【学习主题】
文章体裁为说明文。属于“人与环自然”主题的环境保护话题。本文介绍了世界著名动物行为学家珍·古道尔教授建立环保组织---“根与芽”的初衷及其目的和意义。其主题意义在于让学生通过了解该环保组织,认知到生活当中每个人都能做一点事情,对环境产生影响,并号召学生行动起来,参与到环境保护的活动中去。
【课标要求】
能从一般性文章中获取主要信息,能理解以环境保护为主题的文章的语篇要义,提高环保意识,在日常生活中做到低碳、节俭,将世界建设得愈加美好。能识别语篇的类型和结构,辨识和分析语篇的文体特征及衔接手段。
【学习目标】
1.通过字面阅读,提取文本中“根与芽”组织的基本信息,如创立时间、创建者、创建目的及名称的意义;感知并概括动词非谓语形式---“v-ing”和“v-ed”在本文语境中的用法;(Curriculum Standard)
2.通过解释性阅读,分析、归纳该组织的社会贡献及创建初衷;
梳理说明文的文本结构,识别并赏析说明文的写作特点、语言特点;(Subject Guide)
3.通过批判性阅读,以自主学习和结对活动的方式,结合珍·古道尔的话,对文中提到的“根与芽”组织所传递的社会价值进行论证与评价,并就今后自己该如何行动形成汇报,汇报须尽量包含文章中关于环境保护的话题词汇、词块及非谓语的语境用法。完成对所学知识的迁移创新。(Curriculum Standard)

1) Create a flow chart to show what “Just-me-ism”is.
2)Consider the following question:

Step 3 Progressive Reading
1.Literal Reading
1)Create a mind map to figure out the basic information about “Roots & Shoots”, such as foundation time, founder, its significance and hidden messages.
2)Explore the contextual usages of v-ing and v-ed, identifying their individual functions in the sentences.
2.Interpretive Reading
Draw an outline of the passage, showing the typical features of an expository article, including specific article structure and word usages.
3.Critical Reading
Finish and give a report on “Roots & Shoots”, highlighting its great importance and what you are supposed to do in future.
Step4 Practice
Write an essay entitled “Say No To 'Just-me-ism'”, using v-ing and v-ed if possible.
Step5 Assignment
Polish the essay.
