◎易错辨析:separate与divide
separate意为“分离;隔离”,把原来连在一起或靠近的各个部分隔开来的意思,被分隔的对象没有任何统一性,其后常接介词 from。例如:
The two countries are separated by a river. 这两个国家相隔一条河。
We'd better separate the good ones from the bad ones. 我们最好把好的和坏的分开。
divide指把整体划分为若干部分,被分开的对象在一定的条件下具有一定的统一性,其后常接介词 into。例如:
A year is divided into four seasons. 一年分为四季。
