D篇1
(2024届湖南省长沙市高三上学期1月新高考适应性考试)Nothing earns attention like rarity. In the natural world, rarity is most clearly represented by the last members of a declining species. These scarce(稀有)plants and animals are extremely valuable; they represent the final hope for preventing extinction. The efforts toward conserving rare species have made an enormous difference. In the past few decades, declines of many endangered plants and animals have been reversed(逆转). But the attention to scarcity could come at the expense of overlooking the ordinary.
If we are to conserve nature, we must maintain our focus on the familiar. Increasingly, conservation is turning its sights in this direction — to safeguard what is common, not just what is rare.
There are good reasons to consider the common. A study of North American birds uncovered that we have lost three billion birds on this continent within the past two generations.
These declines include species once considered widespread and secure, like the common redpoll, whose numbers are down by 29 million and the common nighthawk, down by 26 million. The shocking losses are a reminder that the mark of a species in trouble is not rarity, but rate of decline.
Notably, the shifts in abundance of common species can translate into sizeable shifts in ecosystem functioning. One caribou herd(北美驯鹿群), numbering in the hundreds of thousands, removes millions of kilograms of food for animals every year and returns nutrients to the soil in the form of millions of kilograms of animal wastes.
The value of common species is not just ecological and economic, but psychological. Study after study demonstrates that encounters with the natural world improve our mental state. Losing familiar species — whether birds in our backyard or butterflies on our doorstep — is likely to shrink(收缩)such opportunities for engagement.
Rarity will always occupy a significant place in conservation. But in our pursuit for a sustainable and biodiverse future, we must avoid “the extinction of commonness”.
What is the purpose of the first paragraph
A. To make a survey. B. To offer a suggestion.
C. To introduce the topic. D. To provide an example.
33. What does the example of bird study suggest according to the text
A. Species loss balances the ecosystem.
B. Birds produce many nutrients to the soil.
C. Species rate of decline arouses people’s concern.
D. Birds are described as widespread and secure animals.
34. What can we conclude from the passage
A. Rarity matters most in conservation.
B. Familiar species shouldn’t be ignored.
C. Biodiversity results in the extinction of commonness.
D. People’s physical state shrinks for the sustainable development.
35. Where is this text most probably taken from
A. A news report. B. A health column.
C. A biology magazine. D. A travel brochure.
文章第一段“Nothing earns attention like rarity. But the attention to scarcity could come at the expense of overlooking the ordinary.(没有什么比稀有更吸引人了。在自然界中,稀有最明显地体现在一个正在衰退的物种的最后成员身上。这些稀有的动植物极其珍贵;它们是防止物种灭绝的最后希望。保护稀有物种的努力已经产生了巨大的影响。在过去的几十年里,许多濒危动植物的数量下降趋势已经逆转。但是,对稀缺性的关注可能是以忽视普通物种为代价的)”中先肯定了我们对稀有物种的保护和取得的成就,但最后一句“But the attention to scarcity could come at the expense of overlooking the ordinary.”把话题由对稀有物种的保护引到普通物种上来,再结合第二段中“If we are to conserve nature, we must maintain our focus on the familiar. Increasingly, conservation is turning its sights in this direction — to safeguard what is common, not just what is rare.(如果我们要保护自然,我们必须把注意力集中在熟悉的事物上。自然资源保护越来越多地将目光转向这个方向——保护常见的东西,而不仅仅是稀有的东西)”可知,对普通物种的保护才是本文的主题,所以第一段的目的是引入话题,故选C项。
33.【答案】C
