We advised them to start early.
advice 表示“建议,忠告”,是不可数名词。要表示“一条建议”,应用a piece of advice；“一句忠告”为a word of advice。

注意advice的动词是advise，常用词组为advise sb. to do sth.。
e.g 我们建议他们及早开始。
