Lesson 17: Save the Tigers
设计说明 首先通过一个猜谜游戏将学生引入新课,然后借助图片介绍老虎的种类并让学生思考老虎的现状。在学习课文前先通过图片和例句学习生词,然后通过阅读匹配段落大意,对文章有整体了解;之后,通过阅读每个段落找出支持段落大意的句子、阅读回答问题、阅读查找短语等活动达到对文章的理解。接下来让学生讨论如何保护动物。 最后,讲解本课的重要知识点并通过当堂检测进行巩固练习。本节课从多个角度、多种形式上对本课的语言知识进行练习,从而达到教学目的,实现教学目标。 教学目标 通过本课节的教学,学生达成以下目标: 1. 知识目标 掌握单词:century, courage, brave, reason, kill, cut 接触单词:fur, symbol, chain, balance, disappear, decrease 短语:at the beginning of…, drop to, food chain, in balance, in danger, cut down, as well 2. 能力目标 能用英语谈论保护老虎的话题。 3. 情感目标 保护野生动物,爱护环境。 重点难点 1.重点:掌握本课节中的重点单词、短语及句型。 2.难点:能用英语谈论保护老虎的话题。 教学准备 PPT 课件。 授课时数 1课时 教学过程 Step 1 Warming up 1. Ask students to guess a riddle: It usually has orange fur(毛)and dark stripes(条纹). It is the king in the animal world. What animal is it Answer: Tiger. 2. Ask students: How many types of tigers do you know Then introduce the six types of tigers with the help of pictures. There are currently six types of tigers: the Bengal tiger, the Siberian tiger, the Sumatran tiger, the Malayan tiger, the Indochinese tiger and the South China tiger. 3. Ask students to think about: Where can you usually see a tiger Do you think tigers need our help Why or why not Step 2 Presentation 1. Teach students to learn about the new words century, courage, brave, reason, kill, cut, fur, symbol, chain, balance, disappear, decrease with the help of pictures and sentences. 2. Answers:   “Save the tigers” is a group of volunteers. These volunteers hope to save the tigers of the world. At the beginning of the 20th century, the number of tigers in the wild was around 100 000. But today that number has dropped to a few thousand.   Tigers live in the forests of Asia. They usually have orange fur and dark stripes. Tigers are symbols of strength and courage. In many stories, they are brave. The tiger is at the top of the food chain. It helps keep the number of other wild animals in balance. For this reason, tigers are important to the environment.   In recent years, tigers have been in danger of disappearing. Some people hunt and kill tigers for money. People have cut down a lot of trees as well. As forests disappear, tigers lose their homes. The number of tigers in the wild is quickly decreasing and we must do something about it. 4. Ask students to read the lesson again and answer the questions.