【解析】推理判断题。根据第三段中“There are good reasons to consider the common.(我们有充分的理由考虑普通的物种)”和第四段中“These declines include species once considered widespread and secure, like the common redpoll, whose numbers are down by 29 million and the common nighthawk, down by 26 million. The shocking losses are a reminder that the mark of a species in trouble is not rarity, but rate of decline.(这些减少的物种包括曾经被认为分布广泛和安全的物种,比如普通的红背鸟,它们的数量减少了2900万只,普通的夜鹰,减少了2600万只。这些令人震惊的损失提醒我们,濒危物种的标志不是稀有,而是减少的速度)”可推知,对普通鸟类研究的这些例子表明这些物种的减少速度令人震惊,引起了人们的担忧,故选C项。
34.【答案】B
【解析】推理判断题。根据第五段中“Notably, the shifts in abundance of common species can translate into sizeable shifts in ecosystem functioning.(值得注意的是,普通物种数量的变化可以转化为生态系统功能的巨大变化)”和第六段中“The value of common species is not just ecological and economic, but psychological.(普通物种的价值不仅仅是生态和经济上的,还有心理上的)”可推知,普通物种有生态、经济和心理上的价值,不应该被忽视,故选B项。
35.【答案】C
【解析】推理判断题。通读全文,结合第二段“If we are to conserve nature, we must maintain our focus on the familiar. Increasingly, conservation is turning its sights in this direction — to safeguard what is common, not just what is rare.(如果我们要保护自然,我们必须把注意力集中在熟悉的事物上。自然资源保护越来越多地将目光转向这个方向——保护普通的东西,而不仅仅是稀有的东西)”和最后一段中“Rarity will always occupy a significant place in conservation. But in our pursuit for a sustainable and biodiverse future, we must avoid “the extinction of commonness”.(稀有物种总是在保护中占有重要地位。但是,在我们追求可持续和生物多样性的未来时,我们必须避免“普通物种的灭绝”)”可推知,本文论述在生物保护中对普通物种的保护的重要性,与生物学相关,所以很更能出自生物学杂志,故选C项。
D篇2
(2024届名校学术联盟高考信息卷模拟卷五)In school, we learned the periodic table and were told to recite the alphabet, but nobody forced us to take a class on what emotions are and how they work before we entered the big world. And for many of us, that means understanding how we feel and why can be incredibly difficult.
Yet, research shows that being aware of your emotions is hugely beneficial and people with high emotional awareness have better social and emotional functioning. In layman’s terms, that can translate as being able to predict your emotions and develop coping mechanisms in advance, becoming wise to unhealthy behavior patterns, and even being more in tune with the needs of others.
“Emotional awareness is being able to identify and make sense of not only our own emotions but those of others. It’s absolutely essential in maintaining good mental health,” explains Rachel Vora, psychotherapist and founder of CYP Wellbeing. “When we are able to identify and reflect on our emotional responses, we can understand how this influences our behaviors and in turn, change the way we respond to challenging situations.”
Of course, pinpointing how we feel can often prove difficult. It’s the very reason we turn to general phrases like “I feel blue” or “I’m not myself today”. Vora says this is often because on some level we don’t want to know how we really feel. “We can often try to numb(使麻木), suppress or avoid emotions because they feel overwhelming or distressing and this can often lead to a lack of emotional awareness as we feel disconnected from ourselves,” she explains.
Without emotional awareness, we can also develop emotional blind spots: unhealthy thoughts, behaviors and coping mechanisms that are hidden from our view. Perhaps you may feel self-doubt when you receive negative feedback. Unless you take time for introspection(反省), you’ll remain unaware of these habits. Vora says tuning into your emotions and honestly reflecting on how you feel is key. “By identifying our emotional blind spots, we can feel more in control of our emotions, how to improve our mood and also how we respond in challenging situations.”
