一、新课导入

1） In the dream, he grew a new type of rice that was as big as a peanut.
2） Since then, he has spent much of his time researching and developing new varieties.
二、探索新知
1. The plant allowed farmers to rest in its shade.
这种植物可以让农民在它的阴凉里休息。
“允许做某事”
1.allow sb. to do 2.allow doing sth.
My mother doesn’t allow me to go there.
我妈妈不许我去那里。
They don't allow smoking here.
他们不允许在这里抽烟。
2. In the 1960s, a few years after he finished his studies in agriculture at university, he came up with an idea for hybrid
rice. 20世纪60年代，在他完成大学农业学科学习之后的几年，他产生了发明一种杂交水稻的想法。
(1) in the1960s意思是“在20世纪60年代”。表示“在多少世纪多少年代”，在年份后面加-s或’s, 如 in the1980s或in the1980s(20世纪80年代)。
注意：不要丢掉the。
(2) come up with 想出；提出（主意、答案等）
一般不用于被动语态，相当于think of。
He couldn’t come up with an answer.
他想不出答案来。
