2. It held the 2008 Olympics.它举行过2008年奥运会。　
hold是动词，意为“举行，举办；拿着”，其过
去式和过去分词均为held。常用短语：hold on
等一下，坚持一下，别挂断(电话用语)；hold on
to坚持；hold up支持住，承受住。

我们学校下周要举办运动会。
3. Where else can you travel thousands of years back in time？
你能在别的什么地方旅行，做到数千年时光倒流？　
(1) else是副词，意为“其他”，通常放在疑问词或
不定代词之后。

(2) thousands of意为“成千上万的”，在这种表示
概数的短语中，数词要用复数形式，且在后面加介
词of。类似用法的词还有：hundred、million等。
Thousands of visitors came here for vacation last year.
去年有成千上万的游客来这里度假。
4. I will come back someday.将来有一天我会回来的。
【辨析】someday、some day、another day与one day
someday 意为“有一天”，多指将来的某一天，常用于一般将来时。
some day 意为“来日(将来的某一天)，总有一天，有朝一日”，常用于将来时。
another day 可表示近期将来的某一天，意为“改
天”，也可表示从过去来看将来的某一动作或状态延续的“又一天”。
one day 意为“有一天，终有一天”，既可用于过去时，也可用于将来时。用于将来时相当于someday。