32. What can we know about people with high emotional awareness
A. They can foresee their emotions. B. They solve problems ahead of time.
C. They always keep positive attitude. D. They can avoid unhealthy behaviors.
33. How does Vora view emotional awareness
A. It can be gained without difficulty.
B. It is vital for us to keep mental health.
C. It can enable us to respond to challenges easily.
D. It is helpful to understand most people’s emotions.
34. What does the word “this” in paragraph 4 refer to
A. We don’t know how we feel. B. We lack emotional awareness.
C. We can’t control our emotions. D. We describe our emotions with difficulty.
35. What is the last paragraph mainly about
A. How to control our mood. B. What to do with our habits.
C. When to practise self-reflection. D. How to develop emotional awareness.
【语篇导读】本文是一篇议论文。文章主要讨论了情绪意识的重要性,提出了解自己的情绪对于维持良好的心理健康和社交功能的重要性。
32.【答案】A
【解析】细节理解题。根据文章第二段“Yet, research shows that being aware of your emotions is hugely beneficial and people with high emotional awareness have better social and emotional functioning. In layman’s terms, that can translate as being able to predict your emotions and develop coping mechanisms in advance, becoming wise to unhealthy behavior patterns, and even being more in tune with the needs of others.(然而,研究表明,意识到自己的情绪是非常有益的,情绪意识高的人有更好的社交和情感功能。用外行的话来说,这可以解释为能够预测你的情绪,提前发展应对机制,对不健康的行为模式变得明智,甚至更能与他人的需求保持一致)”可知,情绪意识高的人有更好的社交和情感功能,能够提前预测自己的情绪,故选A。
33.【答案】B
【解析】推理判断题。根据文章第三段““Emotional awareness is being able to identify and make sense of not only our own emotions but those of others. It’s absolutely essential in maintaining good mental health,” explains Rachel Vora, psychotherapist and founder of CYP Wellbeing. “When we are able to identify and reflect on our emotional responses, we can understand how this influences our behaviors and in turn, change the way we respond to challenging situations.”(“情绪意识不仅是能够识别和理解我们自己的情绪,也能理解他人的情绪。
根据划线单词上文“Of course, pinpointing how we feel can often prove difficult. It’s the very reason we turn to general phrases like “I feel blue” or “I’m not myself today”.(当然,准确地指出我们的感受往往是困难的。这就是为什么我们会说“我感觉很沮丧”或“我今天不是我自己”)”可知,Vora所说的“this”指的是我们很难准确表达出自己的感受,故选D。
35.【答案】D
【解析】主旨大意题。根据文章最后一段“Without emotional awareness, we can also develop emotional blind spots: unhealthy thoughts, behaviors and coping mechanisms that are hidden from our view. Perhaps you may feel self-doubt when you receive negative feedback. Unless you take time for introspection(反省), you’ll remain unaware of these habits. Vora says tuning into your emotions and honestly reflecting on how you feel is key. “By identifying our emotional blind spots, we can feel more in control of our emotions, how to improve our mood and also how we respond in challenging situations.”(如果没有情感意识,我们也会形成情感盲点:不健康的想法、行为和应对机制,这些都是我们看不到的。也许当你收到负面反馈时,你会感到自我怀疑。除非你花时间自省,否则你不会意识到这些习惯。Vora说,调整自己的情绪,诚实地反思自己的感受是关键。“通过识别我们的情绪盲点,我们可以更好地控制我们的情绪,如何改善我们的情绪,以及我们如何应对具有挑战性的情况。”)”可知,最后一段讲述了情感意识的重要性以及提出我们应该如何培养我们的情感意识,故选D。
D篇3
(2024届陕西省西安市长安区高三上学期第一次联考)We are all aware of the damaging pollution that’s created by driving petrol and diesel(柴油)vehicles. Many of the world’s cities are blocked with traffic, creating fumes containing gases such as nitrogen oxides. The solution for a cleaner, greener future could be electric vehicles. But how optimistic should we be There was much excitement last year when the UK government announced it will ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030. But is that easier said than done
The road to global traffic being totally electric is still a long way off. Currently, battery life is an issue—a fully charged battery won’t take you as far as a full tank of petrol. There are also limited numbers of charging points to plug an electric vehicle into. Of course, technology is always improving. Some of the biggest tech companies, like Google and Tesla, are spending huge amounts of money developing electric cars. And most of the big car manufacturers are now making them too. Colin Herron, a consultant on low-carbon vehicle technology, told the BBC, “The big leap forward will come with solid-state batteries, which will appear first in mobile phones and laptops before they progress to cars. “These will charge more quickly and give cars a bigger range. Cost is another issue that may discourage people switching to electric power. But some countries offer incentive, such as cutting prices by reducing import taxes, and not charging for road tax and parking. Some also provide exclusive lanes for electric cars to be driven on, overtaking traditional cars which might be stuck in jams.
