One of sweetest memories as a child is of going down to the river and sitting comfortably on the bank. There I would enjoy the peace and quiet, watch the water rush downstream and listen to songs of birds.I would also watch the bamboo trees bend under the pressure from the wind and watch them return gracefully to their original state after the wind had died down.
When I think about the bamboo tree’s ability to bend and move back, the word “resilience” comes to my mind. When it is used for a person, this word means the ability to readily recover(恢复) from shock, sadness or any other suffering.Have you ever felt like you were going to snap Have you ever felt like you were at your breaking point Thankfully, you have survived to talk about it.
Life is a mixture(混合) of good times and bad times, happy moments and unhappy moments. The next time you are experiencing one of those bad times or unhappy moments that take you close to your breaking point, bend, but don’t break.Try your best not to let the situation get the best of you.
An amount of hope will take you through the unpleasant suffering. With hope for a better tomorrow or a better situation, things may not be as bad as they seem. The unpleasant suffering may be easier to deal with if the end result is worth having.
If things get tough and you are at your breaking point, show resilience.Like the bamboo trees, bend, but don’t break!

It’s Friday evening. My daughters, 3 and 9, sigh(叹息) when I gently take the iPads away from their laps. One by one, our screens are turned off.We light the candles and sit down to have a big meal.
Most people in our lives know they will not be able to contact us by using computcre or moblie phones for 24 hours. And so it has gone, every week for three years. We call it our “Technology Shabbat(科技安息日)" which lasts from sunset on Friday to sunset on Saturday.
I first understood the importance of disconnecting in 2008, when my father was told that he
had got brain cancer. Some days he would have ony one good hour, and I wasn’t willing to be disturbed when I was with him, so I’d turn off my mobile phone.
Soon after, encouraged by National Day of Unplugging(全国断网断电日) on March 1st, my husband and I decided to unplug for one full day every week.
During our “Technology Shabbats”, time slows. Our Saturdays now feel like mini-vacations.We drive our car or ride our bike. We, with our kids, work in the garden, play board games and cook meals.I feel more balanced.I feel like a better mother, wife and person.
Keeping a balance between the good and the bad of technology is my lasting state. The technology we’ve created makes it possible for us to share knowledge and take in carious ideas all over the world. But the technology also take something away from us.When we stay up late at night linking(连接) from website to website or sending messages or e-mailing, we click again, and again, and again until we’ve overloaded(超负荷的).
When we rush into the time full of high technology, it's necessary for us to pay attention to what we are doing online and when we should go off.
I will always remember the most important thing in my family: “Technology Shabbat".

D.They stay up late at night linking from website to website.

Don’ t Rest on Your Laurels
Have you ever heard the saying “Don’t rest on your laurels”?“ Laurels” means the achievements you have already got.The saying suggests that you shouldn’t be so satisfied with your achievements that you’ll no longer try to improve.
As to this saying, Mike Perham has set us a good example.Born in 1992 in Hertfordshire, England, Mike was just 14 when he became the youngest person to sail across the Atlantic Ocean. You might think the achievements are good enough, but Mike doesn’t think so.At the age of 17,he became the youngest person to sail all by himself around the world on a nine-month voyage(航海).
Mike is now 19, and he is still trying his best to break the records and push himself further. For his next adventure, he plans to fly around the world on his own, making him the first person of all ages to both sail and fly around the world.
Mike wants his achievements to encourage young people to realize their dreams.Since his adventures, he has travelled widely, speaking at schools and youth clubs in the UK, Hong Kong and Australia on the theme of “Live the Dream”.
Amazing Facts:
Mike started sailing when he was seven.
His trans-Atlantic crossing began at Gibraltar and ended in Antigua.
His round-the-world yacht(游艇) was called TotallyMoney.com.

There will be a lot of rules for good manners in the library.I hope you will find them useful.Above all, when you are reading in the library, you should keep quiet. It’s not right to ear or drink. You should keep the library clean. While reading, don’t write in the books. You should put the books back after you finish reading them. Moreover, you should queue when you borrow books.Remember to return the books on time. Before you leave, you should make sure that you haven’t dropped litter in the library.
I think these rules are very important because we should make sure that everyone in the library is comfortable while reading.
