One boy of the group asked Sam to join him and his group of friends for lunch . Sam had a group of friends and they all wanted to help him learn French .
Things were even worse than he imagined. It’s difficult for him to be accepted and be a part of a group.
He did a little research on the Internet and discovered that smiling is a universal language on the Internet. He smiled at a group of students as they passed by, and a boy smiled back.

Language points
1. If you are not part of a group, it can be difficult for you to be accepted.
句中的it是形式主语,difficult 是表语;for you to be accepted 是不定式复合结构作真正主语,其中的to be accepted 是不定式的被动形式,表示“被接受”。

2. Before he arrived, he knew there would be many difficulties.
在他到来之前,他就知道会有很多困难。
句中的before he arrived是时间状语从句,后面的主句中,he knew又是主句,there would be many difficulties 是宾语从句,且主句是一般过去时,宾语从句中的动词would be是过去将来时。过去将来时表示从过去某一时刻来看将来要发生的 动作或所处的状态,它多用于主句谓语动词为过去时的宾语从句中。