These kinds of measures have made Norway the country with the most electric cars per capita(人均)at more than thirty electric cars per 1000 inhabitants. But Colin Herron warns that “electric motoring” doesn’t mean a zero-carbon future. “It’s emission-free motoring, but the car has to be built, the battery has to be built, and the electricity does come from somewhere.” Maybe it’s time to think about making fewer journeys or using public transport.
32. What can we infer from the question at the end of Paragraph 1
A. It is not easy to obtain a greener future by means of electric vehicles.
B. Electric vehicles may not solve the traffic problems.
C. We should not be too optimistic about the future.
D. It’s not a good idea to replace petrol vehicles with electric ones.
33. What does the underlined word “incentive” mean in Paragraph 2
A. permission B. encouragement C. admission D. insistence
34. Which of the following is TRUE according to the text
A. Electric motoring will create a zero-carbon future.
B. Putting solid-state batteries in electric cars first will be a “great leap forward”.
C. There are four obstacles on the road to global traffic being totally electric.
D. Electric cars might not get stuck in traffic jams in the future.
35. What is the most suitable title for the text
A. Electric Power or Petrol: A Tough Decision to Make
B. Electric Vehicles: A Road to a Greener Future
C. Total Electric Traffic: A Long Way to Go
D. Petrol and Diesel Vehicles: A Main Source of Gases

D篇4
(2024·河北邯郸·统考二模)What you believe in has a magic way of shaping your reality. The concept of “you can become what you believe” is more than just a motivational quote. It’s a truth that stresses the remarkable influence of your mindset(心态)on your journey through life. At the heart of this idea lies the distinction between two fundamental mindsets: the growth mindset and the fixed mindset.
The growth mindset is a mindset that embraces the idea that abilities and intelligence can be developed through devotion, effort, learning, and perseverance. Those with a growth mindset grow better on challenges, viewing them as opportunities to learn and improve. Effort is seen as a path to mastery, and setbacks are viewed as stepping stones on the journey to success. Criticism is taken constructively as a chance to improve skills, and the success of others serves as inspiration and a blueprint for one’s own progress.
In contrast, the fixed mindset is characterized by the belief that your abilities, intelligence, and talents are fixed characteristics that cannot be changed. People with a fixed mindset tend to avoid challenges, fearing that failure might reveal their limitations. They avoid pushing themselves because they see it as a sign of their weakness. Criticism is frequently interpreted as a personal attack, and envy or anger can be stirred up by others’ achievement. In nature, a fixed mindset limits individuals to their current abilities and limits their potential for growth.
The power of a growth mindset lies in its capacity to drive positive change. By believing in the potential for growth and improvement, individuals open themselves to a world of possibilities. “If you imagine less, less will be what you, undoubtedly deserve. Do what you love and don’t stop until you get what you love. Work as hard as you can, and think big, “Debbie Millman, a writer, designer, educator, artist and brand consultant said.
