1. 委婉地请求别人做某事(提出请求)
句型:Could you do… / Could you please do…

否定回答: No, I can’t./Certainly not./
No, I’m afraid I can’t.

borrow v. 借;借用

【辨析】borrow与 lend
borrow 借入 borrow sth. from +地点 或borrow sth. from sb. You can borrow this novel from the library.你可以从图书馆借这本小说。
lend 借出 lend sb. sth.=lend sth. to sb. I lent it to Lucy yesterday.我昨天将它借给露西了。
【注意】
keep也可表示“借”,是延续性动词,常与一段时间连用,表示“借用多长时间”。而borrow和lend是非延续性动词,不能与一段时间连用。

hang out闲逛(常用于美语口语中),还可以表示“常去某处;泡在某处”。

【注意】当直接宾语是代词时,只能使用pass sth.to sb.

【归纳】类似pass后跟双宾语的常见单词:give,bring,teach,show,hand,throw,fetch,read,lend等。及物动词后的双宾语,交换位置后除用介词to,还可用for。如:buy sb. sth.=buy sth. for sb.,cook sb. sth.=cook sth. for sb.等。
【拓展】(1)pass =go past经过,穿过
eg:I passed a bank when I went to school.

(2)pass通过(考试、检查等),其反义词为fail(不及格)
