Why Do We Have to Study？
　　Do you often wonder why you need to go to school？ In September
2009， the then US president Barack Obama gave a speech at Wakefield
High School in Arlington， Virginia. In the speech， he encouraged the
students to study hard， set goals and take responsibility（责任） for their
education.
I want to start with the responsibility you have to yourself. Every one of
you has something that you are good at. Every one of you has something to
offer. Education can help you discover those things.
No matter what you want to be in the future， I guarantee that you will
need an education to do it. I am quite sure about that. Whether you want to be
a doctor， a police officer， a lawyer or an architect， you are going to need
a good education for every one of those jobs. You have to train for it， work
for it and learn for it.
This isn’t just important for your own life and your own future. Your
education will decide the future of this country. The future of our country
depends on you. What you are learning in school today will determine（决
定） whether we can meet our greatest challenges in the future.
We need every one of you to develop your talents and your skills， so
you can help us solve our most difficult problems. If you don’t do that， you
are not just quitting（放弃） on yourself， and you are quitting on your
country.

8， English suddenly became difficult to me. For example， I just
couldn’t remember most of them. My listening was also poor. It made me
