, Roger went to his room to get his skateboard, finding someone had already stepped into the room. It was Grandpa who stood near the drum set. He picked up a drumstick and began to play. Thump! Thump! But just with two thumps, the drumstick fell onto the floor. Grandpa reached for it, trying to pick it up, but the drumstick fell out of his hand. He tried again and the same thing happened. Grandpa moved his red and swollen fingers, looking upset. Seeing this, Roger shut the door noiselessly. He walked to the sitting room where Dad was reading and asked Dad to drive him to his friend's house. "David has a drum with the pedal (踏板)and I'd like to borrow it," Roger told Dad about his plan. Dad got the car keys and off they went.

It was one of those days when nothing seemed to go right. I dragged myself out of the bed and all of the routines began early. I dropped my two older children at school with relief and unwillingly headed to the supermarket to buy groceries with my youngest. I wasn't feeling any sense of appreciation for my comfortable home or lovely family.
I was getting mad with this early day, and my son, just four years old at that time, was being difficult. I raced around to pick the items with no regard to cost, while trying to control my naughty child whose behavior had now added to my complete displeasure. Yes, I was that mother, threatening, and roaring at a small child.
We eventually made it to the checkout and stood in the queue waiting for our turn. After a short time, I noticed that someone had joined the line behind us. I turned and saw an old man. He wore a dirty overcoat. His shoes were worn out, and his trousers tapped around sockless ankles on this cold, wet day. In his hands he just carried a small box of long-life milk.
I had too many groceries. I asked him if he'd like to go ahead of me. It wasn't an act of kindness on my part, also not my automatic reaction. Perhaps I just did out of a sense of guilt, or I just wanted him gone. After all, his presence made me uncomfortable. In the same way, I felt uncomfortable and avoided my eyes when passing a homeless person.
He didn't respond to me as if I had said nothing to him. I looked at him and repeated my words. This time, I was sure that he had heard what I said.

Back in the early 1980s, the idea of home computers was catching on. I wasn't keen on getting one. Somehow, I evolved and have owned several computers over the years. Some days, I loved my computer, but more often than not, I hated it. I didn't grow up with them, and they were a challenge to my mental health. Dealing with modern technology was my introduction to stress, and I know who to blame: my children.
They weren't satisfied that their dad and I finally bought a computer and learned to send e-mails. We were quite happy with that, but next came a cellphone. Then just talking on the phone was not acceptable; they insisted we learn to text as well. We couldn't get a break.
I remember well the night that Facebook became a household word around here. Those kids of ours were determined to set up a joint account for us. It took some convincing. We felt no guilt for grating on (激怒) their nerves considering the drama they'd sometimes created for us during their teenage years. A little payback wouldn't hurt those two.
More recently, my husband and I were forced into getting rid of our flip phones and getting smartphones. I will admit that I progressed into appreciating mine. I liked speaking to Siri and finding out what I needed to know in an instant. I enjoyed having Internet access everywhere I went. I felt a sense of accomplishment; my husband-not so much. To this day, he would happily take back his flip phone.
Last Christmas, our children surprised us with yet another popular form of technology-Alexa. The girls took our smartphones in hand and got us programmed. Before we fully understood what was happening, we could tell Alexa to turn our lamp on or off, and she would. To be honest, we were a bit annoyed at having to learn how to use yet another device, but we decided to keep it. We mastered turning the lamp on and off, and once again I got the hang of it sooner than my husband did. I became his Alexa coach.

One of my most memorable trips took place during the summer vacation about three years ago, when my sister, my aunt and I took a trip to Spain because we were moving. On the day of the trip, I lay in bed thinking about my friends whom I was going to leave behind and thoughts were flooding in.
When we arrived at the hire station, we seemed to have some problems with our luggage because it was too much for a taxi, so we had to book a van (厢式送货车) to take our luggage to the airport. We waited for a long period to find a perfect van that would fit our luggage.
Before leaving, I felt very bad because I was going to a different country and was going to miss all my friends and family. I was not comfortable and cried.
The journey was almost perfect at the beginning, but soon it began to rain. Because of the rain, the drivers could not see far away, which caused a huge traffic jam. I was sitting by the window with a can of Coke that I had bought in the store earlier. My aunt and sister fell asleep, and during this time. I felt bored and thought about other things that bothered me. My eyes turned to the mountain in front of us.
A bus suddenly appeared in the picture. It was very close to us. Cars sped past us without any speed limit. Beside me was a very deep lake: I wondered to myself what if something or someone fell inside it. Suddenly, a bus in front of our van stopped, and because it was raining heavily and the van was going fast, no one could see what was going to happen. Then, bang, we bumped into each other. Our van overturned, but luckily, it didn’t fall into the lake. People came to help us get out of the van because we were blocked and the driver was half-dead.