32. What is the author’s argument
A. People’s mindsets are diverse. B. One’s heart affects one’s mindset.
C. Mindset determines what one can be. D. Mindset depends on one’s character.
33. What does Paragraph 2 mainly tell us about the growth mindset
A. Its limitation. B. Its possibility. C. Its disadvantages, D. Its characteristics.
34. What way does the author use to illustrate the two different mindsets
A. Giving examples. B. Making comparisons.
C. Conducting analysis. D. Quoting famous sayings.
35. What might be Debbie Millman’s suggestion
A. Think carefully before you act. B. Imagine less and practice more.
C. Stay true to yourself and never change. D. Pursue your dreams and never give up.

D篇6
(2024届湖南省邵阳市高三上学期一模)Some people worry that there’s too much technology in our lives. And they may have a point, given how countless people now carry the internet around in their pocket and use it as a primary form of communication. It’s practically difficult to shun technology in our world. There are computer microchips(微芯片)in our watches, our cars, light switches, even our pets! Where will it end
Well, if certain people have their way, it’ll go even further. We’ll have microchips implanted(植入)into our brains that can interact with the computers by thought alone. It may sound like something from the science fiction, but in many ways, things look quite promising. Thanks to the ability to send and receive information remotely via computers, microchips and other related devices have long been put into brains.
For example, electrodes have been implanted in the brains of epilepsy patients to better record and even predict the abnormal neurological activity. Similarly, deep-brain stimulation, through implanted devices that cause activity in key brain regions, is an established treatment for things like Parkinson’s disease, and is even being looked into for illnesses like depression.
However, it’s another thing to place such devices in healthy individuals. There are the practical concerns, not least of which is what these chips will be made of. The inside of the brain is a mass of highly reactive chemicals and electrical activity. Implants would need to be inert(静止的)enough to not upset the delicate processes by their presence, but also sensitive enough to read and process the activity around them. Current technology has made impressive progress with this, but if it were to be rolled out to millions of people, we’d need to be 100 per cent certain that it’s safe.
How many people will actually want to have technology literally put into their brain A surprising 60 per cent of Americans say they’d be okay with it, but that’s when it’s purely theoretical. In reality, the possibility of having strangers stick chips in your brain is likely to prove unattractive, especially for a population where millions get mad at fictional microchips in vaccines(疫苗), and even more are frightened of dentists.
Ultimately, the technology of computer-brain interface(接口)implants is still far away from us.
32. What’s the function of the first paragraph
A. A summary of the article. B. An introduction to the main topic.
C. An overview of the whole article. D. An argument over the main topic.
33. What does the author want to tell us by the examples in paragraph 3
A. The process of human-computer interaction. B. The possible treatment for particular diseases.
C. The future of microchips and devices alike. D. The existing application of microchip implants.
34. How may most Americans react to implanting chips in the brain in reality
A. They may reject it. B. They may expect it.
C. They may adjust to it. D. They may feel curious about it.
35. Which word can best describe the technology of computer-brain interface implants
A. Imaginary. B. Practical. C. Unfulfilled. D. Impossible.

【解析】细节理解题。根据倒数第二段“In reality, the possibility of having strangers stick chips in your brain is likely to prove unattractive, especially for a population where millions get mad at fictional microchips in vaccines(疫苗), and even more are frightened of dentists.(事实上,让陌生人在你的大脑里植入芯片的可能性很可能被证明是没有吸引力的,尤其是对于一个数百万人对疫苗中虚构的微芯片感到愤怒的人群,对于害怕牙医的人群来说更多)”可知,在现实中,大多数美国人可能会拒绝对在大脑中植入芯片,故选A。
35.【答案】C
【解析】推理判断题。根据最后一段中“Ultimately, the technology of computer-brain interface(接口)implants is still far away from us.(最终,计算机与大脑接口植入技术离我们还很遥远)”可推知,计算机与大脑接口植入技术还未实现,故选C。

(2024届陕西省榆林市高三上学期一模)Renewable energy sources can help combat climate change, but dietary choices also play a significant role. Opting for plant-based diets or lab-grown food can reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the food system. We highlight the potential of dietary changes and the importance of providing choices instead of mandates(命令).
Research shows that a global shift towards vegetarian(素食的)diets could cut emissions from food system by over half. Even small changes towards plant-based diets can have a meaningful impact. Substituting conventional food with lab-grown alternatives could prevent 1 degree of future warming. These findings demonstrate the power of dietary changes in addressing climate challenges.
