本课时2b的语篇为重点部分,语篇设计的情景不仅介绍了中国传统节日——端午节,还让学生了解到中西方不同的文化习俗,通过泛读、精读、学生讨论、连线、句子和短语翻译等不同的任务,让不同层次的学生的阅读能力都能得到提高;通过3a和3b的写作练习,进一步巩固对现在进行时的理解,让学生发扬长处、弥补不足,提高自己的能力。
教学目标
1. 知识目标:
(1)掌握单词和短语:race,host,study,state,American,dragon,any,other,young,child(pl. children),miss,wish,delicious,still;the United States,Dragon Boat Festival,living room。
(2)读懂朱辉和两个家庭的故事,了解端午节习俗和东西方文化的差异。
(3)学习写一篇作文,介绍家人正在做的事情。

(2)了解节日文化及习俗,并以此为载体学习相关的语言项目。

Step 1 Revision & Warming up
1. Greet as usual.
2. Check the homework.
S1 gives a report about what his/her family are doing. Others listen carefully and retell what they are doing.
The teacher can give a model if necessary.
S1:I am Tom. It’s 7 o’clock in the morning now. My family are all at home. My father is watching TV. My mother is cleaning the room. And I am reading a book.
Step 2 Presentation
T:Look at the pictures in 2b. Can you guess what day it is

Step 3 Reading
1. Fast reading.
Read the TV report and answer the two questions.
(1)Why are Zhu Hui’s family watching boat races and making zongzi
Because today is the Dragon Boat Festival.
(2)Does Zhu Hui like his host family What does he think about his home in China
Yes,he does. He thinks there’s still “no place like home”.
2. Careful reading.
Ask the students to read the TV report again and match the verbs in column A with the words in column B in 2c. Then use the phrases to write sentences according to the TV report.

(1)race用于体育话题时,主要指赛车、赛跑、游泳等与速度相关的比赛;而game多指与球类、棋类相关的比赛。

(2)any other night意为“其他任何一个夜晚”,这里的any表示“任何的;任一的”;any other...表示“任何别 的……;任何其他的……”,其后接单数名词。

(3)children是child的复数形式,为不规则变化,意为“儿童,孩子”。

(4)misses为及物动词miss的第三人称单数形式,此处意为“想念,思念”。miss作及物动词还表示“错过”。

(5)wish意为“希望”,其后常接动词不定式作宾语,构成wish to do sth. 短语。

Step 4 Writing
1. Work on 3a.
T:Let’s look at a picture of Jim’s family and complete his letter to Bob in 3a.

2. Work on 3b.
Have the students bring some photos or draw some pictures of their family or friends and write a short passage about them.
Help the students to finish the compositions.
One possible version:
These are photos of my family. Look! My mother is cooking in the kitchen. My father is reading a newspaper. My grandparents are watching TV in the living room. My brother is playing with his toys. I’m doing my homework.
We are having a good time.
Step 5 Self Check
1. Work on Exercise 1.
Have the students compete to write the most words they can think of in just two minutes. After two minutes the teacher will say,“Stop!”The students with the most words win. Let them read out their word lists.
2. Work on Exercise 2.
Tell the students A and B to talk about what they are doing now. Read the conversation and write questions with the help of the words and phrases in the brackets.
3. Check the answers with the class.

Ⅰ. 1. B 由空格所在句可知,空格处所填单词用于否定句且与不可数名词连用,故选any。
