The use of social media has been linked to mental health problems in teenagers．But a new study from England argues that the issue may be more complex than experts think．
The new research interviewed 10，000 teenagers，who reported the frequency they used social media．The frequency of more than three times a day was considered “very frequent”．But the researchers，for the first time，went a step further to investigate what kind of websites made the teenagers frequenters．They found that，in both sexes，very frequent visits to social media with negative(负面的)content were associated with greater mental depression and anxiety．
“Our results suggest social media itself doesn't cause harm，but that frequent use may disrupt(使中断) activities that positively influence mental health such as sleeping and exercising，while increasing exposure of young people to harmful content，”said Russell Viner，the co-author of the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health．
It's an important discovery．Just last month，research from Canada showed that higher level of the use of social media was linked with increased mental depression in adolescents．

A Volunteer Experience
Last Friday，our class participated in an activity called Volunteer to Serve the Community．
At 8 o'clock in the morning，we walked to Red Star Community．On arrival，our headteacher assigned different tasks and under his patient instructions，we cleaned the windows，swept the ground and even shared stories with some elderly people．The activity lasted about 3 hours，and at about 12 o'clock，we went back to our school．
The meaningful activity offered us a good chance to help others．Tired as we were，we did feel the pleasure and value of service．
