Language points
1. For many students,it is easy to get to school.
(1)for介词,意为“对于,对……而言”。
例:For us, it is difficult to do it well. 对我们来说,做好这件事有难度。
(2)It's+形容词+(for sb.)+to do sth.做某事(对某人来说)是……的。句中it是形式主语,真正的主语是后面的动词不定式。
例:It's important to learn English well. 学好英语是重要的。
2. There is a very big river between their school and the village.
between 介词,意为“在……之间”。它常用于表示在两者之间。常用短语:between...and...在……和……之间。
例:The bank is between the school and the supermarket.
银行在学校与超市之间。
3. There is no bridge and the river runs too quickly for boats.
(1)no 作形容词,既可以修饰可数名词单数,相当于not a (an),也可以修饰可数名词复数或不可数名词,相当于not any。
例:I have no sister.=I don't have a sister. 我没有姐妹。
There are no classes on weekends.=There are not any classes on weekends.
周末没有课。
(2)run 作动词,在本句中意为“流淌”。
例:The river runs into our village. 这条河流进我们的村子。
(3)boat 作名词,意为“小船”。常用短语:by boat=take a boat 乘船。
例:It's a sunny day today. Let's go there by boat.

【辨析】cross与through
①cross 作动词,意为“穿过”。它指从某物体的表面的一边穿过到另一边。

例:The travelers went through the forest.旅行者们穿过了森林。
5. One 11 -yea-r old boy, Liangliang, crosses the river every school day.
(1)11- yea-r old是由“基数词+连字符+单数名词+连字符+ 形容词” 构成的复合形容词,在句中作定语。复合形容词有两个特点:一是数词、名词和形容词之间要用连字符连接;二是数词后的名词用单数形式。
例:She is a fifteen- year- old girl. 她是一个15岁的女孩。
(2)school day上学日。它表示在学校上学的日子。
例:I can't watch TV on school days. 在上学日期间,我不能看电视。

afraid 作形容词,意为“害怕;畏惧”。它常用作表语。
常用搭配:be afraid to do sth.或be afraid of doing sth.害怕做某事
