Qinghuaci ware is one of the most well-known cultural products in China, with items made in Jingdezhen, Jiangxi province, considered the best in quality.
Cai Wenjuan’s parents and grandparents made qinghuaci here. Cai’s childhood memories are connected to ceramics, which led her to find her passion in painting as a girl. Even after graduating from Jingdezhen Ceramic University in 2006, she didn’t think about inheriting the family craft and became a saleswoman at a ceramic studio in Beijing back then.
After two years of selling ceramics Cai was captivated by the blue-and-white ware. She quit her job and returned to her hometown in late 2008, starting a two-year learning experience of painting blue-and-white porcelain items. In 2012, Cai established her own ceramics-making company and two years later, she built the ceramics-themed brand China Story.
Pushing the boundaries of the age-old practice, Cai puts blue-and-white patterns, inspired by Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) porcelain, on daily objects such as phone cases, umbrellas, pillows and so on. So far, more than 1,000 kinds of cultural products have been sold by her company. “The charm and story behind the blue-and-white china can be told through the way the young generation feels connected,” Cai says, adding that china can be stylish.
As a provincial-level inheritor of the blue-and-white china-painting, she devotes herself to passing on the craft by combining the ancient charm with modern aesthetics. On video-sharing platform Douyin, Cai has posted more than 60 clips to popularize the craft and the culture behind it. “One day, I hope there are traditional Chinese elements everywhere in daily life,” Cai says. Like Cai, more young artists are considering a career in china-related businesses in Jingdezhen, with the local government rolling out supportive measures for a variety of startups in the field.
5. What caused Cai Wenjuan to be fond of painting
A. Her gift. B. Her curiosity.
C. Her being tired of selling goods. D. Her childhood experience.
6. What does the underlined word “captivated” probably mean
A. shocked B. attracted C. embarrassed D. challenged
7. Which of the following words can be used to best describe Cai Wenjuan
A. Considerate. B. Creative. C. Strict. D. Generous.
8. What can we know about the qinghuaci industry
A. It needs checking. B. It needs culture.
C. It has a bright future. D. It has a limited platform.
D 6. B 7. B 8. C

根据第四段“Pushing the boundaries of the age-old practice, Cai puts blue-and-white patterns, inspired by Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) porcelain, on daily objects such as phone cases, umbrellas, pillows and so on.(她以元代(1271-1368)瓷器为灵感,在手机壳、雨伞、枕头等日常用品上画上了青花图案,突破了这一古老习俗的界限)”可推知,蔡文娟具有创新能力。故选B。

If you think of a game of fetch, you might picture a dog running back and forth, eagerly recovering a ball. But a new study shows that they’re not the only pets that like the game: Cats play fetch, too, just on their own unique terms.
The researchers discovered almost 1,000 owners of 1,154 cats to find out if and why. According to their findings, nearly 95% of the cat owners reported that their cats fetched items naturally. One respondent said his cat returned the toy completely for no reason.
Fetching was mainly first noticed when cats were under I year old. What’s more, “cats who fetch largely determine when they engage in fetching activities and actively influence the play behavior of their owners,” according to the study. “So, it can say a bit about cats being in control of their interactions and being in control of their environments, even being in control of us. You might even go so far to say,” says Jemma Forman, the co-author of the study.
But the motivation for cats to fetch objects seems to be different from that for dogs. Cats are more likely to play on their own with objects similar to prey (猎物). For dogs, play is more social, involving either another dog or human.
In general, play has major advantages for both the pet and the owner, as it not only helps to prevent attack towards, the owner, but also models the act of preying on real animals, an important kind of play behavior. “So even if your cat doesn’t play fetch, obviously it’s a really good idea to try and engage them in any sort of play. Play does have a lot of benefits,” says Forman. “It’s about owner acceptance to your fur baby,” she says.
9. Why does the author mention dogs in Paragraph 1
A. To offer basic information of dogs.
B. To make an outline for the passage.
C. To introduce the topic of the passage.
D. To conclude the meaning of the topic.
10. How does the author develop Paragraph 2
A. By raising questions. B. By listing data.
C. By making a comparison. D. By offering an example.
11. What does a cat think of playing with an object
A. A social action. B. A learning process.
C. A serious task. D. A preying activity.
12. What would be the best title for this passage
A. Cats Play Fetch Too B. Train Cats to Fetch
C. New Findings on Dogs D. Dogs Play Fetch, Too
C 10. B 11. D 12. A
根据第一段“If you think of a game of fetch, you might picture a dog running back and forth, eagerly recovering a ball. But a new study shows that they’re not the only pets that like the game: Cats play fetch, too, just on their own unique terms.(如果你想到捡球游戏,你可能会想到一只狗跑来跑去,急切地捡回一个球。但一项新的研究表明,它们并不是唯一喜欢这个游戏的宠物:猫也会玩接球游戏,只是它们有自己独特的方式。)”可知,作者在第一段提到狗是为了介绍文章的主题:猫也喜欢接球游戏。故选C。
【10题详解】
推理判断题。根据第二段“The researchers discovered almost 1,000 owners of 1,154 cats to find out if and why. According to their findings, nearly 95% of the cat owners reported that their cats fetched items naturally.(研究人员找到了1154只猫的近1000名主人,以找出原因。根据他们的发现,近95%的猫主人报告说,他们的猫自然地拿东西。)”可知,第二段主要是通过列出数据来展开的,故选B。
【11题详解】
推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“But the motivation for cats to fetch objects seems to be different from that for dogs. Cats are more likely to play on their own with objects similar to prey (猎物).(但是猫拿东西的动机似乎与狗不同。猫更有可能自己玩类似猎物的东西。)”可知,猫在玩东西时会以为这是一个捕猎活动,故选D。
【12题详解】
主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其是第一段“But a new study shows that they’re not the only pets that like the game: Cats play fetch, too, just on their own unique terms.(但一项新的研究表明,它们并不是唯一喜欢这个游戏的宠物:猫也会玩接球游戏,只是它们有自己独特的方式。)” 故选A。