Dietary choices are influenced by factors like culture, religion, and economics. It is unrealistic to expect everyone to become vegetarian immediately. Respecting individual choices is crucial in promoting sustainable diets. By offering information and raising awareness, individuals can make choices according to their needs and values while contributing to collective efforts.
Transforming industrial food production is necessary, but individual choices are still vital. Education and awareness campaigns can inform people about the environmental impact of different dietary choices and empower them to make informed bining individual actions with systematic changes can create a powerful force for human health and the planet, Rather than expecting immediate vegetarianism, acknowledging the impact of small changes is important. Gradual shifts towards more sustainable dietary choices, like reducing animal product consumption and increasing vegetable intake, can result in significant environmental benefits when multiplied across populations.
In conclusion, addressing climate change requires multiple approaches, with dietary choices playing a crucial role. Offering choices while recognizing the challenges associated with dietary shifts is essential. By combining personal dietary changes with broader efforts to reshape the food system, we can make substantial progress towards a healthier planet while respecting individual preferences.

D篇8
(2024届湖北省武汉市部分重点中学高三第二次联考)Recently, a coalition of business and advocacy groups from around Washington gathered to kick off a campaign to enact a carbon pricing program in the capital.Known as the Climate and Community Reinvestment Act of D. C. , the plan would place a new tax on all fossil fuels bought or sold, with the hope of ultimately discouraging the use of these polluting energy sources.
The big-picture goal of this campaign is admirable: to address the ever-deepening crisis of climate chaos by dissuading the continued use of coal, oil and gas. But unfortunately, the approach—one based in a world of financial markets, trading schemes and encouraging new public revenue streams—is inherently flawed. Simply put, carbon pricing is a false solution to climate change and a distraction from real, effective climate solutions we must urgently pursue.
To date, there is insufficient evidence to indicate that carbon taxes lower greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, the opposite is true. Recently Food & Water Watch reviewed the British Columbia carbon tax program, often cited by advocates as an example of success. From 2009(the first full year of the tax)to 2014, emissions from taxed sources grew by 4.3 percent. And in the seven years after the carbon tax took effect, total gasoline sales increased by 7.37 percent.
Supporters of such plans like to focus on a deceivingly(貌似地)simple notion that increasing the price of a consumer good will automatically reduce its use. But this just isn’t the case when it comes to the purchase of necessities. People must heat their homes in winter, and they must commute to work, regardless of the cost.
Those backing the D. C. carbon pricing plan like to note that revenue from the new tax would go toward investment in clean energy sources. But only 20 percent of the generated funds would be allocated in this manner. The rest would be shared out in tax breaks for businesses and rebates(退还款)for consumers, another factor undercutting the belief that increased costs up front would change consumer behavior in the long run.
Regardless of what many well-inattention activists and community leaders want to believe, there is no convenient, market-friendly solution to our terrible climate condition. The latest science indicates that in order to avoid the worst effects of deepening climate chaos, society must transition completely to clean, renewable energy by 2035.
