第四部分 写作(共两节,满分 40分)
第一节(应用文写作,满分 15 分):
Possible version 1:
Dear Ryan,
I am Li Hua from Grade 2, a participant in the last continuation writing competition. Having scored only 14 for my
continuation writing, I felt it unfair, so I am writing to you to state my reasons.
For my writing, I felt it totally meets the requirements put forward in the contest. To begin with, the structure of my
composition is definitely clear and the plot develops reasonably, no prolixity at all. Additionally, the words and
sentences used are colorful, without repeatedly using the same word. I even wrote some compound sentences to
update my writing, such as attributive clause, the emphatic pattern, inverted sentence and so on. Finally, a well-
known saying is used to end my article, which I think is a perfect highlight of the passage.
In a word, with the merits mentioned above, I wonder why I got such a low score. If it is convenient for you, please
give me an explanation.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua
Possible version 2:
Dear Ryan,
I am Li Hua from Grade 2, a participant in the last continuation writing competition. I received a score of 14 out of
25, and I believe this score is unreasonably low.
Firstly, I carefully followed the guidelines and requirements of the competition. I made sure to address the given
topic and structure my writing appropriately. Secondly, I also paid attention to grammar, vocabulary, and coherence
in my composition. Therefore, I believe my writing should have been evaluated more favorably.
In conclusion, I feel that my score of 14 does not accurately represent my writing abilities. I kindly request you to
reconsider my score and provide me with a fair evaluation.
Thank you for your attention to this matter. I look forward to your prompt response.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

第二节(读后续写,满分 25 分):
On the way back to town, Tony began to worry that the other boys might already have sold or traded their
mangoes with Honey House. When finally reaching Honey House, Tony just rushed in, out of breath. The owner of
the store looked at him with a curious look. On hearing Tony’s explanation, the owner opened the bag to check the
mangoes. To Tony’s disappointment, they’re not enough to exchange a lovely doll. He walked out with tears rolling
down his face when he met the other boys carrying bags of mangoes. Knowing Tony’s situation, they decided to
gather all their mangoes to give his sister a dream present.
The following morning, Alice walked into the kitchen and took a seat at the breakfast table. When
subconsciously reaching out for a glass cup, she found a card saying “Look at the sofa.” Then she surprisingly saw
the doll she had been dreaming of for a long time. When Tony said “Happy birthday,” Alice couldn’t help crying
and hugged him tightly. Touched by the warm atmosphere, their parents smiled with pleasure, knowing their son
had grown up and reliable enough to take care of his sister. They felt very relieved.

W: Hi, Tom. I was wondering if you could spare me some minutes.
M: Sure. What is it
W: I remember you toll me that developing a taste for classical music could improve one’s intelligence at least for
a short while. Could you tell me more about it
M: Yes. The conclusion was drawn after studying the IQ of 100 senior high students before and after they had
listened to a variety of online music.
W: I remember you mentioned Beethoven or…
M: Yes. It is quite interesting that those who listened to a Beethoven piece had a higher IQ than those who had not.
W: That’s really interesting. Does that indicate that Beethoven had a higher IQ than other people?
M: I doubt it. That’s beyond the range of my research.
W: How did you carry out the tests?
M: I had 50 students complete the exercise twice, after listening to a piece of Beethoven’s. I had the other 50 students
listen to other music.
W:What was the performance of the students?
M: The IQ improvements were so obvious that I could not even believe the results.
W: How long does the effect last
M: I am not sure, but it is less than 20 minutes.
Text 10
During my last year of school, I was given the opportunity to visit an adviser and I drove her crazy with my
choices.
My first choice was a chocolate tester. I discovered that chocolate testers earn a lot of money. so I was sure I
had found my dream job. However, when I found out that chocolate testers don’t just sit around eating chocolate
all day, they are also involved in the marketing and promotion of the product. I finally gave it up.
Next, I thought of becoming a football referee. I had loved football from a young age, but I couldn’t play well.
Anyway, it seems that referees must be able to run 2.5 miles in less than twelve minutes and they are required to
take exams throughout their training. On top of that, only after many years of experience-and if they are lucky-do
they get the chance to referee big professional matches. So, my dream of showing Lionel Messi a red card
disappeared.
Finally, I had this perfect idea of becoming a dos stylist after I realized how much money our dog stylist was
being paid. However, once, while a young girl was styling our Spotty, I noticed he tried to bite her. As you can
imagine, that really put me of.
All this research made me realize I had a gift for collecting information, so I had decided to become a journalist.
