(1)one... the other...是固定搭配,表示两个人或事

some... the others ...用于三者或三者以上,意为“—些……其余的……”。如:
Many girls are in the library. Some are reading books, and the others are doing homework.许多女孩在图书馆。一些在看书,另一些在做作业。
(2)towards作介词,意为“朝;向;对着”。如:
The driver is driving towards the town.司机正开车朝镇上驶去。
辨析:to常用在go、come、return、move等词后,表示运动的目的地;而towards意为“朝;向”,表示运动方向,无“到达”之意。