32. What did Food &.Water Watch find out about carbon tax program
A. Carbon taxes could reduce greenhouse gas emissions
B. Carbon emissions grew at a lower rate than gasoline sales.
C. Carbon taxes program was generally regarded as a success.
D. Carbon tax program made little difference to carbon emission.
33. What is the author’s argument against carbon taxes
A. Funds gained will benefit clean energy sources.
B. Consumers will use less of a good when its price increases.
C. Increased cost will have little effect on the use of necessities.
D. Consumers’ reliance on fossil fuels will decrease dramatically.
34. What does the underlined word “undercutting”in paragraph 5 mean .
A. Ruining B. weakening C. highlighting D. securing
35. The most suitable title for this text would be ________.
A. The faulty Carbon Tax. B. The Climate Change Myth.
C. The Call for Clean Energy. D. The Causes of Carbon Tax.
【语篇导读】这是一篇议论文。文章论述了“烟尘排放税会降低污染” 的观点是错误的。
32.【答案】D
【解析】细节理解题。根据文章第三段中“To date, there is insufficient evidence to indicate that carbon taxes lower greenhouse gas emissions. In fact, the opposite is true. Recently Food & Water Watch reviewed the British Columbia carbon tax program, often cited by advocates as an example of success. From 2009(the first full year of the tax)to 2014, emissions from taxed sources grew by 4.3 percent. And in the seven years after the carbon tax took effect, total gasoline sales increased by 7.37 percent.(迄今为止,没有足够的证据表明碳税可以降低温室气体排放。事实上,恰恰相反。最近,食品与水观察》组织审查了不列颠哥伦比亚省的碳税计划,该计划经常被倡导者引用为成功的例子。从2009年(税收的第一个全年)到2014年,税收来源的排放量增长了4.3%。在碳税生效后的七年里,汽油总销量增长了7.37%)” 可知,《食品与水观察》发现,对碳排放征税并不能减少污染,故选D项。
33.【答案】C
【解析】细节理解题。根据第四段中“But this just isn’t the case when it comes to the purchase of necessities. People must heat their homes in winter, and they must commute to work, regardless of the cost.(但在购买生活必需品时,情况就不一样了。冬天,人们必须给自己的房子供暖,他们必须不顾成本通勤上班)”和第五段中“The rest would be shared out in tax breaks for businesses and rebates(退还款)for consumers, another factor undercutting the belief that increased costs up front would change consumer behavior in the long run.(剩下的部分将通过对企业的减税和对消费者的退税来分配,另一个因素削弱了这样一种观念,即预先增加的成本将从长远来看改变消费者的行为)”可知,“增加的成本几乎不会改变必需品的使用”的说法是正确的,故选C项。
34.【答案】B
【解析】词义猜测题。由文章第五段“Those backing the D.C.carbon pricing plan like to note that revenue from the new tax would go toward investment in clean energy sources. But only 20 percent of the generated funds would be allocated in this manner. The rest would be shared out in tax breaks for businesses and rebates(退还款)for consumers, another factor undercutting the belief that increased costs up front would change consumer behavior in the long run.(那些支持D.C.碳定价计划的人希望注意到,新税的收入将用于清洁能源投资。但只有20%的资金会以这种方式分配。其余部分将通过企业税收减免和消费者退税来分担,这是另一个 人们认为增加前期成本将从长远来看改变消费者行为的因素)”可知,只有很少资金用于清洁能源投资,所以这“削弱”人们认为这种方法有效的看法。所以猜测undercutting表“削弱”,故选B项。
35.【答案】A
【解析】主旨大意题。根据文章第二段中 “Simply put, carbon pricing is a false solution to climate change and a distraction from real, effective climate solutions we must urgently pursue.(,简单地说,碳定价是一个错误的气候变化解决方案,分散了我们对现实的、有效的气候解决方案的注意力,我们必须迫切地追求这些解决方案)” 以及上下文可知,这篇文章论述的是关于“烟尘排放税会降低污染”的错误观点。所以A项The faulty Carbon Tax.(错误的碳税)符合文意,故选A项。
D篇9
(2024届河南省三门峡市高三一模)It was a quiet morning in the library, and we librarians were enjoying a rather loud chat. Suddenly, a patron(常客)marched up to us, gave us an annoyed “Shush!” and went back to her seat. How strange for a group of librarians to be shushed by a patron! Shouldn’t it be the other way around
Well, it’s complicated. If you’re like me, a middle-aged woman, you probably remember libraries as places of silent reading. These days, however, libraries are more like active community centers.
In the past, most libraries didn’t focus much on programs for kids whose age made it impossible for them to be quiet on demand. But growing knowledge about the importance of kids and teens learning through hands-on experiences has since caused a sea change in how libraries connect with young readers. Now libraries begin offering interactive programs for kids, including crafts, board games, and story times. These types of programs certainly aren’t designed to be silent.
