In the near future, instead of going to your wardrobe (衣柜) to choose something to throw on for your next video call, you might turn to your virtual wardrobe to pick out a 3D digital dress to wear. At least, that's what a number of people in the fashion and tech space are relying on as more businesses look to the promise of digital fashion. Moreover, those virtual clothes won't just be for your video calls, but could eventually be worn all over the virtual world, and eventually, perhaps, viewed on your body in the real world through the Augmented Reality (AR) glasses.
"There are more and more second worlds' where you can express yourself. But there is probably an underestimation of the value being attached to individuals who want to express themselves in a virtual world with a virtual product, through a virtual image," a marketing officer Robert said. As the field develops, there are two ways of using digital clothes—wearing them yourself through AR and providing digital clothes for your virtual body.
But why should we replace our physical clothes Supporters say there's unlimited creative expression through digital clothes, which now look increasingly more elegant thanks to developments in 3D and AR technology. "Clothing represents an expression of a personality. It always exists in the physical world, and it will exist in the virtual world," said Simon Whitehouse, a designer.
He explained, "From the brand side, it's incredibly profitable to sell clothes without producing physical clothes. It's reinventing an entire supply chain. There's no water usage, there's very limited CO2 emission. There are no samples being sent out or returned. There are no show rooms, and there's no physical prototype (实物模型)."
27.What can you probably do in the near future according to Paragraph 1
A. Open a virtual fashion clothing store.
B. Design 3D digital clothes for yourself.
C. Buy a bigger wardrobe for your bedroom.
D. Wear virtual clothes made by digital technology.
28.What can we infer from Simon's words in Paragraph 3
A. AR technology will bring a challenge to people.
B. One's character will be seen in the virtual world.
C. Digital clothes will be more convenient for people.
D. One's expression only can be seen in the physical world.
29.What is Simon's attitude to digital clothing
A. Approving. B. Doubtful. C. Unclear. D. Grateful.
30.What is the text mainly about
A. The increase in AR glasses.
B. The digital fashion in the future.
C. The virtual body in digital clothes.
D. AR glasses made by new technology.