Missus Sommers one day found herself the unexpected owner of fifteen dollars. It seemed to her a very large amount of money. For a day or two she walked around in a dreamy state as she thought about her choices. Her daughter Janie was wearing worn shoes and needed new ones. She would buy cloth for new shirts for the boys. Her daughter Mag should have another dress. And still there would be enough left for new stockings for her children. The idea about how to spend the dollars made her restless with excitement.
On the day she planned to go shopping with the money, she ate a light meal- no! Between getting the children fed and the house cleaned, and preparing herself to go shopping, she forgot to eat at all!
When she arrived at the large department store, she spotted a pile of silk stockings at the entrance. A sign nearby announced that they had been reduced in price a young girl behind the counter asked her if she wished to examine the silky leg coverings. She smiled as if she had been asked to inspect diamond jewelry, and started to feel the soft, expensive items. Missus Sommers picked up a black pair and looked at them closely. Two red marks suddenly showed on her pale face. She looked up at the shop girl and said proudly, “Well, I will buy this pair.”
Missus Sommers changed her cotton stockings for the new silk ones in the ladies’ rest area. She had let herself be controlled by some machine-like force that directed her actions and freed her of responsibility. How good was the touch of the silk on her skin! Then she put her shoes back on and put her old stockings into her bag. Next, she went to the shoe department, where she tried on a pair of new boots. Her foot and ankle looked lovely. She could not believe that they were a part of herself.

Mei Mei frowned as she helped her mother and father set out the cooking supplies in the shiny steel kitchen. Her family had just moved here from San Francisco, having bought a small restaurant, which was set to open in the next few days.
“Moving here was a stupid idea. I have lost all my friends in San Francisco. What should I do now ” Mei Mei grumbled, mostly to herself.
“What's that ” Her mother asked, opening a box and lifting out several pots and a wok.
“Nothing,” Mei Mei mumbled. The girl had been complaining about the move, but her parents had made the decision and were now too busy getting ready for the grand opening to listen to her complaints.
The first few days at her new school hadn't been easy, either. She found it hard to talk to people she didn't know, and it seemed like the students hadn't even noticed her. Mei Mei sighed and got back to washing dishes.
On the day of the grand opening, Mei Mei's parents were all smiles, welcoming customers into the restaurant, brightly decorated in gold and red. Even Mei Mei was in a good mood as she rushed around, seating guests, handing out menus, and pouring tall glasses of water. This was a big day for her family.
At one of the tables sat a family with two daughters who were about Mei Mei's age. As she filled their glasses, Mei Mei realized the twins were in her class. Mei Mei ducked her head down so her long hair covered her face, and she turned away from the table.
Mei Mei's mother found her soon after, in the kitchen loading the dishwasher.
“Honey, what are you doing back here We need you out front with the customers.”

Carl lost his job. He tried to find another one but it wasn’t easy. As a result, the poor fellow couldn’t pay his bills and he couldn’t even find anybody to lend him any.
Carl spent most of his days at home. Sometimes he looked out of the window and watched his neighbor’s house. An old professor lived there alone. Strangely, he hardly talked to his neighbors. Carl could see into the professor’s house because he never drew the curtain. The rooms were full of antique (古董) furniture and vases. Carl thought, “If I got an antique vase, I could sell it for a lot of money.”
Every day Carl saw the professor. He left at 10 o’clock in the morning and came back home at 4 o’clock in the afternoon. He had a dog. Carl often went to the fence and played with it or gave it a piece of meat.
One day Carl thought, “I will go into the professor’s house and steal a vase. I will break the window and climb in. The dog is not a problem.”
There was an old gun in the cellar(地下室). It had been his great grandfather’s favorite thing a long time before. Carl didn’t want to use the gun but he thought, “Anything could happen.”
He wanted to hide the gun under his coat but it was too long so he had to cut the end off with a saw(锯).
The next morning he watched the professor leaving home at 10 o’clock. Carl climbed over the fence. The dog ran to him and Carl gave it a big bone. He threw a piece of stone through the window, which broke. It wasn’t high. He could climb into the house easily.
He looked around inside. There were paintings on the walls, small figures and vases on the shelves and the floor. Carl didn’t know much about arts. He couldn’t choose. He reached his hands towards a big vase when he heard a noise. The front door opened and someone entered the house.

A young woman was waiting for her flight at an airport. She was leaving for London because she got a new job there. It was said that her new boss was a typical English gentleman----polite, modest, humorous and considerate. She was excited as well as a little nervous about her new life.
With several long hours before her flight, the woman hunted for a book in the airport shops, bought a packet of cookies and found a place to sit. She took out a book and started to read. Although she was absorbed in her book, she happened to see that the man sitting beside her, as bold(大胆的)as he could be, grabbed(抓)a cookie or two from the bag in between them. Educated to be well-mannered, she tried to ignore it to avoid an argument. But to show that she was the owner, she started to take cookies from that bag too. Unfortunately, the man didn't get that hint(暗示), since he didn't stop grabbing the cookies.
"How annoying!" she thought. As the greedy cookie thief kept eating, the woman munched(用力咀嚼)some cookies and watched the clock.
She was getting angrier as the minutes went by, thinking, "If I weren't so nice, I would blacken his eyes." With each cookie she took, he took one, too; when only one was left, she wondered what he would do.
With a smile on his face, and a nervous laugh, he took the last cookie and broke it in half. He offered her a half, and ate the other. She grabbed it from him, glared at him and thought, "Oh, brother. This guy has some nerve and he is so rude! Why didn't he even show any gratefulness "
She had never known when she had been so angry, and sighed in relief when her flight was called. She gathered her belongings and headed to the gate quickly, refusing to look back at the rude thief. She boarded the plane, sank in her seat, and looked for her book, which was almost complete.