Along with more programs for ever-younger children, technology today has played a part in the transformation of libraries into places where both kids and adults can use computers, make something on a 3D printer and more. In addition, many libraries now offer programs for adults, who can participate in in book discussion, learn calligraphy, and even take college classes.
Of course, libraries still need peaceful phones. These days, many libraries have glassed-off study rooms or quiet areas. They are also less noisy in the early afternoons, after morning children’s programs and before the after-school kid crowd arrive.
It’s clear to me now that on the day my colleagues and I were shushed by a patron, we should have been using our “library voices” as we talked. Still, it’s unlikely that libraries will ever return to the days when they were places of silence. There’s just too much fun and learning happening.
32. How did the author respond to the patron’s behavior
A. She approved of it. B. She was disappointed at it.
C. She hesitated about it. D. She was astonished at it.
33. What is paragraph 3 mainly about
A. The past and the present of libraries. B. The reason for the change of libraries.
C. The activities for young children in libraries. D. The connection between libraries and readers.
34. What can we learn about today’s libraries
A. They heavily depend on technology. B. They offer online programs for adults.
C. They still provide silent reading places. D. They care much about time arrangement.
35. What would be the best title for the text
A. Libraries Should be Loud B. Reading Can be Fun in Libraries
C. Libraries Make Learning Happen D. Library Programs Target Children

D篇10
(2024上·黑龙江大庆·高三大庆实验中学校考期末)If you want to disturb the car industry, you’d better have a few billion dollars: Mom-and-pop carmakers are unlikely to beat the biggest car companies. But in agriculture, small farmers can get the best of the major players. By connecting directly with customers, and by responding quickly to changes in the markets as well as in the ecosystems, small farmers can keep one step ahead of the big guys. As the co-founder of the National Young Farmers Coalition(NYFC, 美国青年农会)and a family farmer myself, I have a front-row seat to the innovations among small farmers that are transforming the industry.
For example, the Quick Cut Greens Harvester is a tool developed just a couple of years ago by a young farmer, Jonathan Dysinger, in Tennessee, with a small loan from a local Slow Money group. It enables small-scale farmers to harvest 175 pounds of green vegetables per hour — a huge improvement over harvesting just a few dozen pounds by hand — suddenly making it possible for the little guys to compete with large farms of California. Before the tool came out, small farmers couldn’t touch the price per pound offered by California farms. But now, with the combination of a better price and a generally fresher product, they can stay in business.
The sustainable success of small farmers, though, won’t happen without fundamental changes to the industry. One crucial factor is secure access to petition from investors, developers, and established large farmers makes owning one’s own land unattainable for many new farmers. From 2004 to 2013, agricultural land values doubled, and they continue to rise in many regions. Another challenge for more than a million of the most qualified farm workers and managers is a non-existent path to citizenship — the great barrier to building a farm of their own.
There are solutions that could light a path toward a more sustainable and fair farm economy, but farmers can’t awkwardly put them together before us. We at the NYFC need broad support as we urge Congress to increase farmland conservation, as we push for immigration reform, and as we seek policies that will ensure the success of a diverse and ambitious next generation of farmer from all backgrounds. With a new farm bill to be debated in Congress, consumers must take a stand with young farmers.
32. Why does the author mention car industry at the beginning of the passage
A. To introduce the progress made in car industry.
B. To introduce a special feature of agriculture.
C. To introduce a trend of development in agriculture.
D. To introduce the importance of investing in car industry.
33. What does the author want to illustrate with the example in paragraph 2
A. Loans to small local farmers are necessary.
B. Technology is vital for agricultural development.
C. Competition between small and big farm is fierce.
D. Small farmers may gain some advantages over big ones.
34. What is the difficulty for those new farmers
A. To gain more financial aid. B. To hire good farm managers.
C. To have farms of their own. D. To win old farmers’ support.
35. What should farmers do for a more sustainable and fair farm economy
A. Seek support beyond NYFC. B. Expand farmland conservation.
C. Become members of NYFC. D. Invest more to improve technology.

D. Impossible.
