Here are some popular favourite films and movies. You can go to theatre to watch them with your family or friends.
Bottoms
The high school comedy is very strange and funny. It’s a smart new comedy. Ayo Edebiri and Rachel Sennott play unpopular best friends who start a fight club in hopes of attracting the cheerleaders of their dreams. Bottoms was co-written by Sennott and Emma Seligman, who also directs. They previously collaborated on the movie Shiva Baby.
Blue Beetle
It is a true-blue surprise. In the great new superhero film Blue Beetle, Xolo Mariduena plays Jaime Reyes, a young Mexican-American man who comes across a frightening bug-like alien artifact (神器) that connects to him and gives him superpowers. It may seem like just another story about a hero, but-centering the film on a Latin family changes the familiar mode in ways big and small.
Strays
It leads the pack for rated dog comedies. In the new comedy Strays, four talking dogs have an incredible/unbelievable journey. Reggie (voiced by Will Ferrell) doesn’t realize his owner Doug (played by Will Forte) is going to abandon him on the streets. But when Doug’s intentions become clear, Reggie’s motivation shifts from a reunion to revenge (复仇). Strays’ voice cast also features Jamie Foxx, Isla Fisher and Randall Park.
Golda
The movie describes a key moment in Israeli history. It is a story of Golda Meir, Israel’s first and only female prime minister. But it only covers a period of fewer than three weeks. The film follows Meir—played by a nearly unrecognizable Helen Mirren—as she spends the tense 19 days of the 1973. The conflict in 1973 resulted in heavy Israeli losses, and finally, Meir gave up her position of prime minister.
21.In what way is Emma Seligman different from Sennott
A.He’s the director of Bottoms. B.He is the writer of Bottoms.
C.He plays a role in Bottoms. D.He once started a fight club.
22.Why does Reggie decide to get his revenge
A.The journey is very difficult. B.Other dogs want to abandon him.
C.Doug has too many intentions. D.Its owner is unfriendly to it.
23.Which of the following suits people interested in history best
A.Bottoms. B.Blue Beetle. C.Strays. D.Golda.

I’m an ecologist studying the cultural value and sustainability of wildlife use by traders and traditional healers in South Africa. I am also a traditional healer myself and work with conservationists to protect wildlife.
In southern Africa, traditional healers use plant and animal materials, known as umuthi (means medicine), that might come from endangered species such as lions and pangolins(穿山甲). This can create tension between umuthi traders and conservation professionals, I think a lot about the balance to be struck between cultural identity, healing traditions and the urgent need for wildlife preservation. I meet with traditional healers and umuthi traders in markets in Johannesburg. Behind me, dried umuthi lines the walls in glass jars and my hands are arranged to form one of the greetings of a traditional healer.
Being a healer as well as a PhD candidate at the University of Cape Town brings me unique insights/opinions. Often, conservation objectives clash with deeply rooted cultural practices. I try to bridge those two fields and build trust between healers, tribal authorities, traders and conservationists —a challenging endeavour in the light of historical research practices.
Practices that bring these groups together, such as ones that promote home-grow n medicinal plants, have had promising outcomes. I talk to communities about our conservation laws and how they could be changed to allow sustainable harvesting of natural products. I want to make communities become administrators of their environment. After all, if plants and animals go extinct, then that threatens the lives of traders and healers alike.
My double role as a healer and researcher creates its own complexities (复杂性). Yet, I remain optimistic that harmonious coexistence is achievable. My purpose is to enlarge the voices of traditional healers, respect their wisdom, and preserve the balance between culture and conservation for generations to come.
24.What can we know about umuthi
A.It must be very expensive. B.It can cure many kinds of diseases.
C.It’s made from several materials. D.It’s been accepted by conservation professionals.
25.What does the underlined word “clash” in Paragraph 3 mean
A.Conflict. B.Combine. C.Competition. D.Challenge.
26.How does the author help different parties solve problems
A.By combining different groups together. B.By suggesting growing medical plants.
C.By advising government to make laws. D.By making healers help traders.
27.What does the author think of his work as a double role
A.Easy. B.Convenient. C.Encouraging. D.Worthwhile.

