一般过去时(1)
◆定义：一般过去时表示过去发生的动作或存在的状态，要与表示过去的一些时间状语连用，如： yesterday, last night/week/month, the day before yesterday, in 1989, two weeks ago等。
◆动词be的过去式为was/were。当主语是第一人称单数或第三人称单数时，be动词用was；当主语是第二人称或其他人称复数时，be动词用were。如：
◇I was a teacher three years ago. 三年前我是一名教师。
◇They were at home last Monday. 上周一他们在家。
◆含有be动词的一般过去时的句式结构：
1. 肯定句：主语＋ was/were＋其他. 如：
They were very happy last night. 他们昨晚很开心。
2. 否定句：主语 ＋ was not(wasn't)/were not(weren't)＋其他. 如：
My parents were not in Beijing two days ago. 两天前，我的父母不在北京。
3. 一般疑问句：Was/Were＋主语＋其他？
肯定回答：Yes, 主语＋was/were.
否定回答：No, 主语＋wasn't/weren't. 如：
—Were you at school yesterday？你昨天在学校吗？
—Yes, I was. /No, I wasn't. 是的，我在。/不，我不在。
4. 特殊疑问句：特殊疑问词＋was/were＋主语＋其他？如：Where were you born？你出生于哪里？
◆there be句型的一般过去时表示“过去某时在某地有某人或某物”。
◆there be句型中如果有两个或两个以上的并列主语，be动词要和最靠近它的那个主语在数上保持一致，即“就近原则”。如：There was a computer and some books on the teacher's desk yesterday. 昨天老师的讲桌上有一台电脑和一些书。
