设计说明
  本课时2b的语篇为重点部分,语篇的设计很好地体现了本单元语言目标的综合运用。通过泛读、精读、朗读、句子和短语翻译、读后训练等不同的阅读任务,能提高不同层次学生的阅读能力;通过3a,3b的写作练习和Summary,进一步巩固描写外貌的一系列词汇和句型,提高学生的写作能力。
教学目标
  1. 知识目标:
  (1)掌握单词和短语:artist,crime,criminal,put,each,way,describe,differently,another,end,real,jeans;in the end。
  (2)读懂课文“An Interesting Job”。
  (3)学写作文,介绍自己的好朋友。
  2. 能力目标:
  (1)掌握关于描写人物外貌特征的表达方法。
  (2)学会使用代词指代上文出现过的相关人物或 事物。
  3. 情感目标:
  (1)了解不同人物的外貌,简单地表述自己的观点,学会交换不同的看法,在人际交往中学会尊重和理解他人。
  (2)了解中西方文化在外表的描述上存在的差异,培养跨文化交际的意识。
重点难点

  (1)掌握本课时的单词、短语和句型。
  (2)学写作文,介绍自己的好朋友。
  2. 难点:
  理清写作思路,正确运用描述性形容词,灵活运用代词。
教学准备
  多媒体课件,2b的音频文件,调查用的表格。
教学过程
  Step 1 Revision & Warming up
  1. Daily greetings.
  2. One student describes his/her favorite person,and the other students listen carefully. Ask them to make notes when they are listening. Then answer the teacher’s questions. For example:
  My mother
  My mother is beautiful. She is tall. She isn’t heavy or thin. She has long curly blonde hair. She has big eyes and a small mouth. She wears a pair of glasses. She also wears a new dress and a long scarf...
  Then the teacher asks the other students. For example:
  T:Is her mother tall or short
  Ss:She is tall.
  T:Is her mother heavy
  Ss:No,she isn’t heavy or thin.
  T:Does she wear glasses
  Ss:Yes,she does.
  ...
  3. Review the adjectives.
  Look at the chart in plete it with words of the opposite meaning.
  Then have the students make sentences with them. For example:My math teacher is young. But my Chinese teacher is old.
  Answers:old,heavy/fat,short,short,straight
  Step 2 Presentation
  Show a photo of an artist to the students. Then ask and answer.
  T:Look at the picture. What does he do

  Step 3 Reading
  Show the three pictures in 2b to the students. Then ask them to describe the people’s looks in each picture.
  T:One of them is a criminal. The police are looking for him. Do you know who the real criminal is
  Ss:Sorry,we don’t know.
  T:OK. Let’s read the newspaper article in 2b and find the answer.
  1. Fast reading
  Read the article quickly and answer this question:Which picture shows the real criminal
  Answer:The last picture.
  2. Careful reading
  (1)Ask the students to read the newspaper article carefully. Then answer the questions.
  ①What does Joe Brown do He is a police artist.
  ②Do you think Joe Brown’s job is interesting Yes,I do.
  ③What does the real criminal look like He is a short and heavy old man,and he has short black hair.
  (2)Ask the students to read the article after the recording. Then write what the words in bold refer to.
  Before 2c,review the use of pronouns. Explain that these always refer to an earlier noun in the passage. Give an example on the blackboard.

  (3)Underline the following phrases in the passage and translate them into Chinese.

  3. Have the students discuss the language points.
  (1)put意为“放”,常用结构为“put sth. +介词短语”。
  把……刊登在报纸上put...in newspapers
  把……投放到电视上 put...on television
  (2)each用作形容词,修饰可数名词单数,意为“每个;各自”。用作代词,可单独作主语,也可与of短语连用作主语,其谓语动词用单数形式。
  Each boy has(have) a new pen.
  Each of them likes(like) music.
  (3)differently是副词,由形容词different加后缀-ly构成,意为“不同地”,通常放在动词之后。different意为“不同的”。
  Different people describe the same thing differently. (different)
  不同的人将同样的事情描述得不一样。
  (4)the same way意为“同样的方式”。same作形容词时,其前往往有定冠词the,其后名词用单数。
  the same person同一个人
  (5)another泛指三者或三者以上的同类事物中的“另一个”;作形容词时,常修饰可数名词单数形式。
  There is another boat on the lake.
  湖上还有一艘船。
  (6)in the end意为“最后”,与at last和finally同义。
  In the end/At last/Finally,the police found the real criminal.
  最后,警方找到了真正的罪犯。
  (7)real为形容词,修饰或说明事物的特征,其后加-ly可构成副词。
  It doesn’t happen (发生) in real life.
  这在真实的生活中不会发生。
  I am really(real) tall and heavy. I really(real) like wearing sports clothes.
  我确实长得又高又胖。我非常喜欢穿运动服。
  Step 4 Writing
  1. Ask the students to look at the picture in 3a,and then fill in the blanks with the words in the box. Check the answers and have the students read aloud by themselves.
  Answers:looks;handsome;straight,glasses;shoes
  2. Ask the students to ask and answer questions according to the picture in 3a in pairs. For example:
  S1:Look at this picture. What does Jack look like
  S2:He is very tall and handsome. He has straight brown hair.
  S1:What does he usually wear
  S2:He usually wears jeans,a T-shirt and sports shoes.
  S1:Is he good at soccer
  S2:Yes,he is.
  ...
  3. Write a new passage.
  Ask the students to write a passage about their best friends. The questions in the box in 3b may help them. Then ask some students to show their passages.
  Step 5 Self Check
  1. Sum up the words to describe people’s looks.
  Ask the students to add more words in each box. For example,write two words for “Height” box,three words for “Build” box,four words for “Hair” box and five words for “Other features” box. Encourage the students to scan their textbooks for ideas and examples.
  2. What do you and your parents look like Write a passage to describe yourself and your family members.
  Step 6 Summary
  In this lesson,we have learned:
  1. New words and a phrase:artist,crime,criminal,put,each,way,describe,differently,another,end,real,jeans;in the end.
