Step 2 Pre-reading (3 mins) Prediction Ask Ss to predict the main idea and finish task B on page 16 by looking at photos and the title. Predict and finish the task. To train Ss’ abilities to make a prediction.
Step 3 While-reading (22 mins) Fast reading Ask Ss to match the main idea with each paragraph Careful reading Paragraph 1 Location & Description Paragraph 2 Blank filling Paragraph 3 Answer the questions Paragraph 4 Answer the questions Read the passage paragraph by paragraph and finish the corresponding tasks. 2. Listen and take notes. 3. Guess the meaning of new words according to the context. To train Ss to obtain the details in reading. 2. To train Ss to guess the meaning of new words in the context.
Step 4 Post-reading (10 mins) Comprehension Ask Ss to finish D1 and D2 on page 5. Summary Guide Ss to make a summary on the article. Play a video about France 1. Finish the tasks in the book. Discuss in groups to make a summary on the passage. Watch the video. 1. To train Ss’ abilities to summarize. 2.To develop Ss’ cooperative awareness. To arouse Ss’ interest.
