设计说明
  本节课通过检查作业,复习所学的有关家务的短语以及情态动词could的用法,引出本课时内容,然后学生自主完成Self Check。本课时的重难点是写作,学生通过话题写作,表达自己的观点,提高学生运用语言的能力及写作的能力。在写作过程中,做好写作前3a活动的讨论,为3b的写作做好铺垫,同时降低写作的难度,这样可以使学生对自己充满信心,有利于更好地完成写作任务。最后的小组活动,锻炼学生口语表达能力以及语言运用能力,突出合作学习,调动各个层面学生的积极性和参与意识。
教学目标
  1. 知识目标
  (1)掌握单词:fair,unfair。
  (2)归纳本单元重点短语、句型及语法。
  (3)话题写作:正确使用表达观点的句式I think/believe/ agree/disagree...,并能根据所给信息独立完成写作任务。
  2. 能力目标
  通过话题写作,完成一封信。表达自己的观点,提高学生运用语言的能力及写作能力。
  3. 情感目标
  认识到礼貌地提出请求及征询许可的重要性,提高学生的个人修养。
重点难点

  (1)本课时词汇。
  (2)归纳本单元重点短语、句型及语法。
  (3)话题写作:
  正确使用表达观点的句式I think/believe/agree/disagree...
  2. 难点:
  正确使用“征询对方许可和有礼貌地请求”的句型。完成写作任务。
教学准备
  1. 准备与本课时有关的图片。
  2. 准备多媒体课件。
教学过程
  Step 1 Review
  1. Check the homework.
  T:Good morning,boys and girls! First let’s check your homework. Write one sentence with each phrase from the letters in 2d on page 23.
  2. Revise the grammar in this unit.
  T:Please make conversations like this.
  A:Tom,could you please do the dishes
  B:Yes,sure. Ann,could I watch TV
  A:Yes,you can,but first you have to clean your room.
  3. Check the students to retell the letter.
  Step 2 Reading
  1. Read Mr. Smith’s letter freely and guide them to analyze the structure of the article.
  2. After reading,let several students say the topic sentence,the supporting sentence,example and the concluding sentence.
  The topic sentence:I think it is important...with house-work.
  The supporting sentence:It is not enough to just get good grades...keeping it clean and tidy.
  Example:Our neighbors’ son...his grades dropped.
  The concluding sentence:The earlier...the better it is for their future.
  Step 3 Writing
  1. Have a discussion.
  T:Do you often do chores at home
  S1:Yes,I often do some chores on weekends.
  T:Do you think children should do some chores at home
  S1:Yes,I think so.
  T:Why do you think children should do some chores at home
  S1:Because I think doing chores helps us learn to be independent.
  T:You are great. Now look at activity 3a. Please turn to page 23.
  2. Work on 3a.
  (1)Discuss the questions with a partner and take notes.
  Do you think children should do some chores at home Why or why not
  (Write“Children should do chores because...”and “Children should not do chores because...”on the blackboard.)
  (2)Read their notes. And check their answers.(Write their answers on the blackboard and fill in their chart.)
  3. Work on 3b.
  (1)Have the students write the article using the sentence patterns in 3b and the structure of Mr Smith’s letter. When they are writing,the teacher walks around the classroom. Give the students some help if they need.

  (2)Write a letter to the Sunday Mail magazine and express your opinion.
  (Give the students enough time to complete the letter in class. And have the students write their letters on a piece of paper.)
  (3)Collect their letters for checking.
  (4)Read the best letters aloud to the class and commend the writers.
  (5)Return the letters to the students and encourage them to read each other’s letters.
  Step 4 Self Check
  1. Work on activity 1.
  (1)Make a list of chores using these verbs.

  (1)Use the questions in activity 2 to write a conversation like this:

  (2)Practice the conversations in pairs.
  Step 5 Be a reporter
  The teacher organizes the whole students to have a discussion about Children Should Do Chores. Here is the note of your group. Please complete the chart. And then report it to the whole class.

  Step 6 Cooperative inquiry
  Discuss the following language points in groups and fill in the blanks.
  1. I think/believe后可以接that引导的宾语从句来表达看法,当think,believe等动词后接的宾语从句为含有not的否定句时,该否定应移至主句中,即:否定前移。
  I don’t think it will rain tomorrow.
  我认为明天不会下雨。
  2. fair形容词,意为“公平的”,其反义词为unfair,名词形式为fairness。
  3. 写英文书信的几个注意事项。
  (1)称呼:对收信人的尊称。
  通常在姓名前加Dear,如:Dear John。
  (2)结尾
  常用的英语书信结尾语如下:
  写给同龄人或年长的朋友:Yours sincerely,Sincerely yours,Yours等。
  写给好朋友:Love,With love等。
  写给亲人:Love,With love,Your(ever)loving son/sister等。
  (3)常见的私人信件的开头方式:
  高兴:I’m so glad/pleased/happy to receive your letter.
  感谢:Thank you for your wonderful gift/your interesting letter.
  关心与询问:How are you these days /How are you getting on these days /How are you getting on with your work
  抱歉:I am sorry that I did not write to you sooner but I have been very busy these days.
  一般在表示道歉没有及时给对方写信时,还要简述原因或写上安慰的话。
  遗憾:I’m sorry to learn that you did not do well in the examination./I’m so upset to hear that you are ill these days. I do hope you are getting better.

Ⅱ. 1. unfair 句意为“不告诉她事实是不公平的”,故用fair的反义词unfair(不公平的)。
2. likes neither...nor...连接两个并列主语时,谓语动词与靠近的主语保持一致。his father为单数,用第三人称单数形式,故填likes。
3. to buy There is no need for sb. to do sth. 意为“对于某人来说做某事是没有必要的”,故填to buy。
4. waiting mind doing sth. 意为“介意做某事”,为固定搭配。
