Period 4 (Section B 2a-2e)
设计说明
  本课的阅读篇目具有说明文的一些特征。在做读前活动时,让学生分组利用2a提供的一些词汇,自己组织语言说一说大熊猫,为2b的阅读活动做好话题准备。2b、2c要求学生用寻读法完成任务。首先要求学生快速寻读2b文章,找出数字分别对应的内容,再引导学生用完整的句子表达这些数字的含义。然后让学生阅读2c的五个问题,在充分理解问题的基础上分段快速寻读文章,找出关键信息,并在问题后写出简略答语。2d要求学生仔细阅读2b文章,尽可能记住文章的细节,再用文章中的语言将2d的句子补充完整,朗读并核对答案,进一步巩固所学内容。学生在仔细阅读的时候,会遇到一些理解上的问题,因此要对一些知识点或难点进行讲解。为了帮助学生更深入地理解文章,让学生再次阅读文章,可以一边读一边完成框架图,然后鼓励学生用自己的语言复述课文。2e是在学生深入理解文章的基础上,导入保护大熊猫的话题。让学生进行分组讨论后,集中展示,达到语言输出的目的,同时提高保护动物的意识。
教学目标
  1. 知识目标
  (1)掌握单词和短语:bamboo,endangered,research,keeper,awake,excitement,illness,wild,government;walk into,fall over,or so。
  (2)掌握句型:①Scientists say there are now fewer than 2,000 pandas living in the forests. ②Many years ago,there were a lot more bamboo forests and pandas in China... ③And the Chinese government is trying hard to help save the pandas. ④We all hope that in the future there will be a lot more pandas.
  2. 能力目标
  (1)正确使用形容词和副词的原级、比较级和最高 级,学会对事实和数字进行比较。
  (2)运用寻读法,快速查找信息点。
  3. 情感目标
  了解大熊猫及其生存现状,引导学生关爱动物,保护环境。
重点难点

  (1)掌握本课时单词、短语和句型,了解说明文的一些特点。

教学过程
  Step 1 Warming up
0. 1-0. 2 kilos 15 cm 20-30 years
  Show the picture to students. Have students talk about the baby panda.
  Step 2 Presentation
  1. Teach the new words:bamboo,endangered,research,keeper,awake,excitement,illness,wild,government.
  For example:
  T:What do they eat
  S1:Bamboo.
  T:Where are they from
  S2:Sichuan.
  T:Where do they live
  S3:In zoos or forests.
  T:What are they look like
  Ss:They are cute.
  T:Why should we protect them
  S4:Because they are in great danger.
  2. Practice reading the new words and check them.
  (1)Choose the right words according to the pictures.

  Step 3 Group work
  Divide the class into groups of four. Tell students that they will take turns to tell a story about pandas. Each student in the group picks three words or phrases from the list and will be responsible for using those three words or phrases to form sentences about pandas in their story-telling.
  For example:
  S1:There was a family of pandas living in a forest.
  S2:The father and the mother were black and white.
  S3:...
  Step 4 Reading
  1. Read the passage quickly and match each paragraph with the main idea.
 
  2. Please scan the passage and find out what these numbers mean.
  (1)Write these numbers 10,12,300,2,000 on the blackboard. Then have students underline all the numbers (in words and numerals)that they see in the passage.
  (2)Have students focus on the four numbers given in the instructions and tell what these four numbers represent.
  (3)Have students use complete sentences to describe what the numbers mean.
  2,000:Scientists say there are now fewer than 2,000 pandas living in the forests.
  300:Another 300 or so live in zoos or research centers in China and other countries.
  10 and 12:Adult pandas spend more than 12 hours a day eating about 10 kilos of bamboo.
  阅读提示:使用寻读法(scanning)直接搜寻数字,然后阅读数字前后的内容,确定数字表达的信息。
  3. Read Paras. 1 and 2,and answer the questions.
  (1)What is Lin Wei’s job
  A panda keeper.
  (2)What do the baby pandas have for breakfast
  Milk.
  Read Paras. 3 and 4 to learn the panda’s problems and the ways of protecting them. And get the students to answer the questions.
  (3)Why are pandas endangered
  Humans cut down bamboo forests. Pandas don’t have many babies and baby pandas often die from illnesses and don’t live very long.
  (4)What does the education program in Chengdu do
  It teaches children about pandas and other endangered wild animals.
  (5)Why are scientists doing research
  They are doing research to better understand the habits of pandas.
  4. Get the class to read the article and translate the following phrases:

  5. Work on 2d.
(1)Have students read the passage carefully and complete the sentences using words from the passage.
  (2)Check the answers. Explain the main difficulties to students.

  (3)Play the recording. Students listen and repeat.
  (4)Complete the following mind-map,and then retell the passage.

  (1)Have students work in groups to discuss the topic,and each student should write down the summary of their ideas.

  Step 5 Cooperative inquiry
  Discuss the following language points in groups and fill in the blanks.
  1. ...they run over to them with excitement and some of the young pandas even walk into their friends and fall over! ……它们兴奋地跑向他们,其中一些年幼的大熊猫甚至撞上自己的伙伴而跌倒!
  此句中run over,walk into和fall over均为短语动词。
  (1)run over的意思是“跑上前去;跑过去”,其中over用作副词,表示“从……的一边到另一边;穿越”。
  The pupils ran over to their parents with excitement after school. 放学后,小学生们兴奋地跑向自己的父母。
  (2)walk into表示“走路时撞着”。
  He was so careless that he walked into a tree.
  他太不小心了竟然撞到了树上。
  (3)fall over表示“摔倒;绊倒;倒下”。
  Don’t run so fast,or you might fall over.
  别跑太快,要不你可能会摔跤。
  2. Pandas do not have many babies,maybe only one every two years. 大熊猫产崽并不多,也许每两年才生一只。
  every与数词或few,other等连用时,表示时间或空间的间隔,其形式有:
  (1)“every+基数词+复数名词”意为“每……”。
  I visit my grandparents every two weeks.
  我每两周(每隔一周)去看望我的祖父母一次。
  (2)every + other +可数名词单数,意为“每隔……”。
  She buys vegetables every other day.
  她每隔一天买一次菜。
  (3)every + few+复数名词,意为“每几……,每隔几……”。
  We plant a tree every few meters along the road.
  我们沿着公路每隔几米种一棵树。

答案与解析:
Ⅰ. 1. less 由much和than可知应用比较级;little的比较级为less。
2. keepers 句意为“其他的大熊猫饲养员正在准备牛奶作为大熊猫宝宝的早餐”。由be动词are可知,可数名词keeper应用复数形式。
3. babies most of意为“……的大多数”,其后可数名词应用复数形式。baby的复数形式为babies。
4. illness her为形容词性物主代词,修饰名词。ill的名词形式为illness。
5. awake awake形容词,意为“醒着”,常作表语。前面有was,故用awake作表语。

2. B die of 意为“死于(内因)”;die from意为“死于 (外因)”,由traffic accident(交通事故)可知,是外因,故选B。
3. A “主语 + 谓语+数词 + times + as +形容词或副词原级+ as +被比较的内容”表示倍数,故选A。
4. D with excitement 意为“兴奋地”。句意:当粉丝们看到这个有名的歌手时,他们兴奋地呼喊起来。
5. C prepare... for... 意为“为……准备……”,为固定搭配。句意:我们必须为客人们准备一个房间。
