T: They need help. Who will help them International charities. Step 2 Presentation 1. Learn about some charities. ORBIS It works to help people who are blind or have problems with eyes. WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature) It can protect the wildlife, nature and environment. UNICEF It works to provide children with food, house, medicine and education. WWF Problem (1): Some restaurants sell dishes made in rare animals which are protected by laws (法律). Problem (2): Children in poor areas in Africa don’t have enough food to eat or enough houses to be their shelter. They are ill, but they can’t go to hospital. They are old enough, but they can’t go to school. Problem (3): Mrs Black has been blind since she was sixty years old. Now, she still can’t see anything because she is very poor and has no enough money to go to hospital. Problem (4): Mr Johnson is out of work now. The factory he has worked in for nearly twenty years bankrupted (破产) last month. He and his workmates lost their jobs and they have less and less money to support their families. Oxfam:Oxfam was founded in Oxford in 1942. It works to help poor people around the world. UNICEF:UNICEF was founded in 1946. It provides food and health care to children in developing countries. WWF:WWF has over five million supporters worldwide and it works in more than 80 countries. The group focuses on protecting forests, rivers, oceans and so on. 5. Make a dialogue using the conversation as a model. You can add your own ideas. You have some pocket money left. 你有一些剩下的零花钱。 left此处为leave的过去分词,意为“剩余”,作定语时常位于所修饰词之后。 At the end of the party, We had some food left. 聚会结束时,我们还剩下一些食物。 【拓展】leave还可作动词,意为“离开”。 leave for… 前往 leave...for... 离开……去…… 2. I’m too weak to walk any further. 我太虚弱了,走不动了。 (1)“too…to…”结构表示“太……而不能……”,too后接形容词或副词原形,to后接动词原形。 She is too young to go to school. 她太小了而不能上学。 【注意】①当句子的主语与不定式的主语不一致时,常需在不定式前加一个介词短语for sb,即:too…for sb to do sth The problem is too difficult for me to work out. 对我来说这个问题太难解决了。 ② “too…to…”结构可以转化为 “so…that…” 结构。 He is too short to reach the apple. →He is so short that he can’t reach the apple. 他太矮了, 没法够到苹果。 (2) further是far的比较级, 这里是副词, 意思是“较远, 更远”。 Can you stand a bit further away 你能不能站得稍微远一点儿? 3.
