When Emily was 16, she had a dream of becoming a professional singer, a dream that was as bright as the stars in the night sky. Emily’s parents, though supportive, often reminded her of the importance of her studies. This made Emily feel torn (为难) between her passion and her responsibilities
Each day, Emily trained herself for hours. She would sing in the mirror, imagining every audience was fully attracted by her singing. The sound of her voice filled the empty room, giving Emily a sense of purpose and fulfillment (成就感).
When she learned about the local singing competition, Emily felt a spark of excitement in her heart. She chose a song that reflected her emotional journey and practised it over and over again. The lyrics spoke to her heart, allowing her to relive (回味) moments of joy, heartbreak and growth.
Finally came the day of the competition. With butterflies in her stomach, Emily could feel her heart pounding in her chest as she walked onto the stage. As the music began, Emily closed her eyes and let her voice flow out. She could hear the audience gasp (倒吸气) as she hit the high notes, and she felt a sense of connection with them that she had never experienced before.

“What are you going to plant, Granny ” asked Jack. “I like big, yellow sunflowers.”
“I'm going to plant vegetables. That way we can have them to eat when they are ready,” Lucy replied.
“How long does that take ” asked Jack. He sometimes liked vegetables, especially carrots.
“It will take a few months before anything is ready to eat, ”Lucy answered. Jack was surprised.
“Months Why would you do all that work and then have to wait so long ” Jack said. “You should just go to the store and buy them.”
“Be patient, my dear! Don't you know food always tastes best when you grow it yourself ” Lucy said. “And if you come to help, it won't be too much work.”
“I’ll help you, Granny, ”offered Jack. He put down the soccer and went to look at the gardening tools Lucy had prepared.
Lucy taught Jack how to use a trowel (铲) to dig small rows for the seeds. Then, Lucy showed Jack how to place the seeds into each hole and how to cover the holes with soil. Lastly, Jack wrote the names of the vegetables on sticks that Lucy pushed into the ground. “This way we can remember which vegetable seeds we planted, ”Lucy explained.
Once everything was planted, Jack filled the watering can so that Lucy could make the soil nice and wet for the seeds to start to grow.

第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I am Denise Clarice, the only one in my class who does not have a pet. No dog waits for me at the bus stop. No cat sits beside me while I read. I don’t even have a tiny, furry hamster (仓鼠) to hold in my hand. But I don’t feel sorry. Why
The rule about no pets at our house is not because I am too young to have pets, because I am 1l years old. Besides, I am very responsible. I always return library books on time and I do my homework every day, even when I would rather play in the grass. The rule about no pets is because of Kevin. He is my little brother and he is sensitive to pets, which make him sneeze (打喷嚏).
One day, when I was walking home from school, I heard a soft little sound from behind a garbage. I stopped and listened. There it was. I heard the sound again. I walked quietly up the driveway and looked behind the garbage. A tiny ball of gray fur looked up at me and said, “Meow.” Before I knew it, I was holding the cat. Before I knew it, I was walking toward home, holding the cat in my arms. She must be lost. “Finders keepers,” I thought.
I took the cat upstairs to my room. We played with a ball, and she jumped high to catch the ball. I was excited that I made a comfortable little bed for her in a box with a small blanket and gave her milk to drink. Soon, my mother called me to dinner.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
Not long after I sat down at the table, Kevin started sneezing.

第二节(满分25分)
47. 阅读下面短文,根据所给情节进行续写,使之构成一个完整的故事。
In a misty morning Robert was hiking high in the mountains with Lucky, his tiny but energetic dog. Every weekend, the two would go together on a hiking to climb nearby mountains. As they got near to the top, the path was rocky and less-traveled. After an hour, they reached the top, touched by the beautiful view there. Lost in the breathtaking scenery, Robert felt refreshed. When he looked at the loyal friend beside him, the memory of meeting Lucky for the first time flooded into his mind.
It had been about two years since Robert got Lucky. She was small and a ball of energy. “The day when my mother let me choose a dog from the doghouse, she was playfully jumping around and licking (舔) me, barking (犬吠) loudly to show how much she wanted to be my family,” thought Robert. “She looked quite small, but from the moment I threw my eyes on her, I knew she was the perfect dog for me. And, for some reasons, that active energy was something that I needed in my life,” Robert kept thinking.
Time flew, dark night drawing near. Having got enough rest, Robert decided it was time to go home. Suddenly, Robert lost his balance, rolled down a rocky hill, hit his head really hard, and finally stopped upside down.
One of his leg was in between two rocks, so he couldn’t move. But that was the least of his worries. What Robert was really scared of was that he was going to sleep with a serious head injury. He tried to cry for help, but he was so weak that he was going to become unconscious (昏迷的). “If only there had been someone else,” Robert thought, sad and hopeless. As darkness fell further, the weather turned cold and windy and he was about to lose consciousness. What’s worse, Robert noticed something like a snake approaching him before he finally fell unconscious.

Whenever Jack came to visit, he would rush into the garden to work. Eager to help the vegetables grow well, he first would go to water the plants. After watering the vegetables, he would remove the weeds that popped up around the plants and apply organic fertilizer under Lucy's instruction if necessary. Day after day, spring turned into summer and finally, the plants started revealing their colorful secrets. He was thrilled to see the tomatoes turning red, the cucumbers hiding under the green leaves and the peppers growing bigger. Not until then did he realize that Lucy was right—all he needed was patience.
Finally, Lucy said it was time for the first harvest. With baskets ready, Jack and Lucy started out on their business. Lucy took him around the garden and picked some tomatoes, cucumbers and peppers. Then for the following hour, they were busying making vegetable salad. Jack helped wash the dirt off the food while Lucy chopped up the vegetables. When Lucy asked Jack to try the fresh salad, he took the first bite of their harvest excitedly. Never had Jack had such tasty salad. 【答案】
Fortunately, Lucky was there all the time and never stopped barking for help. First, the tiny dog tried to wake her owner up by licking his face, but it didn’t work. Then she grabbed Robert’s clothes in her mouth to drag him out of the rocks, but still in vain. When she noticed the nearby snake, she barked restlessly to stop it from attacking Robert. The dog’s barking, echoing in the mountains, was so loud that two passers-by were attracted to come near the spot. Hearing someone above, Lucky ran up the hill to lead them to his injured owner.
After seeing unconscious Robert, the two strangers managed to wake himup. Without delay, they called for help and then dragged him out of the rocks with great strength. Breathing a sigh of relief, they gave Robert water and checked his head injury. Before the medical help arrived, they kept Robert warm and told him it was his dog that saved him. Looking down into Lucky’s loving eyes, Robert knew he had made the right decision in choosing Lucky as his companion. He realized that his dog’s energy was more than something he just needed. Lucky was really a loyal and brave friend as well as a devoted family member.
