Period 4 （Section B 2a-2e）
设计说明
　　首先利用图片教授新单词，直观性强，同时创设了语言学习环境，有利于学生的理解和运用。在阅读前，要教给学生一定的阅读策略；阅读中，要对学生进行必要的做题方法指导。在老师的指导下学生独立完成2b-2d的练习之后，老师精讲课文中的一些难点，帮助学生更好地理解课文；播放录音，让学生跟读课文，矫正学生发音，提高学生的听读能力；在学生听读训练结束之后，完成2e，检查学生对课文内容的掌握情况。
教学目标
　　1. 知识目标
　　（1）掌握单词和短语：passage，pupil，completely，shocked，silence，recently，terrorist，date，tower，truth；in silence，take down。
　　（2）掌握句型：①People often remember what they were doing when they heard the news of important events in history. ②My parents were completely shocked! ③More recently，most Americans remember what they were doing when the World Trade Center in New York was taken down by terrorists. ④She remembers working in her office near the two towers. ⑤I was so scared that I could hardly think clearly after that.

　　1. Use pictures to teach the new words and phrases：passage，pupil，completely，shocked，silence，recently，terrorist，date，tower，truth；in silence，take down.（板书新单词、短语）

　　阅读策略提示：预读英语文章的重要方法之一就是，预读文章的标题和每段的首句。标题一般会给出文章的大主题，而每段的首句往往会给出文段的主旨大意。结合题目和图片我们可以推断出，本文内容可能是谈论两件大事发生时人们在做什么。

　　2. Work on 2b.
　　（1）Read the questions in 2b. Make sure the students understand the questions.
　　（2）Scan the passage to find out the answers to the questions.
　　（3）Check the answers.
　　Answers：1. One is that Dr. Martin Luther King was killed. The other is that the World Trade Center in New York was taken down by terrorists.

　　（1）Ask the students to read the sentences and make sure they know the meaning of each sentence well.
　　（2）Read the passage again. This time they must read the passage more carefully. Underline sentences from the passage with similar meanings to the ones in 2d.
　　（3）Check the answers.

　　5. Discuss the language points.
　　（1）was killed的意思是“被杀害”，表达的是被动关系。语法上将这种语言现象称作“被动语态”，文中was taken down的意思是“被摧毁”，也是被动语态。
　　（2）over的同义词语是more than。
　　（3）the rest of... 意为“剩余的……”。

　　（4）辨析：true与truth
true 形容词，意为“真实的；真正的” This is a true story. 这是一个真实的故事。
truth 不可数名词，意为“实情；事实” The man didn’t tell the truth. 这个男人没有说实话。
　　（5）辨析：mean与meaning
mean 作及物动词，意为“意思是” What does this word mean 这个单词是什么意思？
meaning 作名词，意为“意思，含义”，既是可数名词，又是不可数名词 What’s the meaning of this word 这个单词的意思是什么？
　　（6）have trouble（in）doing sth. 为固定结构，意为“做某事有困难或麻烦”。表达类似意思的结构还有：have problems/difficulty（in）doing sth. 。
　　6. Play the recorder. Ask the students to listen and repeat.
　　7. Students practice reading the passage individually. Ask them to pay attention to the verbs which tell us what was happening and happened in the past.
　　Walk around the classroom while the students are reading. Give them help if necessary.
　　8. Give the correct forms of the verbs in parentheses. Do not refer to the passage until you finish your exercises.
　　People often remember what they were doing when they heard（hear） the news of important events in history. In America，many people remember what they were doing（do） when Dr. Martin Luther King was killed（kill） on April 4，1968.
　　Most Americans remember what they were doing when the World Trade Center in New York was taken（take） down by terrorists on September 11，2001.
　　Kate remembers working in her office. Her friend shouted that a plane hit（hit） the World Trade Center. She didn’t believe him at first，but then she looked out of the window and realized（realize） that it was true. She was so scared that she could hardly think clearly after that.
　　9. Work on 2e.
　　（1）Ask the students to write as many questions as they can according to the passage.
　　（2）Then ask several students to read their questions. Correct the mistakes they make in their sentences.
　　（3）Ask the students to use the questions to test their partners. Walk around the classroom while the students are reading. Give them help if necessary.

答案与解析：
Ⅰ. 1. pupil　根据“Grade 3（三年级）”可知，句意为“当他是三年级的学生时，他开始学习英语”。pupil意为“学生”，并且前面有不定冠词a，故用其单数形式pupil。
2. completely　副词completely用来修饰后面的形容词right。
3. date　根据答语“March 18th.（3月18号）”可知，问句句意为“你的出生日期是什么？”date意为 “日期”。
4. passage　passage意为“文章”，根据后面的it可知，passage用其单数形式，故填passage。
5. tower　tower意为“塔；塔楼”，根据空格前面的不定冠词a可知，tower用其单数形式，故填tower。
Ⅱ. 1. A　结合选项可知句意为“我妈妈太累了。她沉默地躺下了”。in silence是固定搭配，意为“无声地；沉默地”，可修饰动词短语lie down；keep silent是动词短语，意为“保持沉默”，不能修饰动词短语，故选A。
2. D　句意：米勒先生太忙了，以至于几乎没有时间去看望父母。hard意为“困难的；努力地”；nearly意为“几乎”；ever意为“曾经”；hardly意为“几乎没有”。因此选D。
3. B　句意为“上周一只猫在一起交通事故中被杀死了”。因此应用被动语态。被动语态的构成：be +动词的过去分词。
4. A　句意为“当开始下雨时，我意识到我没有带伞”。realize意为“认识到；意识到”；think意为“认为； 想”；guess意为“猜测”；discover意为“发现”。D项在此处时态不对，故排除。根据句意可知应选A。
