A Possible Version
Dear Olympic Organizing Committee,
I am interested in some voluntary work for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. So I
am writing to apply to be a volunteer.
As a sports fan, I am keen on sports and I have always been expecting the Games
to be held here. Besides, I have a good command of English, which can be convenient
for me to communicate with others. Also, I am considered to be an outgoing, reliable
and helpful person. I’m sure I will offer the best service to whoever participates in the
Games.
I would appreciate it if you could give me a chance and I do hope I can be
accepted as a member of volunteers. Looking forward to your reply.
Yours,
Li Hua

happened to Simon. Then, the policemen checked for any missing person's report
without any delay. Meanwhile, they drove the two of them around the nearby
neighborhood one by one to search for Simon's home. Finally, they successfully
contacted the little boy's parents. Cory was more than glad to see Simon's reunion
with his parents.
Seeing the reunion of Simon and his parents, Cory was deeply touched. He
thought of his own parents, the warm home and his mother's delicious supper. He
though this parents must have been as worried as Simon's and they must have been
anxiously searching everywhere for their son right now. The more he thought about it,

well
M: No, the money is pretty good. But they always pay me really late, and it causes me a lot of

M: You’re right. But how do I tell them
W: Well, in a perfect world, would you like to keep working with them
M: Yes. I enjoy the work, and they’re really nice people.

Thanks, Lydia! (17)
Text 10
Like most fashion design students, I’ve always dreamed of visiting Milan. (18) After all,
it’s one of the world’s most fashionable cities. So, when I got the chance to spend a year
studying here, I jumped at it! (18) The city is amazing, and when I’m not studying, I’m
shopping, sightseeing and taking in Italian history and culture. However, one day, I found myself
feeling a little homesick, which led me to the local Chinatown area. I went in search of some
food and company that would remind me of home. (19) But when I arrived, I couldn’t
understand anybody! I soon found out that the most common language used here is not
Mandarin but Wenzhounese (温州话). (20) Back home, Wenzhounese is known as one of the
most difficult languages in the world. And I can’t speak it at all. (20) And as I later learned, it’s
widely spoken among the Chinese living in Southern Europe, in Spain, France and particularly in
Italy. So, if I ever do follow my dream to move to Milan someday, I’ll have not one but two new
languages to learn!
