He can change his shape and size, but he cannot turn himself into a person unless he can hide his tail. He is clever, and never gives up fighting to help the weak.

In November 1979, pupils in England were able to watch a new TV program called Monkey. Most of them were hearing this story for the first time. However, this story is not new to Chinese children. The Monkey King or Sun Wukong is the main character in the traditional Chinese book Journey to the West.

The Monkey King is not just any normal monkey.In fact, he sometimes does not even look like a monkey! This is because he can make 72 changes to his shape and size, turning himself into different animals and objects. But unless he can hide his tail, he cannot turn himself into a person. To fight bad people, the Monkey
King uses a magic stick. Sometimes he can make the stick so small that he can keep it in his ear. At other times, he is able to make it big and long.

Grammar Focus
as soon as “一……就……”，引导时间状语从句；
so…that…“如此……以至于……”，that引导结果状语从句；
unless “除非，如果不”，引导条件状语从句。

注意：so 后面接形容词或副词。
so…that…“如此……以至于……”，that引导结果状语从句
例：这个男孩跑得如此之快以至于我追不上他。

He was so angry (adj.) that he couldn't say a word.
拓展：
（1）当that 引导的结果状语从句是肯定句时，so…that…可与be…enough to do sth. 进行同义转换；
（2）当that 引导的结果状语从句为否定句时，so…that…可与too…to…或be not…enough to do sth.进行同义转换。
The boy is so clever that he can answer the question easily.
=The boy is clever enough to answer the question easily.
He was so angry that he couldn't say a word.
= He was too angry to say a word.
注意：它引导的时间状语从句中，若主句是一般将来时、祈使句或谓语中含有情态动词时，从句常用一般现在时表将来。
unless “除非，如果不”，引导条件状语从句
例：如果不下雨，我们就去野餐。
We will go for a picnic unless it rains.
除非你妈妈允许，否则你最好不要出去。
You’d better not go out unless your mother allows you.