Art is everywhere. Any public space has been carefully designed by an artistic mind to be both functional and beautiful. Why, then, is art still so widely considered to be "the easy subject" at school, insignificant to wider society, a waste of time and effort
Art can connect culture with commercial products in a way that not many other things can; art generates money and holds significant emotional and cultural value within communities. When people attend a concert, they are paying for music, sure, maybe even hotel rooms, meals, and transport, but they also gain an incredible experience, a unique atmosphere and a memory that will go through the rest of their lives. People don't just want material things anymore, they want to experience life一the arts are a perfect crossover(交迭) between culture and commerce.
Furthermore, the arts can bring communities together, reducing loneliness and making people feel safer. Social bonds are created among individuals when they share their art experiences through reflection and discussion, and their expression of common values through artworks in honour of events significant to a nation's experience.
The arts clearly have a pretty positive impact on physical and psychological health. It is found that people who frequent cultural places or participate in artistic events are more likely to gain good health compared to those who do not. More engagement with the arts is linked to a higher level of people's wellbeing. The Royal Society of Public Health discovered that music and art, when used in hospitals, help to improve the conditions of patients by reducing stress, anxiety and blood pressure.
Children who are involved with the arts make greater achievements in their education: those engaged with drama have greater literary ability while others taking part in musical practice exhibit greater skills in math and languages. Kids with preference for the arts have a greater chance of finding employment in the future. Participating in the arts is essential for child development; encouraging children to express themselves in constructive ways could help to form healthy emotional responses in later life.
Vital to human lif—art is celebrated and used by nations across the world for various purposes. Life without art would be boring and dead still, for art is a part of what makes us human.
31.Art products differ from most other commercial products because ______.
A. most people purchase them for collection
B. they are more expensive and less accessible
C. they have both commercial and cultural values
D. their prices may climb up as time passes
32.What can we learn about people who are involved in artistic activities
A. They enjoy better living conditions.
B. They like to compare themselves with others.
C. They are particularly good at both music and art.
D. They tend to be healthier physically and mentally.
33.How does kids' engagement with the arts benefit them
A. It promotes their academic performance and emotional growth.
B. It gives them more confidence in exhibiting their learning skills.
C. It inspires their creativity in designing their future career.
D. It helps to make responsible people out of them.
34.What is the best title for this passage
A. How Art Cures Our Hearts B. Art: A Blessing to Humankind
C. How Art Benefits Communities D. Art: A Bridge Between Cultures
D
Given that stress can adversely affect human health and well-being, including causing high blood pressure and increasing the risk of heart disease, it is essential to understand our individual responses to stress and identify potential factors that can act as effective stress buffers(缓冲).
In the paper, which was recently published in the Journal of Psychophysiology, Brian Leavy, Brenda H. O'Connell, and Deirdre O'Shea propose that, although the previous research suggests that gratitude and affect balance play key stress-buffering roles, to date, little has been known about the impact of these variables on cardiovascular (心血管的) recovery from acute (急性的) psychological stress.
That was the focus of the study by the researchers from the Universities of Maynooth and Limerick in Ireland, who also sought to find out whether affect balance could regulate the relationship between gratitude and cardiovascular reactions to acute psychological stress.
The research carried out at the Irish University of Maynooth involved 68 undergraduate students (24 male and 44 female), aged between 18 and 27. This study used a within-subjects experimental design with lab tasks in which stress was put on participants and then cardiovascular reactivity and recovery in response to this was measured.
The results showed that the state of gratitude predicted lower blood pressure responses throughout the stress-testing period, which means that the state of gratitude has a unique stress-buffering effect on both reactions to and recovery from acute psychological stress. It was also found that affect balance increases the effects of gratitude.
These findings have practical value as there are several low-cost gratitude methods which can contribute to well-being, including keeping a gratitude journal and practising acts of kindness. Previous research has shown how patients who make use of gratitude journals have better cardiovascular outcomes than those who do not. Another tool to help individuals express gratitude is a gratitude card, which is one of the suggestions from Mental Health America(MHA).
35.What does the underlined word "adversely" in paragraph 1 mean

A. The effects of gratitude are often age-related.
B. Gratitude contributes to lower blood pressure.
C. Affect balance reduces the effects of gratitude.
D. Acute psychological stress is difficult to relieve.
38.What can we learn from the text
A. The results of the study are not reliable.
B. The methods of gratitude come at a high cost.
C. MHA's advice is confirmed effective by the research.
D. The researchers have proposed new ways to express gratitude.
三、阅读七选五:本大题共5小题,共10分。
In March 2019, Gucci began selling a $4,500 purse in the shape of Mickey Mouse's head. Between the creature's round black ears is a small handle embossed (凸印) with the word "Gucci." On the brand's website, a male model stares seriously into the camera without the slightest trace of irony (讽刺) that he is, in fact, carrying around the head of a children's cartoon character.
It's perhaps the most luxurious Mickey Mouse products designed for adults. (39) Maybelline created makeup sets with packaging covered in Mickey's face. Uniqlo made dozens of graphic T-shirts with Mickey in various poses. So as not to miss out on the action, Apple launched $300 Beats headphones that paid homage to (向……致敬) the Mouse.
According to The Wall Street Journal, Mickey Mouse and his friends sold $3 billion in merchandise (周边商品) in 2018, a figure that includes both adult and children's products.
This brings up the question: Why would adults wear items decorated with the face of a smiling rodent in the first place What accounts for the enduring appeal of this anthropomorphized (拟人化的) mouse, while other Disney characters, such as Anna from Frozen, hardly ever appear in adult products
Mickey Mouse was big business almost as soon as he made his debut (首次亮相) in Walt Disney's animated short Steamboat Willie (《汽船威利号》) in 1928. Within five years, Mickey was earning $1 million a year in merchandise sales. These products were largely targeted at children, including stuffed toys, trains, and nursery wallpaper.
Everything changed in the years after World War II. (40) For one thing, Mickey was nearly twenty years old, which meant that the first audience, who enjoyed the cartoons as children, were now in their thirties. Disney was willing to transform Mickey into a symbol of innocence in the postwar years, when people were desperate for something hopeful to cling to.
All the marketing worked. In 1947, products featuring Disney characters brought in $100 million in revenue (收益) in merchandise. In addition to kids' products, many of the items sold were for adults, such as radios and phonographs.
(41) He made Mickey's face and body rounder, and eyes larger, like those of a baby. Scientists have shown that adults are more drawn to childlike faces. That look is more likely to subconsciously produce a greater level of attachment in the viewer.
(42) For instance, the company has done everything in its power to ensure that they do not use images of Mickey drinking and smoking.
By and large, though, the symbolism Mickey represents is the one Disney has put forth: that of innocence and positivity. (43) In World War II, people used Mickey to help cope with the horrors before them. This might also help explain why Mickey Mouse has been popular over the past few years when many people are experiencing political instability.
A. Over the decades, Disney is always sensitive about how brands portray Mickey when it licenses his face.
B. Why was this effective at getting adults' attention
C. This is perhaps why adults seem drawn to him during times of trouble.
D. At that point, demand for products bearing Mickey's face among adults decreased.
E. But it's just one of many that has flooded the market.
F. Disney kept developing the character to make him more and more universally appealing.
G. Disney's goal was clearly to make the character universally known and loved.

