Resolving (解决) Conflict in Friendships
Conflict is surely a common problem in life and friendships.___11___ That's because there isn't enough depth to guarantee all the trouble it takes to smooth over the disagreement. Unfortunately, even when the friendship reaches a deeper level, conflict continues to happen and can break apart a relationship. Here are some resolutions.
Resolve it the day it happens. One rule my parents follow in their marriage is that they don't go to bed angry with each other. They always attempt to resolve things the day it happens so that in the morning, it's a fresh start with no past grudge (怨恨). I've found I need a short cool down period so that I don't act in anger.___12___ Whatever you do, don't let things ride for too long.
___13___ Sometimes if you sit down and talk things over, you begin to see where the other person is coming from. Realize that everyone has been created differently with various talents, abilities, and personality traits. For example, you might be a leader while your friend is more of a follower. You may be frustrated with him or her for not being very decisive. Yet it is important to understand that each person is unique and needs to be appreciated.
Initiate resolution. ___14___ Even when you think the other person is wrong,it's not a bad thing to say "I'm sorry if I offended you in that way." If you're honest and genuine in delivering your words, there's a good chance your friend will respond positively.
Most importantly, be loving in what you do. Try to focus on peacefully resolving the disagreement. It is not a most pleasant task to resolve conflict in any friendship. ___15___
A. Don't expect too much.
B. Try to see the other person's perspective.
C. Be the first person in a fight to say sorry for your part.
D. Many shallow friendships end up being ruined after an argument.
E. To say sorry bravely when a conflict breaks out is a better resolution.
F. However, it is worth the efforts because it results in a deeper friendship.
G. For some, counting to one hundred before saying anything may be an option.

Building language skills doesn’t happen overnight, especially if you want to become a fluent speaker. However, there are some important tips and tricks that work for every learner.
1. Engage yourself in a language
Engagement is arguably the most effective way to learn a language. You should surround yourself with the language and listen to it as much as you can. Just try to speak the language in different situations, even if it’s not necessary. ____31____ If you don’t know the word, that would be a nice chance to look it up and learn something new.
2. Learn through context
If you’re learning a language, you should make sure that it’s based on natural dialogues and real-world situations. Contextual learning will help you guess the meaning from the context. ____32____ Learning about culture, people, and customs is an important part of acquiring language skills. And that’s really important, especially when you’re just starting out.
3. ____33____
Grammar is the foundation of every language and a system of rules that allow us to structure sentences. But people are often afraid of it or they find it dreadfully boring. ____34____ Instead, grammar can be taught through examples, stories, and, once again, context! In other words, you should see grammar in action. You shouldn’t only learn grammar rules but rather see them in usage.
As you can see, there are many ways to practice the language efficiently. ____35____ One thing is for sure: learning languages can and should be a fun and enjoyable experience.
A. Learn language rules systematically.
B. Don’t skip grammar — but do it differently.
C. You just need to find a method that works for you and keep at it.
D. For instance, if you’re making dinner, you can try to name each cuisine.
E. This is a great way to learn from locals while integrating in a new country.
F. It will also allow you to apply your knowledge and get valuable cultural insights.
G. Learning it doesn’t have to involve memorizing a bunch of rules from a textbook.

【解析】
【导语】本文是一篇说明文,主要讲述了培养批判性思考技能的方法。
【16题详解】
前文“While that seems to describe the ability of many professionals, some leaders in organizations today have a strong feeling that this ability is fading. (虽然这似乎描述了许多专业人士的能力,但今天组织中的一些领导人强烈感觉到这种能力正在消退。)”讲述了批判性思考的能力正在衰退,再结合下文分段讲述的建议可知,空处应用承上启下,指出接下来有帮助培养批判性思考技能的策略,G项“以下策略将帮助你和你的团队培养批判性思维技能。”符合题意。故选G。
【17题详解】
本段首句“Be a continuous learner. (做一个不断学习的人。)”是主旨句,本段主要讲述的是要不断学习。空处应和学习有关,D项“基本上,他们不用吩咐就会自我教育。”符合题意,下文中的This指代空处的内容。故选D。
【18题详解】
前文“Critical thinkers put their egos aside and think about what is best for the overall organization. (批判性思考者把自我放在一边,思考什么对整个组织最有利。)”讲述了进行批判性思考的人会把注意集中在整个组织上,而不是个人上,后文“However, their goal is seeking to understand and then making a clear and rational decision that is best for the majority. (然而,他们的目标是寻求理解,然后做出对大多数人最有利的清晰合理的决定。)”中的However表明空处与后文是转折关系,后文讲述了他们的目标是做出对大多数人最有利的决定,由此可知,空处应讲述对整个组织最有利的事情对个人来说不是最好的,C项“也许这对个人来说不是最好的解决方案。”符合题意。故选C。
19题详解】
空前的“Listen and consider unconventional opinions. (倾听并考虑非传统观点。)”是本段主旨句,建议要倾听并考虑非传统观点,所以空处应讲述的是进行批判性思考的人会寻找新的方法,E项“批判性思考者倾向于为旧问题寻找新的解决方案。”符合题意。故选E。