上文“I found myself in a class with only two children I’d met before (我发现自己所在的班级只有两个以前见过的孩子)”说明班级里只有两个自己原来认识的孩子;下文“In fact, before the end of the day one I knew all 28 of my new classmates by heart (事实上,在第一天结束之前,我已经把我所有的28个新同学都记熟了) ”说明作者原来只认识两个孩子,但是第一天就快速的记住了所有的同学,上下文句意转折,由此可知,B项“But I soon got to know everyone (但我很快就认识了每个人) ”符合题意。故选B项。
根据下文“Remembering people starts with listening to what they’re called, and taking a proper look at their face. I make a point of repeating their names in my head, and silently saying something to myself about their appearance.(记住别人首先要听别人叫他们什么,并适当地看一眼他们的脸。我特意在脑海中重复他们的名字,并默默地对自己说一些关于他们外表的话)”可知,本段主要说明如何快速记住别人的一些注意事项,因此A项“Pay attention.(注意)” 统领本段,概括了本段内容,符合题意。故选A项。
上文“Spot similarities. (发现相似之处)”以及下文“So, who does this person look like (那么,这个人长得像谁呢?) ”可知,该空句意应该承上启下,说明在认识新人的时候,应该和记忆里的一些信息结合起来,因此, D项“It’s always good to connect new information with things you already know.( 将新信息与你已经拥有的东西联系起来总是很好的) ”切题,符合上下文句意。故选D项。
第三部分 英语知识运用(共两节,满分25分)

Helen was putting her dress on. It was a bit small, but she could manage.
She would be getting the rent with her father, Mr. Resnick, today. Helen didn’t often get to spend time with her father these days. He was always working, and always trying to make enough money to support the family. The rent was what kept them going during the Depression When Helen worried about her too-tight dress, other children had to worry about food or even their homes.
The houses were not far, and three families lived there. Everything went smoothly at the first two apartments, but both Helen and her father were worried about the third. The Katz family never had enough money, and it had become harder and harder to accept their rent, even though her father had lowered it.
Mrs. Katz opened the door when Helen’s father knocked. “Her eyes were red—from crying,” Helen thought. “Good afternoon, Mr. Resnick,” she said, hands nervously smoothing her gray dress.
“How are you, Mrs. Katz ” he asked.
“We’re. we’re getting by (勉强度日),” she said, but she wouldn’t meet his eyes or even Helen’s. “You’re here for the rent.”
“Yes, Mrs. Katz, I’m afraid so.”
“Please come in.”
Inside of the apartment, Mr. Katz and the two children were sitting at a table, waiting for Mr. Resnick. “They all have such thin faces!” Helen thought. She was embarrassed, suddenly, by her own round cheeks and strong body.
Mrs. Katz gave Helen’s father the money. He thanked her and turned to go.
“Mr. Resnick ” Mrs. Katz said before they could leave. He turned to look at her. In a shaking voice she told him, “We haven’t eaten in two days.”

Two days! Helen couldn’t imagine such a thing. Her stomach ached just to think of it. Mr. Resnick asked “Mr. Katz, is that true ” Mr. Katz didn’t answer but nodded. Without a word, Helen’s father put all of the Katz’s rent money back on the table. Then he seriously counted out two dollars in coins. “Helen,” he said, “I want you to go down to the store and buy food and bring it right back here.”
“Yes, Dad,” she answered and started running on the way to the store. Holding the coins tightly, Helen arrived at the store. As she chose tasty and good foods, bread, flour, beans…, she suddenly realized two dollars bought such a lot! Finally, when she carried all the food back to the house, everyone’s eyes flew to her, and her father smiled. Helen laughed with joy, too. Though life might be harder, she knew Dad and she did a good job.

After two years of selling ceramics, Cai was captivated by the blue-and-white ware.
A. shocked B. attracted C. embarrassed D. challenged

A. Considerate. B. Creative. C. Strict. D. Generous.
8. What can we know about the qinghuaci industry
A. It needs checking. B. It needs culture.
C It has a bright future. D. It has a limited platform.

A. Cats Play Fetch, Too B. Train Cats to Fetch
C. New Findings on Dogs D. Dogs Play Fetch, Too
