One of the biggest complaints I hear from people is that their friends just aren't there for them. More than that, sometimes friends are downright rude or even mean. You can't change people, but you can surround yourself with more positive people. Here are some benefits that spending time with positive friends can provide.
With positive friends, you don't need to beg for help when you need it, because chances are that they will be there for you without your begging. Positive individuals want others to be happy, and will go out of their way to help you when you're feeling down. As states, “Ideal friendships provide support when you're down, fun when you're up, wisdom when you're lost.”
Compare that to toxic friends, who might snipe at you or even laugh at you behind your back. Those people celebrate the downfall of others, and as a result you'll end up feeling worse about yourself or the situation you're dealing with. Friends of this kind will add to whatever amount of stress you are feeling.
Your positive friends will not only help you recover from negative hits you take in life, but they will also inspire you to be the best you can be. For example, perhaps you always want to be a writer. The negative people in your life will probably tell you all the reasons why you won't succeed. Maybe you have already gone over the reasons why you might fail and this is what has prevented you from trying. But with positive people in your life, you'll feel more comfortable sharing these types of goals because your friends will give you the emotional push you need to go after what you want in life.
You naturally attract the kind of friends who are most like you. So if you're a downer, you'll probably find that negative people come to you. The__same__is__true__for__being__positive. The more you are able to maintain a positive attitude, the more like minded people you'll attract in return.
1.Why does the writer mention the statement of in Paragraph 2
A.To prove the importance of friendships.
B.To show all may face difficulties.
C.To compare different friendships.
D.To explain what a friend indeed is.
2.What are toxic friends like
A.They can be made use of.
B.They laugh and cry with you.
C.They make you more stressed.
D.They celebrate your successes.
3.What does the underlined sentence in the last paragraph mean
A.It is true that everyone can be positive in life.
B.If you are positive, you'll attract positive friends.
C.The negative people don't like the positive ones.
D.The positive people would like to stay with everyone.
B
One of the greatest sources of unhappiness, in my experience, is the difficulty we have in accepting things as they are.
When we see something we don't like, we wish it could be different. We cry out for something better. That may be human nature, or perhaps it's something ingrained (根深蒂固的) in our culture. The root of the unhappiness isn't necessarily that we want things to be different. However, it's that we decided we didn't like it in the first place. We've judged it as bad, rather than saying, “It's not bad or good, and it just is it.”
In one of my books, I said “You should expect people to mess up and expect things to go differently than you planned.” Some readers said it's too sorrowful to expect things to go wrong. However, it's only negative if you see it as negative and judge it as bad. Instead, you could accept it as the way the world works and try to understand why that is.
This can be applied to whatever you do: how other people act at work, how politics works and how depressing the news media can be. Accept these things as they are, and try to understand why they're that way. It will save you a lot of sadness, because you'll no longer say, “Oh, I wish bad things didn't happen!”
Does it mean you can never change things Not at all. But changing things is not because you can't accept things as they are, but because you enjoy the process of changing, learning and growing.
Can we make this world a better place You can say that you'll continue to try to do things to help others, to grow as a person, to make a difference in this world. That's the correct path you choose to take, because you enjoy that path. Therefore, when you find yourself judging and wishing for difference, try a different approach:accept, and understand. It might lead to some interesting results.
4.The author believes that we feel unhappy maybe because ________.
A.it is our natural emotion in the life
B.culture asks us to be different from others
C.everyone has their own opinions on things
D.we dislike something in the beginning
5.What does the underlined word “It” in Paragraph 4 refer to
A.Acting well at work and in politics.
B.Feeling depressed for the news media.
C.Accepting and understanding what has happened.
D.Saying something negative when bad things come.
6.What are you advised according to the last paragraph
A.Help others and make a difference.
B.Enjoy what you have to do in the work.
C.Judge yourself and make a wish.
D.Try a new way when making the world better.
7.What is the main theme of the passage
A.Accepting can make our life happier and better.
B.Expecting things to be different gives us hope.
C.Traditional culture becomes the root of unhappiness.
D.Judging good or bad is important for our world.

Letting me move into my university dormitory wasn't an easy decision for my parents. However, they knew if I wanted a good education, I'd have to live away from home. I'd always dream of living alone: the life of no rules and regulations and being independent. So I was delighted about this new stage in my life.
Unexpectedly, during the first few months of living alone, I would find myself crying every day. I would call my mum every day. Coming from a big family, I was used to noises surrounding me. Therefore, the scary silence at night was the worst. I couldn't even sleep without keeping the lights on.
As time went by, I started enjoying the freedom that came with living alone. I could do things in my own time: eat whenever I want, wake up whenever I want. The space of loneliness was also then filled up by friends who became like family, so I started missing my family less.
When it was time to say goodbye and go back home after my graduation, I was bittersweet. I'd enjoyed my time alone, learning things which wouldn't have been possible if I had never moved away from home. But I'd also missed my family too much.
I'd learned a lot from this experience. Living alone made me value family time even more. I realized every second with them was important though I might not get the freedom while living alone.
I guess it's different for everybody, but for me, there is no warmth in a house unless it's filled with loving members and people you love.

