情态动词can的用法
情态动词有一定的意义, 但无人称和数的形式上的变化; 通常后接不带to的动词不定式, 表示说话人的语气和情态。其否定式的构成是: 情态动词+not (cannot=can’t)。
can 表示能力
can+动词原形 某人能做某事
cannot / can’t +动词原形 某人不能做某事
e.g. I can speak English.
I can play table tennis.
I can’t play football. Dick can’t speak Chinese.
They can swim. They can’t dance.
Daming can ride a bike. He can’t drive a car.
询问某人能不能做某事,须将can提至句首。
e.g. – Can you speak Chinese
– Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
– Can she swim
– Yes, she can. / No, I can’t.

否定式cannot比缩略形式can’t要正式。口语中一般用缩略形式。
can表示的“能力”为现在的能力,而不表示过去或将来。