Part 7

注意:
1.续写词数应为150词左右;
Miss Miller took off her sweater and helped Ella to pull it on.

____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Miss Miller took off her sweater and helped Ella to pull it on. She helped Ella up and walked her back to the classroom. As soon as she sat down, she heard a girl laughing at her torn clothes. Ella was very sad and felt very defeated. Miss Miller came to Ella and said, "Your clothes are very beautiful. You shouldn't deny yourself because it is broken.". After hearing this, Ella called her mother and asked her mother to pick her up. Because her clothes were broken, she couldn't walk home by herself. When her mother came, she saw what had happened and was distressed.
“We can’t avoid problems,” said Mom. “When the problem arises, we should find a way to solve the problem instead of complaining about ourselves. Now your dress is broken and you just need to sew it”. After saying that, mother took out the sewing bag and handed it to Ella, who took over the sewing bag and nodded to her mother. Then she stitched up the broken part of the dress.

As James opened the garage door, he spotted something, frozen in amazement. Inside the garage was his red car. He suddenly remembered that it wouldn’t start this morning so he just took a taxi to work. James was overjoyed. He was just about to rush upstairs and tell Jessica the good news when he heard, “Meow! Meow!” He looked inside the car and there sat a small kitten with pointed ears and green eyes. James’ eyes were glued to the kitten for a few minutes and a brilliant idea struck him. “This is for Jessica.” He picked the kitten up.
Pleased to know his car was there, James entered the room with the present. “This is your present,” said to Jessica happily. “Oh, thank you, darling. I’ve always wanted a kitten,” her face lit up. Just then the telephone rang. It was the policeman. James was told that his car hadn’t been found but his umbrella was got in the police station. Putting the phone down, James gazed at Jessica, joy welling up inside him. Bathed in the warm Christmas atmosphere, James walked over to Jessica and hugged her tightly.

The drumstick swung forward. Thump! Thump! Thump! The pedal worked smoothly and the thumps filled the whole room. “Would you like to have a try " Roger turned to Grandpa with his eyes full of expectation.
Slowly, Grandpa reached out his foot and pushed the pedal as Roger did. Thump! Thump! Grandpa smiled and continued with greater enthusiasm. “Join in, Roger!" Grandpa shouted to Roger excitedly and his cheerful voice was even louder than the drum rolls. Roger grinned from ear to ear as he picked up his drumsticks. He rocked and rolled, and so did Grandpa.

He looked surprised and uncertain.

He looked surprised and uncertain. He asked me quietly, “Madam, I possibly couldn’t do it. Are you sure ” “Sure!” I confirmed, nodding at him unwillingly. He went ahead slowly, paid for the milk, and took his change. Then, to my amazement, he turned to my child and pressed the change into his hand. Without any more words, he turned around and disappeared into the crowds. Seeing this, a sense of guilt flooded into my mind. I looked around anxiously, hoping that he hadn’t walked away.
I had to find him and gave back the change. Out of the supermarket, an old man with a dirty overcoat and sockless ankles caught my attention. I ran to him quickly, pressing back the change into his hand with a big bag of bread for his kindness. I hurried away before he expressed his thanks. At this moment, my guilt gave way to the relief. Also, I felt comfortable about my home, family, and even my life, rather than being mad. A gentle breeze softly kissed me. I went home with my lovely child happily as well as gratefully.

1.续写词数应为150左右;
One night, Alexa did not turn on the lamp when I gave the command.

We should thank our children and grandchildren.

One night, Alexa did not turn on the lamp when I gave the command. I tried to say “Turn on the light” to it countless times, but Alexa didn’t work. “New technologies are always unreliable.” my husband complained. I searched the Internet and immediately found the reason why Alex couldn’t work. I just needed to tell Alex to set the light color to white or whatever color I wanted, and then it would turn on the light. Then Alex turned on the light itself.
We should thank our children and grandchildren. It was our children and grandchildren that taught us to use technology so that I could find a solution on the Internet by myself. Without them, our life is always invariable and boring. Our children and grandchildren “force” us to accept and use technology, which seems to put us under pressure. However, the fact is that our children and grandchildren let us really accept and use technology to make our life more convenient.

We struggled to get out of the van and everything we had was gone. Everything was very strange. I had never had that kind of experience before. It was like watching a horror movie. Some people who were also in the accident started crying, looking for their children, tears beginning to increase. My leg was badly injured. My aunt was calling to seek some help, and my sister was full of injury. It almost seemed that the tragedy was never going to end.
I was losing a lot of blood and then the emergency aid came. They took us to hospital where we were treated. We had to pay for some fees, but we had no money. The doctors and nurses who were present learned of our condition and paid for us. Although we had experienced a bad accident, we were all lucky to have received help from those warm-hearted people. After that we went on with our journey and reached our destination successfully at last.