Life affects friendships. As we grow, marry, move across the country or change jobs, old friendships fall away and new ones form. As long as we live, the things around us change, and as long as things change, friendships are affected.
When we were children, we had best friends. No matter what happened we were still friends. We live our lives, however, and do what life calls for us to do, and as we get older, memories fade, faces blur (变得模糊), and even friends' names from childhood are forgotten.
Do you have a question about friendship Do you wonder what to do with a friend who is no longer friendly Perhaps you will see that you can't control others. If someone wants to be your friend, it is their choice. All you can do is treat them well and do the best for them when you are with them. Then you wish them well when they leave.
You can talk to old timers and they will tell you that life is full of incredible (难以置信的) joy and incredible sorrow, and that what bothers you today will one day become a memory and the pain will be gone. Seniors may tell you that you will learn more as you get older. They will tell you that friendships come and friendships go. Sometimes when they go, you will hurt, but you will be okay with it. It's the way life works, after all.

It was my first day of sixth grade. I looked at my schedule and saw that I had Mrs. Foxwell and this made me happy. Over the next three years, Mrs. Foxwell taught me many important things that I would never forget.
Of all the teachers and coaches I have had in my life, Mrs. Foxwell has been my favorite leader. In her class, she taught me how to be a successful leader. She also taught me that good leaders could earn everyone's respect.
Mrs. Foxwell is one of the most respected and respectful people I know. She is always kind to everyone and she treats others the way that she wants to be treated. She taught me respect in many different ways, but mainly how to be respectful in the business world. She told me that I needed to have a firm handshake and that I should always look people in the eye when I talked to them. Mrs. Foxwell also taught me that you could earn someone's respect by working hard to achieve your goals.
In addition to working at Brandywine Springs, Mrs. Foxwell once worked at a bank as a manager but she gave that up to teach kids how to be successful. Mrs. Foxwell told our class how she would cry because of the amount of work she had to do in very little time. She taught our class that working all night at something you didn't love was very stressful, so you should try and do something you loved. I don't think I have ever worked as hard in any class as I have in her class. I created my own 28 page business plan to share with her, my parents, other teachers and my classmates. Although creating a business from nothing was a lot of hard work, I really enjoyed it and learned several lessons that would help me throughout life.

Snow leopards (豹) are so hard to photograph that scientists aren't even sure how many of these endangered animals still live in the wild.
The Snow Leopard Conservancy (SLC) set up 20 cameras in Russia in 2010 to learn more about the big cats. After a full six months, they had exactly zero picture! That was when the organization understood they needed help. And the only people who could help them in finding the leopards were the very people from whom they wanted to protect the animals—local hunters (猎人).
Hunting snow leopards is against the law in Russia, but in the terrible climate of Siberia, a few people living there had to turn to poaching (盗猎) to feed their families.
In 2013, naturalist Sergei Spitsyn of SLC approached Mergen Markov, a local hunter, and told him his project. Markov agreed to set up the camera where he knew he would find leopards, and it worked.
Markov, once a poacher, works full time for the conservationists now and has 10 cameras monitoring leopards. “I visit each camera once a month. I have known this whole region since I was a child,” he said proudly. The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) began working with other local villagers in 2015. The village would be paid 40,000 rubles at the end of the year if the image of a snow leopard was caught. WWF also rented horses from the villagers so that they did not need to make money by poaching anymore. “Today there are far fewer leopard poachers but leopards still get caught in traps set for other animals, so I have to stay watchful,” said Markov.
Changing guns for cameras has made a big difference in the lives of these former poachers, the village, and the Russian snow leopards. The number of snow leopards has been rising and their population is expected to recover to normal levels within 10 years.
5.Why was no picture of snow leopards taken in six months
A.SLC's 20 cameras failed to work properly.
B.The number of snow leopards in the wild was too small.
C.The local poachers destroyed these cameras on purpose.

6.What did Sergei Spitsyn persuade Markov to do
A.Find the poachers.
B.Repair cameras in the forest.
C.Catch more leopards.
D.Work for SLC.
7.Why did the WWF begin working with local villagers
A.To get some pictures of snow leopards.
B.To help villagers make a living.
C.To prevent villagers from hunting animals.
D.To rent their horses at a low price.
8.How can we describe the WWF's cooperation with the villagers
A.Practice makes perfect.

One of the most important things in the world is friendship. In order to have friends, you have to be a friend. But how can you be a good friend at school
Listen—Listen when they are talking. Don't say anything unless they ask you a question. Sometimes it's not necessary for you to have anything to say; they just need someone to talk to about their feelings.
Help them—If your friend is ever in need of something, be there to help them. You should try to put them first, but make sure you don't do everything they want you to do. Try to take an extra pencil or pen with you to classes in case they forget one. Have a little extra money in your pocket in case they forget something they need.
Be there for them—Try to make something for your friends to help make them feel better in hard times. Making cards and encouraging them are among the nicest things you can do for friends. Marilyn Monroe, a famous U.S. actor, once said, “I often make mistakes. Sometimes I am out of control. But if you can't stay with me at my worst, you are sure not to deserve to be with me at my best.” Always remember this! If you don't want to stay with your friends when they're in hard times, then you don't deserve to be with them when they're having a good time!
________ Try to organize some activities with your friends ahead of time. Go shopping, go for ice cream, have a party, go to the movies and so on. Take time to know each other even better by doing something you both enjoy. By planning things together, you both can have a good time. And you'll remember these things when you're all old!
9.While your friend is talking to you about his or her feelings, you should ________.
A.give him or her some advice
B.just listen unless asked