I had a problem. Talent Night was coming up, but I had no talents.
Kate can make anything using origami (折纸). Tommy creates breath-taking beats on overturned plastic buckets. Olivia trains her petty dog to do tricks. And those are just my friends. My grade also boasts four dancers, a gymnast, two bakers, a yoga expert, six singers, and five artists, among others.
Every day my teacher asked if I'd decided what to do. And every day I reminded her that I had no talents.
"Nonsense, Benjamin," she said. "You'll think of something."
"I'll just have to be sick the day of the show," I announced to my friends one afternoon. "If you get a cold, be sure to cough on me."
"You must have a talent," said Kate. "Let's make a list. What are you good at "
"Eating," I answered. "Watching TV."
Kate rolled her eyes. "Benjamin, be serious."
"Tormenting (捉弄) my little brother."
"Are you kidding me "Kate looked at our friends. "Come on, guys. What are Benjamin's talents "
"He's good with dogs," said Olivia. "My dog adores him."
"Oh, great," I said. "I can sit on the stage while he licks my face. Benjamin Belinski, Human Dog Toy."
"Benjamin's funny and humorous," said Tommy. He turned to me. "You could do a comedy routine."
"Yeah. Every joke could be about how I have no talents," I said.
"Benjamin," said Kate, "maybe you don't know how to juggle(变戏法), but your birthday parties are the best."
"Yeah," agreed Olivia, "and you always get us together to do stuff. Like having game nights or riding bikes after school—or when we held that yard sale. The week you had the flu we didn't do anything fun."
"You're like the glue that holds us together," added Tommy.
"Oh, great," I said. "Benjamin Belinski, Human Glue Gun."
But their comments got me thinking. Lying in bed that night, I came up with a plan so exciting that it took me two hours to fall asleep.

Some, we may just call them Group A, believe that placing animals in a zoo does harm to them. These people think that all animals should be protected from being killed and should be left in the wild. They also advise people to be educated to know more about animals in the wild. Other scientists of Group B think differently. They say that modern zoos provide a safe environment for animals. They believe that some animals, such as the panda from China and the white tiger from India, are not only protected from uncontrolled killing but can give birth to babies under protection and in that way they may be saved from dying out. I even got the principal's permission to cover the school's tables with blue and yellow paper. The gym has been completely transformed. It looks magical, my teacher exclaimed in amazement. On the night of the big event, I felt so nervous that I had to force myself to eat dinner. Our guests smacked their lips over student-baked cookies as they browsed the display of paperwork by Kate and other artwork.

However, one person deserves special recognition for making it proceed so smoothly. He stayed behind the scenes, but please give a big hand to an enormous talent—Benjamin, Producer!