In the past few years, Sam Altman, the father of ChatGPT, has become the hottest face in the world of AI. Many industry leaders, AI researchers see ChatGPT as a basic technological change, as meaningful as the creation of the web browser or the iPhone.
Some believe it will deliver a utopia (乌托邦) where everyone has all the time and money ever needed. Others believe it could destroy humanity. Still others spend much of their time arguing that the technology is never as powerful as everyone says it is.
Mr Altman, a slim, 37-year-old investor from the suburbs of St. Louis, sits calmly in the middle of it all. As chief executive (总经理) of OpenAI, he hopes to balance the many possibilities as he moves this strange and powerful technology into the future.
He believes that artificial intelligence will happen one way or another, that it will do wonderful things that even he can’t yet imagine and that we can find ways of making up the harm it may cause. It’s an attitude that mirrors Mr Altman’s own track. His life has been a fairly steady climb towards greater success and wealth, driven by an effective set of personal skills. It makes sense that he believes that the good thing will happen rather than the bad.
He is not necessarily motivated by money. Mr Altman’s wealth is not well recorded. But he said he holds no stock (股票) in OpenAI. The only money he stands to make from the company is a yearly salary.
Georgeann Kepchar, who taught Advanced Placement computer science course, saw Mr Altman as one of her most talented computer science students—and one with a rare knack for pushing people in new directions. “He had creativity and vision, combined with the ambition and force of personality to make others be willing to work with him on putting his ideas into action,” she said.

One summer, in July of that year, my mom drove me to my grandparents’ house for our annual summer holiday visit. When we arrived, I was told that Grandma had gone on a trip with her friends and wouldn’t be back for another two weeks. Feeling a bit down, I went to the yard to play while my mom and grandpa caught up on some things. Although I couldn’t hear their conversation clearly, I had a strong feeling they were talking about me based on their gestures and expressions. Later, my mom returned home, and she would come back to pick me up two months later.
After dinner that night, Grandpa asked me to take a bath before going to bed. Since I loved taking baths, I happily agreed. With the bathtub (浴缸) filled with water, Grandpa reminded me, “Just make sure you clean the area behind your ears really well. You wouldn’t want potatoes to start growing there, would you ”
“Potatoes ” I stopped in my tracks and turned back to look at him. “Yes, potatoes. If you don’t clean the dirt behind your ears, potatoes might actually sprout (发芽) and grow there,” he explained, causing my eyes to widen in surprise.“But I don’t have any potatoes behind my ears, Grandpa,” I said as I ran my fingers along the back of my ears. He took a quick glance and replied, “Oh, I see a couple of sprouts: starting right there!” He urged me to get into the bathtub immediately and scrub (擦洗) them away thoroughly.
I nodded, still in disbelief. This was the first time I had ever heard such a thing. Why hadn’t my parents warned me about this before I wondered, but couldn’t find an answer. Nonetheless, I felt shocked by Grandpa’s warning.

56.bases 考查名词复数。此空前的several说明此空应该用复数形式。
57.that/which 考查定语从句。

In order to show our love and concern to the children who are living in the welfare center, we will organize a social activity next Saturday afternoon. If you are willing to help these children, you can call us and provide us with your personal information, or you can contact us by email at Aixinfengxian@sinA.com. The volunteers will go to help these children with their studies, especially their English as well as communicate with them. Therefore, if you are good at English or communication, you will be well equipped to help these children. In addition, each volunteer should take at least one gift for the friend you’ll make there.

第二节
I hurried to jump into the bathtub, carefully scrubbing behind my ears. I spent a considerable amount of time ensuring every bit of dirt was gone. When I finally finished bathing, I grabbed a handheld mirror and carefully checked each ear for any signs of potato sprouts. Grandpa noticed my actions and checked my ears with a smile, saying, “Ah, the potato sprouts are all gone.” I felt relieved. From that day forward, I developed a habit of cleaning the area behind my ears and even using mirrors to check. Eventually, Grandma returned home. That evening, as I examined my ears once again, she noticed.
“What are you looking at behind your ears ” Grandma asked me curiously. “I’m checking for ‘potato sprouts’,” I replied. She stared at me, puzzled. After I explained, she chuckled and said, “Oh, your grandpa was just teasing you.” “What ” I exclaimed. It was then that I realized I had been completely fooled and then burst into laughter with Grandma. Despite the childish trick, I continued to clean the area behind my ears regularly because it had already become a habit. Grandpa continued with his other “ear stories” for years to come. I was deeply touched by his sense of humor and wisdom.
