设计说明 首先通过一组图片复习旧知识，导入新课并呈现本课时的生词，进而完成A1、A2部分的听力练习，同时也了解月光镇的过去和现在。根据A1和A2 部分来完成A3 部分的内容。Speak up 以听力训练形式呈现，进而简单谈论自己和朋友的过去和现在，再对知识点进行详细的讲解。Study skills通过一组学生熟悉的图片让学生了解“事实”和“观点”的区别，继而让学生到本单元去找表达“事实”和“观点”的句子，然后完成书上的练习。 教学目标 通过本课节的教学，让学生达成以下目标： 1.知识目标 掌握词汇：environment, condition, return, last, abroad, primary, communicate, communication, exactly, keep in touch with, be/get used to 2.能力目标 (1)通过听录音，获取有关星光镇变化的信息并完成日记； (2)简单谈论自己和朋友的过去和现在。 3.情感目标 培养学生对美好生活的热爱。 重点难点 1.重点：通过听录音获取有关星光镇变化的具体信息，并根据获取的信息做笔记并完成日记。 2.难点：谈论自己和朋友的过去和现在。 教学准备 PPT 课件；相关图片。 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1　Lead-in Show the class some pictures and talk about the changes between in the past and now. The neighborhood used to be dirty, but now it has been clean. People used to travel by bike, but now they has traveled by car/plane. The train used to run slowly, but now the high-speed train can run very fast. Step 2　Presentation Show some pictures and teach some new words. The environment is becoming better these days. n. 环境 Modern transport makes our life much easier. n. 交通工具 The government is trying to improve people’s living condition. n. 环境；条件 Step 3　Discussion Talk about the changes to Sunshine Town. What was Sunshine Town like in the past and what’s Sunshine Town like today Think about the environment, the transport and the living conditions. In the past, it was polluted because the factory used to put its waste into the river. Now it’s clean because the government took action to improve the situation. Now, the river is much cleaner. In the past, people lived in houses. Now, people have moved to flats. In the past, people went...by... Now, people go to…by… Step 4　Listening 1. Work on Part A1. Talk about the past of Starlight Town about the environment, the transport and the living conditions. (1) Say: In the past, Starlight Town was small, but it was beautiful. Do you want to learn more about its past Let’s listen and complete Part A1. (2) Check the answers with students. Answers: (1) hills　(2) air　(3) birds　(4) bicycle　(5) houses 2. Work on Part A2. Listen to the rest of their conversation and complete the information about today’s Starlight Town. Then check the answers with students. Complete her diary entry on Page 16 with the words in the box. 2. Check the answers with students. Ask: Do you want to study abroad adv. 在国外 It’s a primary school. adj. 小学教育的；初级的 We can communicate with people in most parts of the world by telephone. vi. & vt. 交流 It’s not good to have no communication with others. n. 交流 Step 4　Speak up 1. Listen and answer the questions. Millie is telling Sandy about an old friend. Play the tape for students to answer the questions. Then play it again and check the answers. (1) When did Millie meet Becky (2) When did she leave China (3) Was Becky alone in the USA (4) How does Millie communicate with Becky Answers: (1) Last week.　(2) About five years ago. 　(3) No, she went abroad with her parents. 　(4) By email. 2. Read after the recording and practice the dialogue in pairs. 3. Make up a dialogue according to the dialogue in Speak up. Choose some pairs to present their dialogues. Then show the sample conversation for students to read. Sample conversation T: I met old friend Jack yesterday. He’s just returned from Guangzhou. S: Oh, really When did you last see him T: About four years ago. He moved to Guangzhou with his family. We haven’t seen each other since then. S: So how do you keep in touch with each other T: We often chat on the Internet and sometimes we write emails to each other. The Internet makes communication much easier. S: Exactly.
Step 5　Language points 1. She’s just returned from the USA. 她刚从美国回来。 return vi. 返回 return from 从……回来，return to回到…… return home (adv.) 回家 return to school (n.) 回到学校 2.When did you last see each other 你们上次见面是什么时候？ last adv.最近，上一次；最后 可位于实义动词前，也可位于实义动词后。 I last saw him in Shanghai two years ago. = I saw him last in Shanghai two years ago. 我上一次在上海见到他是两年前。 3. So how do you keep in touch with each other 那你们是如何保持联系的呢？ keep in touch with sb和某人保持联系，也可说stay in touch with sb Please keep/stay in touch with me while you are in Beijing. 当你在北京的时候，请和我保持联系。 4. We mainly communicate by email. 我们主要通过电子邮件交流。 communicate vi. & vt.交流，交际 communicate with sb和某人交流 She has never communicated with us. 她从未和我们联系过。 Step 6　Presentation 1. Show some pictures and sentences. (1) It is sunny. → That’s a fact. It is a nice day. → That’s your opinion. I feel very hot. → This is my opinion. (2) This is our school. (Fact) Our school is big and clean. (Opinion) 2. Ask students to find more sentences about facts and opinions in PartA1~A3 in Integrated skills. What has changed in Starlight Town Facts: There is a new railway station. There are some new roads. People can now travel to and from the town by bus, taxi, or train. Local people have moved into new flats. What do you think of Starlight Town Opinions: I think Starlight Town is a modern town. It is more beautiful than before. Step 7　Discussion and conclusion 1. Show the examples at Page 17 and ask students to tell which sentences are facts and which sentences are opinions. Beijing is the capital of China. Fact Beijing is the best city in the world. Opinion Many changes have taken place in my hometown. Fact The new shopping mall is a good place to have fun. Opinion 2. Ask students to discuss in groups. What are facts Facts are true statements. They include names, dates, events and numbers. e.g. We are having an English lesson now. What are opinion Opinions tell what we believe, feel or think. They often have adjectives like good, bad and…They may not be true. e.g. I think it is important to learn English well. 3. Work out the rule. (1) Show the last paragraph in Reading and ask circle the parts that describe the facts and opinions. Then give students some time to remember the rules. (2)Show the rules: When we write, we can use facts to support our opinions. We can also give facts first, and then state our opinions. Sometimes, facts and opinions may be mixed together when we write. Step 8　Practice 1. Please find some sentences that tell the truth, and some sentences that show the opinions in this unit. Facts: It was in the bowl an hour ago. We only had some small restaurants and shops years ago. I met my old friend Becky last week. Opinions: You used to be so kind to me. It’s really nice to have a beautiful modern town. Now I feel a bit lonely from time to time. 2. Work on Part A on Page 17. Read the sentences below. Write an F for a fact or an O for an opinion.
